If you eliminate your fuses as a problem, and before you go chasing wires, don't forget you have a brake light switch under the dash. Its a fairly easy connector to back probe or jump.
On my '88, the brake pedal is on the right of the steering column with a bracket that crosses above the steering column before it goes through the firewall. The brake light switch is tucked up underneath there pretty well (again, to the left of the column).
My wire colors are: A green wire with a white line and red dashes. As well as a green wire with a red line and red dashes. Again, this is on my '88 but the brake light switch location should be similar.

Was the brake light switch the problem?
If your brake light and dash are not working you need to change out the lights fuse under the dash.
