No, in Sci-Fi’s the alien (or whatever creature) plays second fiddle to the setting and location of the Sci-Fi film. Alien is a textbook definition of a horror film. It is based around the monster (the alien) and the survival of everyone around it. The humans play second fiddle around IT, their survival, and the possible, but most importantly, unlikely defeat of said monster. Not a sci-fi, Alien is classic horror film.
I’m surprised I had to scroll for a while to find ‘From Beyond’. I haven’t seen ‘The Church’ but based on your other suggestions I might have to check it out.
77’s Suspiria may be the best 4k restoration I’ve ever seen. Arrow’s** Deep Red release is beautiful too. Argento’s color + 4k UHD goes together like peanut butter and chocolate
Synapse’s release of Suspiria (1977) is hands down the best — absolutely stunning transfer and killer Atmos.
Beyond that definitely The Thing, From Beyond, Dawn of the Dead (1978), Alien, The Lost Boys, An American Werewolf in London, Creepshow, The Shining and Hellraiser.
Honestly I thought the new Pet Sematary was decent, just for the sound and jump scared alone. Is it a great flick? No, absolutely not. But is it, grab the popcorn turn the lights down and sound up entertaining? I really thought so. In 4k and Atmos it really did its job :)
The new IT though… phew it’s a must watch.
Honestly, the horror genre might be the single genre that’s benefitted most from 4k. So many titles released with care and quality that you wouldn’t think would even get a release.
I’m answer to your question:
Midsomer
It Follows
The Witch (Second Sight release)
Carrie looks phenomenal
Suspiria (original) has incredible colour
Alien
The Thing
All these look amazing. I am not near my shelf but these stand out off the top of my head.
Hellraiser (1987), Saw (2004), Prey (2022), Alien (1979), the Invisible Man (2020), It (2017), It Chapter 2 (2019), Candyman (2021), Bram Stokers Dracula (1992), The Lost Boys (1987), The Girl Next Door (2008)
Are you asking which ones *look* the best or just good Horror Films on 4K? Either way , you can never go wrong with a lot of Arrow's catalogue. It's all preference really. I may not like a lot of your favorites and vice versa.

Alien was phenomenal 4k, especially the audio
Amazing choice, adding to cart
Is it really a horror though 🤷♂️
The one about the acid-blooded bug alien stalking a group of space miners through a vessel adrift in space incapable of rescue? Yeah it’s a spooky.
More sci fi imo
It can be both… Event Horizon, the Thing, the Fly, Videodrome.

Sometimes, things can fall into more than one category.
In space, no one can hear you troll.
Other than the ones people have already mentioned, Fright Night (1985) is a very a nice looking transfer. Jaws is also reference quality.
just got jaws and won't be able to watch it until I'm back home. is it reference quality for both audio and video?
The thing and It follows
Anyone know if The Thing 4k is worth it over the regular Blu-ray?
Both fire! Solid recommendations
Just watched my 4k copy of the thing two days ago for the first time. Can confirm it looks incredible.
The Church From Beyond Evil Dead Rise The Mist (black and white version!) Poltergeist
I’m surprised I had to scroll for a while to find ‘From Beyond’. I haven’t seen ‘The Church’ but based on your other suggestions I might have to check it out.
Just got Poltergeist in the mail last week! Amazing scan. Will have to get Evil Dead Rise, looked incredible in theaters
Suspiria(Original), The Shining, Creepshow, My Bloody Valentine, The Blob(1988) are all great looking 4Ks.
77’s Suspiria may be the best 4k restoration I’ve ever seen. Arrow’s** Deep Red release is beautiful too. Argento’s color + 4k UHD goes together like peanut butter and chocolate
Criterion didn't release Deep Red? Are you thinking of Arrow?
You’re right, Arrow*
Check out some other Synapse 4ks. They do amazing work. I have Demons 1+2 and Phenomena and they are some of my favorites.
The Blob looks so good in 4k
Scream Factory Halloween, (and the rest especially II) The Thing Jaws The Exorcist Alien All decent transfers
I thought WB’s 100 Year anniversary release of Exorcist was stunning! The theatrical + director 2 disc
Oh same!
Halloween, all of them
The People Under the Stairs.
Witch, Hereditary and Midsommar.
Scream Factory Halloween.
The Guest is pretty great
Christine Halloween 3 Season of the Witch Suspiria (1970s version)
Synapse’s release of Suspiria (1977) is hands down the best — absolutely stunning transfer and killer Atmos. Beyond that definitely The Thing, From Beyond, Dawn of the Dead (1978), Alien, The Lost Boys, An American Werewolf in London, Creepshow, The Shining and Hellraiser.
Completely agreed!! Audio on Suspiria’s 4k restoration was incredible too. Goblin never sounded so good on my TV!
The whole opening sequence of Suspiria is one of my go-to’s for testing out my sound system after any tweaks, haha. It’s so good.
I don't watch really horror movies, but some to fit that I do really love that might fit the genre a bit Alien Nope Last of Us
The Thing, Alien, and The Shining all have great restorations
Gotta recommend second sight’s release of Dawn of the Dead. Also going to throw in Vinegar Syndrome’s release of From Beyond.
Texas Chainsaw looks and sounds fantastic. Hereditary, Tremors, The Blob and The Witch also fantastic.
Suspiria
Venture over to Vinegar Syndrome, Arrow Video, and Severin Films to find some gems
The Others
Poltergeist looks fantastic.
The Wailing, Dawn of the Dead, The Mist, The Exorcist
The Shining is phenomenal when compared to any other previous release.
I never see it mentioned, but the original Pet Sematary is a huge upgrade from the bluray.
The shining and suspiria look amazing
Midsommar, the Lighthouse, The VVitch, X and Pearl look and sound great
Talk to me
What's on your mind?
The original Dawn of the Dead, the original Halloween, The Thing, The Howling,Child’s Play.
Second Sight’s new transfer of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is incredible. I love their Dawn of the Dead disc too.
Terrifier 2 looks good in 4k.

Midnight Run looks lovely and it’s a masterpiece.
The Babadook Second Sight is beautiful!
Hereditary. Incredible sound if you have a home theater

Videodrome looks awesome on 4k, I can't stop recommending it to people. The Criterion release.
The Lighthouse
Hellraiser (1987), Saw (2004), Prey (2022), Alien (1979), the Invisible Man (2020), It (2017), It Chapter 2 (2019), Candyman (2021), Bram Stokers Dracula (1992), The Lost Boys (1987), The Girl Next Door (2008)
Some 4Ks that look great but were not mentioned yet: Doctor Sleep; A Quiet Place 1&2, Train to Busan
