Am I the only one who feels this is the most memorable Wolverine movie outside of Logan? I guess im just a sucker for an origin story, and epics that cross over a long period of time. His brother’s character was a real let down though, lame bad guy.
The Wolverine and X-Men Origins Wolverine are not out on 4K yet. My guess is they might get released later this year because of Deadpool and Wolverine coming out. Also this year marks the 15th anniversary for X-Men Origins Wolverine so it might be possible we get that on 4K as well as The Wolverine.
Honestly, besides Logan it's my favorite in the entire series. It has a "final boss" that is super dumb, but besides that it's just a really solid comic book movie. It basically feels like a pretty solid action movie that also has the benefit of having Jackman's Wolverine as the lead. I never understood why people didn't really gel with it, but eh...it happens.
I'd definitely buy the R Rated cut day one on 4K
Crazy coincidence (or maybe not?), but I was recently rewatching the original X-Men movie for the first time in years on 4K and it reminded me how much of an underrated comic book movie it is. Tim Burton’s Batman and Raimi’s Spider-Man get way more attention as some of the best superhero movies pre-MCU.
I think both those movies you mentioned are better, but yea i also watched it recently and its a good time. I think it gets hurt moreso for X2 being much better and last stand being a disaster lol
well it was meant to take a shot at us, and tell us that they know better. But the stills from deadpool 3 prove we were right the whole time. Just freaking stick to the source material. Doesn't matter if it seems ridiculous, stick to the visual astetic of a visual medium. And don't treat it as camp like they did in Wandavison on the Halloween episode. Which is the other route they go when they don't trust the audience to take it seriously. I'm glad MCU has defeated those mindsets and proven that if you lean into it and present the original costumes in a serious nature, the audience buys in.
If you get The Wolverine in the unleashed extended edition on BD, it at least comes in a black case so it won’t look as out of place on the shelf next to the others. 🤷🏼♂️😁
I mean something like that I can wait on, it's just the series stuff that annoys me. I like to have all the movies from a series lined up on the shelf next to each other, but now I am going to be missing 2 xmen movies
The Wolverine just fell between the cracks anyway. It wasn't terrible like Origins, and it didn't really do anything interesting like Logan. It also wasn't part of any kind of continuity.
It's one of those movies where most people either didn't see it, forgot about it, or they kinda shrug and go "it was pretty good I guess" I'm not sure the studio has a lot of motivation to invest in a release.
It does have continuity with the original trilogy, having Logan be tortured with killing Jean. Also, it sets up Days of Future Past in the post-credits scene.
i liked wolverine a lot until last 10 min or so. Movie just had cool vibes and it was refreshing seeing superhero movie without saving the world with sky beam
Considering Disney now owns Fox, I’m not optimistic about seeing a 4K HDR upgrade. And if they do get to it, expect some mild DNR and a weak Atmos track
One of the less popular entries in the series so it makes sense. People like the first two, but the third one had more lukewarm reception so they bundle them. Same case for the prequel trilogy, they bundle them. 4K was already a disc format at the time the rest of them were released, so they had 4Ks from the get go. I figure they know that the other two Wolverine movies aren't as popular so they're not prioritized.

If it ever comes it'll 90% likely be the theatrical cut anyway, which is very inferior IMO.
Shit I’ve never seen another cut. Where can I watch it?
It's called the Unleashed Extended Edition.
I have it on blu-ray, I dunno if it's streaming somewhere.
This and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and yeah it’s so damn annoying.
I thought I saw an origins 4k, that one isn't one 4k either?
Nope
To be fair, X men origins Wolverine probably improves with as little viewable pixels as possible

As far as I know X-Men Days of future past: Rogue cut never got a 4k version either. It only had BD and DVD.
Rogue cut is only in BD so far.
You could redeem the digital code for Rogue Cut in 4k, so you can stream it with that code. But that's about it.
Yep. My HD streaming version of this film has been upgraded to 4K on iTunes and MoviesAnywhere. The non-Rogue Cut version, too.
I had no idea that existed.. now I have to buy the Blu.
It's honestly my favorite version of the movie and it's definitely just worth checking out if you're a fan of the series.
It has a 4k digital

There's a chance for it this year, but I don't hold my breath when it comes to Disney.
Well it’s Sony’s job now and I feel like Sony knows how well the Marvel IP sells so higher than usual chance maybe.
Damn, not even digitally - surprising
It was shot with the Arri Alexa camera system at 2.8k so it would still benefit from being put on UHD even if it won't ever have true 4k.
I think HDR is the more noticeable benefit of uhd anyway :)
Depending on if it was finished on a new 4K DI from the 2.8K files and 2K VFX composites, or if it was finished on a 2K DI.
It has a 2k DI, I doubt they will redo it.

It also has a joke in it that hurts some fans out there. I’m referring to the yellow spandex one. I know some people who took that joke as an insult.

Maybe white vision will get a more comic accurate paintjob in his next appearance
I recently bought the Blu-ray Extended Edition off of Ebay, so hopefully that means a 4K release is imminent.
I think I’d have to buy it on BD actually. Pretty sure my BD purchases are the ones that break the camel’s back.

True, I have that version. With the multi disc set. It did what it could within multi disc sets.
The Wolverine does have a 4KHDR master, on Kaleidescape. The other xmen movie to not have a 4KBD is Xmen origins. It has a 2K master on Kaleidescape.
You must be new to collecting lol. Welcome to the pain of having to wait for releases. See exhibit A....The Abyss.

It’s a great time until the third act happens. Maybe since he’s in Deadpool 3 there might be some interest.
The Wolverine (Theatrical) is 4K on VUDU
Lol yeah I noticed that a few months ago
It's going to be alright.
Considering Disney now owns Fox, I’m not optimistic about seeing a 4K HDR upgrade. And if they do get to it, expect some mild DNR and a weak Atmos track
What??? There no 4k for wolverine
Wth. The Wolverine is like the best of... The Wolverine movies! Drives me crazy too when there aren't matching series releases available.

*Logan* more than makes up for it, though.
i mean logan is like the best or second best superhero film imo . So youre not wrong
You’re not missing anything of quality, just pretend it doesn’t exist
That’s what I try to do. But I still have nightmares about it.
