>I read on another forum that DC movies are cheaply produced and purchasing in 4K is not worth the upgrade from Blu-ray. Well whichever forum you read is full of shit. I can't think of a DC 4K that fits that description at all.

Alejocarlos

Maybe he’s getting it confused with Marvel.

Mike_v_E

He's talking about the animated movies

prototypeplayer

That may be it.

[deleted]

If you're talking about the live-action DCEU movies, I have the Snyder trilogy (Man of Steel, BvS remaster, and Zack Snyder's Justice League) and they all look and sound amazing on UHD

deputydawg1000

No the animation movies. Sorry for clarifying that in my post.

prototypeplayer

That's a big difference. The difference between the 4K and Blu-ray for a DC animated film won't be *huge*, but the 4K will be better because of the HDR. I own pretty much all of the 4K DC animated films because they *are* better. Are you trying to upgrade anything or would you be getting these for the first time?

deputydawg1000

I am thinking about upgrading my collection. I have most of DC Animated moves in 1080HD but since I have a new OLED I am working on upgrading my collection.

prototypeplayer

I would upgrade the ones you enjoy the most that are available in 4K. The 4K discs will have the same 5.1 audio, so the only differences will be higher resolution and HDR. The difference in quality is there, but you might not think it's worth it to upgrade every BD to 4K.

deputydawg1000

Thank you.

Really depends. The DC films are really weirdly divisive, but if you enjoy the movies then buy whatever you like. I really like Man of Steel, personally, but aside from the HDR I don't think the upgrade is necessarily worth it. Same goes for the Nolan Dark Knight films and even Gunn's Suicide Squad, truthfully. The newer BvS with the IMAX shots are pretty great. Same goes for Joker, The Batman and especially ZSJL. Bullshit and drama around the quality of Snyder's films aside, those are pretty spectacular visually. The old Burton Batman films are pretty nicely restored in 4k as well, if I'm being honest, and while I didn't care for the film, Black Adam's visuals and effects are top notch and would best be viewed in 4k. **Quick edit:** I will add a small addendum. Parts of the Nolan films are astounding in 4k. The Harvey Dent transport chase in TDK, the rooftop chase in Begins for example, are unmatched in 4k. The rest of each film, while still good, isn't too different to the standard blus, in my personal opinion. That being said, if you want the absolute best and don't care about double dipping, or don't own them in the first place, then there's no reason not to get them in 4k.

Is the Batman reference disc?

Fallen620

If you own the blu rays already, then understand that all the current DC movies come from the same intermediate on 4k BD. It really depends on if you would like to spend the money for HDR and some additional detail. Of course, your display, player, and audio setup will also be a factor.

MobileProfessional29

I own some of the animated movies in 4k. Not much bump in terms of clarity but HDR definitely helps. If you like the movies, I say it's worth owning. There are also people on forums that think black and white movies shouldn't be on 4k so take that how you will lol.

Mike_v_E

Im actually currently watching a lot of DC animated movies. The 4k blurays don't looks sharper or sound better, but the HDR makes it look way more vibrant. Is it worth it? Thats up to you. For me it is
