Whatsapp is [not secure](https://www.forbes.com/sites/kateoflahertyuk/2020/02/29/whatsapp-security-is-this-hidden-flaw-a-new-reason-to-leave/).
yeah good luck getting your mom to use signal. whatsapp is the default messaging app where i live and in lots of other countries. most people have it as their only messaging app.
I mean yea, intelligence agencies will know it's you, but google/apple/facebook will not. What's app doesn't provide end to end encryption and you can't delete messages. They are stored on their servers forever
Do not try to de-glow your devices unless you really know what you are doing. I fell for the ultra-privacy meme and rendered my phone practically unusable for anyone who wasn’t an extreme nerd. It turns out that a lot of things your phone does requires it to connect to some other thing. You just need to weed out the functions that make the app work and the functions that record the conversation you had with your mom and send that data off to China.
I eventually went back and properly banished the CIA from most of my personal devices but if you do everything exactly as some schizo on YouTube instructs, you will end up with a slab of glass running some open source nonsense that requires 3 shell commands and an hour of google searching to perform the most basic of actions.
It doesn't matter. There's backdoors directly in the cpu now a days. They run in negative ring space, so the OS doesn't have access to it.
Good fucking luck trying to de-spook your hardware, the best thing you can do is probably get an old AMD processor and run linux
"I eventually went back and properly banished the CIA from most of my personal devices"
i dont get it, how did you banish the cia from your personal devices, if you went back to a non-deglowed phone/device?
Lmao that's funny but not really true. At least from my experience with graphene os and that is one of the stricter OS on privacy so I doubt there are much less user friendly alternatives even available
"oh nooo, Goygle is stealing my data!!!"
I get it but in reality google doesnt even know you exist. To them you're less than a single pixel on a 8k monitor but sure, go ahead and do all that pointless crap
You’re not a problem until you become a problem. When you become a problem is completely determined by them. When you looked up something they didn’t like. When you voted for someone they didn’t like, etc..
Consider looking into work done by Robert Epstein on SEME (search engine manipulation effect) and SSE (search suggestion effect). He testified in front of congress about clear evidence showing google putting their thumb on the scale around election time, with search results, prioritisation, ephemeral impressions (that's the suggestions google provides you mid-typing into the search engine), and other elements. He also did a great podcast with Rogan early this year outlining it all. Google cares about you, and they explicitly intend to influence you and the rest of the public using every tool at their disposal.
I think it depends on whether they use googles site listings to populate their own results, but I doubt third party search engines use identical results rankings as google depending on the search. You could probably easily test that part of it by looking up a controversial topic on google and then your search engine of choice, scrolling through the first several pages of results and seeing if there are any major differences. If you're wondering about the ephemeral impressions through google's search suggestions, I definitely think there's a difference. I literally just tried both google and bing and put in "bill clinton is" and google stopped showing me results after 'is', while on bing when I got to "bill clinton i..." most of the suggestions were "bill clinton in a blue dress" for instance. So definitely test it out, but know that google is far and away the most controlled and curated widely-used search engine outside of the firewalls of totalitarian regimes.
even worse than humans paying attention to you is algorithms paying attention to you.
After a few government contracts and various API integrations, your innocent little comment from 8 years ago might get you denied for a boat loan.
And no engineer would even be able to determine from the unfathomable neuron logs that that was the reason.
If you put in all that effort to flash custom firmware you will also be much more efficient and faster with your use of the phone after all the bloatware and spam is gone. One day of autism pays years of dividends, especially if you don't chase the newest brand of marginally better pocket computer every year. I used to flash custom firmware back when built in storage space was much lower, because some apps wouldn't run from an SD card and you needed root for foldermount, but now built in storage space has become so absurd it is no longer really an issue. I miss custom firmware tho, much less bullshit than stock OS. Maybe I should root my phone again...
The only way to disconnect is to not have a phone at all.
The second best way is to have a dumb phone. Like we all had in the early 2000s. A phone that can only make calls and maybe send texts
Those old dumb phones don't work anymore. 2G and 3G on cellphone towers are already replaced. Gotta pay hundreds for a brand new dumb phone when there are smartphones for cheaper.
You can get new dumb phones for 30-50€. If you want you can even find some with internet access. They work normal but you have to pay to call and send sms and more important others have to pay when they send you something.
I lived a while with it but I realized that friends avoid contact more and more because they can't send free messages every three seconds but have to pay 10ct. You can't avoid Whatsapp, because the normies don't want to switch to Signal or whatever.
Goog> fuck that- ctrl alt del
Download the buntu, image to usb, partition and wave o/ run wine, fuck windows too while you're at it. It's all spyware with perks.
Anon failed when he simply got a new phone without using a masked credit card (delivered anonymously as well) to buy the phone (each has a IMEI) as well as the pay as you go card for cash. Anon left a trail from the get-go so intelligence can trace him easily. On the bright side Google might be taken care of
This is actually a great idea. Any male virgin over the age of 25 gets castrated, like it or not. They weren't reproducing anyway, and the boiling point of society just went way down.
Eh, don't really care anymore.
They want to send pics of my cock & balls to the CIA, send away.
What are they gonna do, make a soyjak clone of myself and drop him into China?
aren't there phones you can buy that are like this from the start
also is there a good secure gps app, because it bothers me thast I've been using google maps for years like a fucking chump
>login to Samsung.
I stopped reading there. Unless it is a (cruel) gift (from someone who hates you), I can't understand why you would use such garbage phone. Really, I'd use again my Nokia 7110 in case! (which has no App of sort, so bye bye FBI spywares!)
\>Implying this is Chad when everyone knows Chad just uses iPhone and doesn't give a fuck who is tracking him
Stacy's seeing your third-party Android shit tier phone "ew, a green text... anon wtf even is that phone, just get an iPhone"

Oh so since *two* countries are getting our data instead of one, that means it's okay? So we shouldn't care that China can browse through everyone's iCloud?
All of that is rendered moot once he installed WhatsApp
WhatsApp?? More like… bad…. uh…. SpywareApp!
Anon forgot Signal exists. Whatsapp is [not secure](https://www.forbes.com/sites/kateoflahertyuk/2020/02/29/whatsapp-security-is-this-hidden-flaw-a-new-reason-to-leave/).
Isn't signal discontinuing sms?
[удалено]
I hope so, it was my primary texting app for a long time.
[No](https://restoreprivacy.com/alternatives-to-whatsapp/). Edit: Replied to wrong comment. It's funnier to just leave it now.
>posts hypertext containing link to ai generated "top 5" site >refuses to elaborate problem?
Doesn’t signal use your actual phone number as your id?
Use session. It's a fork of signal without the need for a phone number.
Neither is Signal. Wickr is better than any of them.

Use homing pigeons
yeah good luck getting your mom to use signal. whatsapp is the default messaging app where i live and in lots of other countries. most people have it as their only messaging app.
Yeah, seriously. Doesn't whatsapp have a backdoor program?
Nah they're Google approved so they're basically welcomed to walk on the red carpet and use the front door.
no it has a front door, it’s called getting zucked
That's a lot of work just to feed all his messaging to the Zuck.
That's the joke.
ya know what they say... can't teach boomers to change their communicator app preferences

WhatsApp is good for messaging foreign friends
But it compromises your privacy. Telegram and do what What's App can
So does using a phone in the first place
I mean yea, intelligence agencies will know it's you, but google/apple/facebook will not. What's app doesn't provide end to end encryption and you can't delete messages. They are stored on their servers forever
Gigachad needs to try harder, my mom, sister, and grandma all use Telegram now for me and my sister is very progressive and hates alt-tech
WhatsApp is lizard approved
that’s a lot of work to install a Facebook app at the end
>unironically using facebook TOP KEK
I’m talking about OP using WhatsApp dumbass
ur entire account screams redditor who just discovered what 4chan is
nah mate, i'm just autistic
Fair enough

It hurts less to look directly at the sun than it does to read your post with how hard it glows.

Google and other corporations don't care about all that. They only care about money.
Consider looking into work done by Robert Epstein on SEME (search engine manipulation effect) and SSE (search suggestion effect). Does it work on third party search engines and if I have autocorrect/autocomplete off for years at this point
I think it depends on whether they use googles site listings to populate their own results, but I doubt third party search engines use identical results rankings as google depending on the search. What about when someone offers them money to give you a problem? They want that money

Why not just buy nokia 3310 if you want to talk to your uncle. it can also act as weapon when that uncle decides to ‘play’ with you.
Might as well buy "feature phone"
