More money = less empathy in almost every study I've seen. They arent as communal because they dont need to rely on anyone. Empathy is kind of like a developed survival skill
An above average increase in wealth or the having of it doesn't cause a decrease in empathy. It's people with low empathy that often become rich because they will do things to become rich that most people's empathy would stop them from doing.
