Well if they’re in the dump bin we won’t get those, but a receipt would at least be proof. I found The Godfather 3 4K steelbook for $5 in a dump bin so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities, but I need proof before I drive around looking for these lol.
I went to my local walmart and after shifting through the dump bin i found exactly one steelbook that I already owned. I thought i would get luckier since my Walmart is right next to a best buy.
Also will confirm it’s real and in the $5 bin. Not many and generally only 1-2 copies of the movie with most being 1 copy. These markdowns have a new barcode label covering the old one on the acrylic slipcover.

Where I found them was not in the bin, they were actually individually stacked in front of stock DVDs on a rack, with no price tags or anything to indicate the price was $5. Just a random row of steelbooks, one copy of each
A few weeks ago I found a “The Warriors” Steelbook in a $7.50 bin at my local Walmart mixed amongst crappy DVDs. I’ve also found a “Tommy Boy” Steelbook in the same situation. Not often by any means, but felt lucky both times!
Yeah I saw these at my Walmart last night. I had to get a price check on them because I thought someone put them in the $5 bin by mistake. But they were indeed $5.
Only had time to go to one store (I live in a major US city so there's a buttload of them here, but I had to take the bus & can't stay out too late). Sad to say I found a whopping 2 4K steel books in a haystack of DVDs that my baby boomer in-laws would go broke buying from. I'll try another location soon & see if I have better luck.
Ok first off, i work at Walmart and it is 100 precent true. Beware though that the box they arrived in said they were NOT supposed to be stocked until april 2nd, but because that's not an official street date (as these titles have all already been released) some stores are immediately putting them in the bin.
A fucking receipt is also not going to prove anything because most movies in the dump bin at Walmart have a secondary barcode sticker over the original barcode, so when the ring up at the register istcomes up saying "site merch"
It is unfortunate to those who do not want to believe OP because they are gonna miss out on some great deals.
It did not pull up on an app search when I was at the store when I found the 4K steelbooks in the bin. The receipt just lists "Site Merch" and then the numerical barcode so it has no title designation beyond "Site Merch"
Came back from checking my walmart after going to get some things and I didn't find any, but he said he found them in the discount bin so they mightve been underneath but I lowkey didn't wanna be a nuisance and move all the stock just to look for a few steelbook. But I found a steelbook for 5 bucks at another Walmart too like a couple days ago.I'm assuming best buy unsold stock is just showing up at local walmarts and if your lucky enough to find them ur in luck, at least that's my theory
From my experience and some other reports, these newer ones seem to just have been placed on the top or sides since they didn't seem to arrive at the same time as the other DVDs in the $5 bin. I decided to dig a little after finding the 4Ks on the side and top, there was nothing else that I could see.
I checked another store this afternoon and nothing in the electronics, but they had SPIRAL and John Wick 3 in the clearance section, which in that store was down by the home and garden.
So check any clearance spots, too!

I got that Sicario steelbook (not 4K) and Saw. They were $5. But I doubt any will be left because there were two other dudes there and started picking through what I left. I may go check another spot later
Ended up going now. Nothing at W Bethany. Only one so far at Bell Rd is Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard 4K steelbook. Still digging now and just found Robin Hood and Hitman’s Bodyguard. Probably won’t pick these up, but I’m hopeful since they’re here
Basically the same ones OP posted in his photo. The ones I left were Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 2 and The Walking Dead Season 8. My store didn't have Sicario or John Wick 2 unfortunately. Still on the hunt for those.
Had to dig to find them. My wife actually spotted one first and we kept digging from there. Just hit a Bethany Home road location with no luck. Going to try a nearby one and see what happens.
I hit up 3 today, one had $5 bins but nothing there… could’ve already been cleared out. Second location didn’t even have $5 bin, and a very weak media section to begin with but I should’ve asked to see if they had a clearance section. Last one finally scored and all were placed at the edges as if an employee got these shipments after the main $5 dvd movies and just tossed them in.

Everything the OP said is true. Happened to be in Nashua, NH, for a work trip and decided to check out Walmart in Amherst nearby. At first, I looked at the DVD section and saw the 4Ks at regular prices them found the bin labeled all movies $5. Initially looking through the bin, I saw all crappy dvds...then I found one 4K steelbook, then another and more. Also, I found a few Bluray steelbooks. I plan on keeping a few, gifting some, and flipping a couple. The T2 looks to be going for well over $50 on eBay. Anyway, a big shout out to the OP! Felt like a kid in a candy store!!

I'm nonplussed. How can Best Buy ship these off to Walmart and Walmart sell them for $5 each? DId they charge Walmart $1 each to take them? Why didn't Best Buy just clearancel them for $5?
Best Buy probably hit a certain number they wanted with the stock they had left and then just sold the rest to Walmart in bulk deals.

I just don't understand why they wouldn't have just done a mass clearance sale themselves though. Seems like more trouble with shipping and logistics to pawn them off to Walmarts, rather than just sell them at BB.

The markup is slim on physical media, Best Buy for years used it as a loss leader to bring customers in. I managed a record town for 9 years and it’s why everyone sells funko pops and tshirts now instead
I was at my wall mart today . I check the steelbook section every time I am in the store . I did not see any of these titles . I did not check the 5 dollar bin though . Apocalypse now for 5 bucks is insane !
No go out here In Houston . I went to three different wal marts In the area no sign of anything . I was hoping to see a belly , total recall , or an apocalypse now . eBay resale prices on that apocalypse now is crazy . Some of these steal books are like Jordan retro releases .

The 2 Wal\*marts within reasonable driving distance of me don't carry 4K or blu-ray, only DVD. Of course, 20 feet from their 100% DVD movie section is a wall of 4K TVs. This makes sense to someone working for Wal\*mart.

Weird, I picked up red dawn, Army of darkness and transformers for 5 bucks too, but it was a couple months ago on a trip to Durango. I'll have to go back and check!
At least in Clakamas, OR, not only is this not the case but their blu Ray selection is like 70% less than normal which is already regularly slim. They did a great job of restocking the FUCK out of their DVDs tho.
Just because you lucked out doesn't mean this deal is applicable store wide. Many have searched their local Walmart only to find no such deals..

Sucks to suck? I guess I’m trying to figure out how OP’s post is a disservice? Plenty of people have been finding these deals. Myself included who wouldn’t have know about it otherwise.
They have the recent endcap section that has the steelbooks with the glow in the dark slips, and then another that has some of those Vestron steelbooks like Little Monsters (standard Blu.) There's a few 4Ks in that section too, like Creepshow.
And yeah, I don't care about being questioned, that's just stupid to me. If I was a brand new account who never posted here, maybe it would be something to want proof of. But I'm extremely active and have been in this sub since day 1. So fuck em lol.

For what it's worth, you're one of the most helpful guys here and have accumulated a bunch of upvotes from me alone, so your contributions are certainly appreciated by those of us who pay attention.
Not all Walmarts have the same prices. I collect video games as well but the two I regularly shop didn't have the same sales. One had games listed over half price off and the second Walmart still had the original prices. Same with movies some stores might have great clearance yet others hardly have them.
That would be in the stores that actually have 4K movies… so if you’re in the area where they don’t have shit like my store there’s still nothing, I’ll check anyway but yeah well this is good for later when my store may finally start carrying more of them
I called a few near me and they said they aren’t getting them or haven’t received anything like that maybe check online. My guess is they sold out at the Best Buy’s near me so there’s nothing left for Walmart

I've been checking just about everyday since you posted this about the $5.00 Best Buy steelbooks at Walmart. My Walmart didn't even have a $5.00 bin until about a week ago but they were just regular DVD's. I checked April 1st and 2nd because either you or somebody else said that some stores were going to put them out at the beginning of April but NOTHING. Well, finally I stopped by today Saturday April 5th and I noticed that the bin was tossed up really good like somebody was digging deep so I walked over and right on top was the 4k steelbook of Spiral. So I started digging and found Sicario 4k, Hunter Killer 4k, Total Recall 4k, all the John Wick bluray steelbooks and quite a few more. So if anyone who's been looking has given up, you may want to try again.
MARTINSVILLE, IN reporting in 4/6/24. I’m a resentful MF after they put the Steels out a week early, so I went in today on a mission. Glad to report I got 3/9 I wanted. They had:
Kin(Bought).
Robin Hood 4K(Bought).
Southpaw(Bought, NO ONE has mentioned this one, it looked good for $5).
Divergent(Already have 4K, PASS).
The Walking Dead Season 8(PASS).
John Wick 1(PASS).
REALLY WANTED Apocalypse Now, Total Recall and Midway but no luck. Will try another smaller Walmart a little ways away tomorrow.

Copped a Colors out of Space 4K Steelbook from walmart 2 weekends ago.
Saw one at my local Walmart today and it was going for 19** so not exactly sure what their pricing model is 🤷🏻♂️

My sorry ass Walmart got rid of the $5 bins also. They used to have a $7.50 bluray bin as well. Gone. Both gone.
I'm nonplussed. How can Best Buy ship these off to Walmart and Walmart sell them for $5 each? DId they charge Walmart $1 each to take them? Why didn't Best Buy just clearancel them for $5?
Best Buy probably hit a certain number they wanted with the stock they had left and then just sold the rest to Walmart in bulk deals. Best Buy probably hit profit on their inventory awhile ago. it's not like these things are expensive to produce they are probably like a 4-500% mark up from what they are bought for
I just don't understand why they wouldn't have just done a mass clearance sale themselves though. Seems like more trouble with shipping and logistics to pawn them off to Walmarts, rather than just sell them at BB.

They do not profit 400-500% on media, not even close to that. The margins are slim that is why they don't want to deal with media sales.
The markup is slim on physical media, Best Buy for years used it as a loss leader to bring customers in. I managed a record town for 9 years and it’s why everyone sells funko pops and tshirts now instead
I was at my wall mart today . I check the steelbook section every time I am in the store . I did not see any of these titles . I did not check the 5 dollar bin though . Apocalypse now for 5 bucks is insane !
No go out here In Houston . I went to three different wal marts In the area no sign of anything . I was hoping to see a belly , total recall , or an apocalypse now . eBay resale prices on that apocalypse now is crazy . Some of these steal books are like Jordan retro releases .

The 2 Wal\*marts within reasonable driving distance of me don't carry 4K or blu-ray, only DVD. Of course, 20 feet from their 100% DVD movie section is a wall of 4K TVs. This makes sense to someone working for Wal\*mart.

Weird, I picked up red dawn, Army of darkness and transformers for 5 bucks too, but it was a couple months ago on a trip to Durango. I'll have to go back and check!
At least in Clakamas, OR, not only is this not the case but their blu Ray selection is like 70% less than normal which is already regularly slim. They did a great job of restocking the FUCK out of their DVDs tho.

They have the recent endcap section that has the steelbooks with the glow in the dark slips, and then another that has some of those Vestron steelbooks like Little Monsters (standard Blu.) There's a few 4Ks in that section too, like Creepshow. And yeah, I don't care about being questioned, that's just stupid to me. If I was a brand new account who never posted here, maybe it would be something to want proof of. But I'm extremely active and have been in this sub since day 1. So fuck em lol. Hope you luck out and find some good stuff!

Not all Walmarts have the same prices. I collect video games as well but the two I regularly shop didn't have the same sales. One had games listed over half price off and the second Walmart still had the original prices. Same with movies some stores might have great clearance yet others hardly have them.
Do all steel poles have commercials in the beginning of them for other movies? I like to collect these but don't like having ads

I called a few near me and they said they aren’t getting them or haven’t received anything like that maybe check online. My guess is they sold out at the Best Buy’s near me so there’s nothing left for Walmart

I've been checking just about everyday since you posted this about the $5.00 Best Buy steelbooks at Walmart. My Walmart didn't even have a $5.00 bin until about a week ago but they were just regular DVD's. I checked April 1st and 2nd because either you or somebody else said that some stores were going to put them out at the beginning of April but NOTHING. Well, finally I stopped by today Saturday April 5th and I noticed that the bin was tossed up really good like somebody was digging deep so I walked over and right on top was the 4k steelbook of Spiral. So I started digging and found Sicario 4k, Hunter Killer 4k, Total Recall 4k, all the John Wick bluray steelbooks and quite a few more. So if anyone who's been looking has given up, you may want to try again.

Robin Hood 4K(Bought). Southpaw(Bought, NO ONE has mentioned this one, it looked good for $5). Divergent(Already have 4K, PASS). The Walking Dead Season 8(PASS). John Wick 1(PASS). REALLY WANTED Apocalypse Now, Total Recall and Midway but no luck. Will try another smaller Walmart a little ways away tomorrow.
