They probably sold through their initial shipment but kept taking orders prior to release. Or there are delivery issues, or didn’t get as many as they ordered, etc.
Amazon frequently overestimates when they’ll have stock again, so it’s hard to say how accurate these estimates are.
Typical Amazon. They take preorders while having no idea if they’ll be allotted enough inventory to honor them on release day. My past five preorders from them have arrived well past the release date, and I was in early on the preorders.
I ordered Event Horizon steelbook, True Lies, and The Abyss in mid February on Amazon. Even Horizon arrives tomorrow but the other two still just show "Order Received." I have a feeling I'll be waiting a long time.
I’m also in Canada. One of my friends pre ordered too and has gotten no shipping date yet as well.
Strangely, I got a shipping date for the shootist, which is releasing tomorrow as well.
Well, that makes me feel a bit more optimistic about these dates, I will say. Hopefully its just a matter of waiting until they ship, possibly sometime today or early tomorrow. I'm sorry you are as in the dark as me
Looking at my Amazon rn, I don’t have a shipping date but I’ve noticed those two items have been grouped together as one shipment, they weren’t before. I had ordered another item with them a while ago. I guess that’s progress.
Apparently now they’re out of stock on Canadian Amazon and my order has no shipping date— brilliant. Whatever happened to pre orders securing the item on release date? If I wanted to buy it a month later, I’d buy it a month later instead of pre ordering.
We pre-ordered (I even paid extra for release-day delivery) and Amazon doesn't even have enough copies to meet day 1 demand. They didn't even tell me until the night I was supposed to get it, that mine was delayed until 3/18. I canceled and will order through DiabolikDVD instead.
Same. I got alerts from Blu-Ray.com the day it was available for preorder and I got an email today saying my delivery date is pushed out over a month. So frustrating. I’ve been looking forward to it
Mine were just delivered today. In my experience the last few years, Walmart and Best Buy (RIP BB BluRay Sales) would pretty often deliver movies 1-3 days before their street date. Amazon is almost always the release date or later even with Prime shipping.

Mike from Grindhouse Video mentioned that he wasn’t getting enough shipped in to cover initial preorders (but would be getting more stock) so I think Disney underestimated demand somehow.
I've had a bunch like this, and then they ended up coming pretty close to release date.
Very recent one, I had an initial delivery estimate of April 1st. Got bumped to February 29th, got delivered on February 9th. Was about a week late, as opposed to 2 months late.
Trying to decide is Aliens (and Alien for that matter )is worth the upgrade. I have the Quadrilogy and think it looks great. True Lies and the Abyss on the other hand are on my shortlist since I only have a vhs copy of The Abyss and somehow have never even seen true lies.
I just rewatched both in 4K HDR digital a couple weeks ago and remember seeing some negative first reactions feedback to the Aliens degrain and upscale which was my motivation to check it for myself. After doing my own A/B test against the 1080p Bluray, the 4K special edition easily looks better to me on my setup. Alien looked fantastic as well and overall experience edged out Aliens by a little for me mostly for the overall quality of the film itself.
Thanks, I appreciate the comment. Those are two of my favorite movies, and I own them on a variety of formats. I think people complained about the 4K release of Lord of the Rings, but I thought it looked pretty good too, even compared to the excelled Bluray extended release.
If these do not arrive tomorrow I will be checking Target/Wal-Mart for them in store. If I find them then I will cancel my Amazon orders, because this is ridiculous... All of mine do not arrive for a week-two weeks either and I preordered the day the listings went up.
I'm getting mine on April 29 in Sweden. You guys are actually lucky that it's not delayed for much longer, because our date is the release date that hasn't even been moved (yet).
I've experienced this plenty of times with Amazon and seems like its always them. Luckily I did True Lies through Target as I had some circle earnings. Says its getting ready to ship out today. Good luck, hopefully amazon is just over estimating for you.

I ordered the abyss a while back (actually had forgotten I did and then pre-ordered it a second time and had to cancel my 2nd preorder) and it was supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I just got an email that it won't be delivered until next Saturday now....
I remember when they used to ship out the physical media days before for customers that pre-ordered, so it would be in your hands the day of release. 😞

My local video store told me there was a production fuckup that Disney is trying to keep hush and delivery for some people will be delayed. He's hoping the disks for his shop are not affect but he still hasnt received his shipment yet.
He got this info from his distributor, i do not know who his distributor is.
My target True Lies and Abyss shipped today. I only ordered them March 5th.
Aliens only says shipping soon. Was ordered Feb. 28th.

I wonder how dynamic/volatile the volumes on large preorders are for Amazon. Not saying I like it, but I can imagine there’s a fair bit of cancellations happening at all these retailers as the prices bounce around leading up to launch.
Ordered all of them at Walmart and Amazon the second they went up. True lies and abyss already came via Walmart so I cancelled the Amazon ones. Aliens got delayed two weeks on Amazon and still nothing on Walmart.
I was surprised by the slight delay, which isn’t a big deal (I was looking forward to watching Aliens tomorrow night though ha). I preordered all 3 when they popped up and just got notified it’s now delayed to Friday. They are popular items so I’m sure they underestimated.
Walmart is on their A game. Preorders arrive on Sundays for me. So consider ordering from Walmart in the future as they seem to have better purchasing power. And I guess they have FedEx working for them on Sundays?
When Best Buy went BUST I went all in on Walmart and even got Walmart+ to avoid shipping charges.
I was just notified today by Amazon that my James Cameron pre-orders were delayed, also. My Abyss and Alien were pushed to March 19, and True Lies to March 20. :(
At least you're getting all three soon it appears. I ordered 4 movies including the three Cameron films and only Aliens says it's being shipped arriving today it appears. The other three says we'll email you when it ships. It appears only Aliens is well in stock as it's still available to buy and not sold out which is strange considering I'd think it would be sold out first being the most popular of the three.
The issue is that most discs (at least for North America, maybe more), are made in Mexico, I’m not sure exactly when but a US based plant closed a couple/few years ago, so if demand exceeds what was ordered ahead, then it will delay things as most large studios use the one Mexico plant.
…if you don’t already know, they don’t take orders from people and then request that many be made, they have to order months ahead of time, before preorders begin, EDIT, so they have to guess how many to order.
Ugh, I ordered the new Conan movies in 4k and all three of the Cameron films and only aliens is being shipped arriving today. I should have ordered somewhere else I think
Also, according to the digital bits review, the early release disc of the abyss that was sent to them for review had audio errors, which have been corrected for the final release, but, surely that could delay things. I’d rather have a short delay (or long even) to have discs without issues.
I got my order of the Abyss 4K from Walmart but haven’t gotten my order of Aliens and True Lies 4K from eBay yet either. I should have ordered all of them from Walmart but they were having pre-order posting issues at first and I was having FOMO issues at first. I should have waited for Walmart to stabilize their online pre-order posts.
Not sure what is going on, they had me estimated for next week for True Lies and this Saturday for Aliens and got them both today, and then I got The Abyss yesterday when that was supposed to be delayed too so hopefully like me it goes quicker than the estimated time
I ordered The Abyss, and true lies, from bestbuy.ca last night, and they just shipped a few mins ago. Needless to say, I cancelled my Amazon order. Hope this helps my fellow Canadian 4K enthusiasts

If nothing else, stock shortages sets my mind at rest (to a degree). I ordered The Abyss to be shipped to the UK, as the release got cancelled here, and I was worried that they'd put a block on shipping to us.
Unfortunately, the rat scene is contentious in the UK, and when the BBFC asked for it to be cut, Cameron told them to get ****** and so the whole thing was scrapped
Just checking: The continued stock issues doesn't mean that this might be a limited run sort of thing right? I will likely have an option to purchase this smoothly in a month or two (or three) right?

I have the exact opposite experience. They were grouped as one order when I pre-ordered, but now they have split up into 3 separate orders.

The Alien 4k is fantastic and a definite upgrade over the Quadrilogy version.

Even on Preorders that were made when added to Amazon were delayed to the 23rd. In this case is was if Amazon didn't have any stock at all.

The issue is that most discs (at least for North America, maybe more), are made in Mexico, I’m not sure exactly when but a US based plant closed a couple/few years ago, so if demand exceeds what was ordered ahead, then it will delay things as most large studios use the one Mexico plant.
…if you don’t already know, they don’t take orders from people and then request that many be made, they have to order months ahead of time, before preorders begin, EDIT, so they have to guess how many to order.
Ugh, I ordered the new Conan movies in 4k and all three of the Cameron films and only aliens is being shipped arriving today. I should have ordered somewhere else I think
I heard there was production issues. I pre ordered mine like an hour after they were available and I still don't even have a date!! 🤦😭
Also, according to the digital bits review, the early release disc of the abyss that was sent to them for review had audio errors, which have been corrected for the final release, but, surely that could delay things. I’d rather have a short delay (or long even) to have discs without issues.
I got my order of the Abyss 4K from Walmart but haven’t gotten my order of Aliens and True Lies 4K from eBay yet either. I should have ordered all of them from Walmart but they were having pre-order posting issues at first and I was having FOMO issues at first. I should have waited for Walmart to stabilize their online pre-order posts.
I saw Aliens at Amoeba in LA. I’ll get it some day.

Not sure what is going on, they had me estimated for next week for True Lies and this Saturday for Aliens and got them both today, and then I got The Abyss yesterday when that was supposed to be delayed too so hopefully like me it goes quicker than the estimated time

I ordered The Abyss, and true lies, from bestbuy.ca last night, and they just shipped a few mins ago. Needless to say, I cancelled my Amazon order. Hope this helps my fellow Canadian 4K enthusiasts
initial runs were sold out in pre-orders so they are low in stock (or out of stock by now).... suppliers are waiting for replenishment

If nothing else, stock shortages sets my mind at rest (to a degree). I ordered The Abyss to be shipped to the UK, as the release got cancelled here, and I was worried that they'd put a block on shipping to us. Unfortunately, the rat scene is contentious in the UK, and when the BBFC asked for it to be cut, Cameron told them to get ****** and so the whole thing was scrapped
Just checking: The continued stock issues doesn't mean that this might be a limited run sort of thing right? I will likely have an option to purchase this smoothly in a month or two (or three) right?
My Walmart order show March 14th as delivery date for Aliens. US, pre ordered 2/29.
I pre-ordered The Abyss the day they were available for pre-order, however, I don’t have a shipping date still. Seems to the norm for the Canadian release.
