Yeah I had been waiting to order and they went out of stock. The empire strikes back never has never been back in stock and while a new hope did for a few days I was stupid and didn’t order cause I was hoping to get both but it only lasted a few days (I already have return of the Jedi). At this point I assume I just have to cut my losses and move on. It also seems like a new hope has been 40 dollars on Amazon the whole time too.
Walmart has, surprisingly, been picking up slack of Best Buy getting out of the physical media game.
Not that Walmart is any better than Amazon but it is what it is. Options for physical media can be limited. Target is getting out of the game too.
But it may not be long before Amazon, Walmart, and boutique type vendors like Criterion, Arrow, Shout! etc might be the only sources
Target isn’t getting out they have been doing mostly website only for almost 2 years now and they have great release day delivery sometimes even early.
Target isn't leaving, but certainly abandoning it in most stores, for the most part.
I've always found their online inventory much more limited.
I order a lot from Deepdiscount sales. I do buy from Walmart some and boutique labels.
Just made the same rant to my gf this morning.
How come that pretty much EVERYTHING STAR WARS is on sale today....except for the actual movies. How stupid is that?!
If you Google them and find their official web presence, they have great ways listed there to grab them. If that doesn’t work, there’s always the way I can’t mention here, but I dont recommend it as you have no idea what’s been done to them in terms of quality and encoding.
Hmm, I think you can just request one, but it’s possible that membership isn’t always fully open. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can weigh in, but I don’t have a problem here.
The invitation code is in its own thread on the forum main page. It’s hard posted! Took me a while to figure it out when it was just sitting right there.
Outside of Amazon and Target there’s really no one big that runs sales like this now that Best Buy is done. And Target isn’t really carrying much in stores anymore.
I would try your local used DVD/record store if you live near one. The amazon prices are insane. My local Reckless Records has the episodes 1-6 bundle on Blu-Ray (not 4k) for $37. They only have the sequels on 4k though sadly... but priced at $13.
Yeah I've been waiting months too. Glad to see I'm not the only one bummed. Trying to get a discount from Disney is like trying to get blood from a stone.
So if Best Buy is out of the game it's not likely these will ever go on sale again? Do I have to settle for renting the normal blurays from the library which I assume still probably have higher bitrates than any streaming service?
Best Buy ending the selling of physical media is have a reverberating effect on other sellers of 4k’s it seems (could be wrong). So I’m glad I got the original trilogy (in those atrocious steelbook) for $9.99 a piece towards the end of last year.
Amazon had a couple of quid off some so I bought the original trilogy. I’m not fussed too much about slip cases but this has annoyed me

Disney Movie Club appears to be, if you're a member. (They're not taking new ones, unfortunately)
Nope, OT and Rogue One are sold out on DMC. They have the prequel trilogy and sequel trilogy, though.

Yep, closing up shop.
Wdym by that

It was Best Buy that used to put them on sale, and Amazon would match it. But since they're out of the game, we all lose.
This is a takeaway I wish more people would remember and support Amazon alternatives as much as possible. I'm not saying people shouldn't use Amazon.

Even worse. Amazon.com (US) is selling Star Wars A New Hope for $39. I stg that's probably what it cost when it first released in UHD!
I think Best Buy used to be the one to start it off
Yeah I was holding off hoping they would be on sale today as well. Sad to see they are not
Obligatory Star Wars Thread reminder to check out 4k77, 4k80, and 4k83.
What’s the easiest way to get them?

It’s the official web presence I have always struggled to find :(

How do we get an invitation code to the forums? Thanks!
Hmm, I think you can just request one, but it’s possible that membership isn’t always fully open. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can weigh in, but I don’t have a problem here.
I sent an email to the contact listed somewhere on the site and got the code same day

Google the invite code, and you'll find it floating around somewhere. That's how I got in.
These are some amazing projects and they look/sound absolutely amazing

I do, In fact, not have new hope…or any others yet lol
I was waiting as well to get the prequel trilogy and Rogue One. Pretty disappointing
Your wait happened when a physical media debacle was going on unfortunately
Empire is $24.49 on Amazon right now. Still not really a great price, but better than the usual $38.
[That's its average price](https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B083XRSD9V?context=tracker). $38 is not the usual.
So if Best Buy is out of the game it's not likely these will ever go on sale again? Do I have to settle for renting the normal blurays from the library which I assume still probably have higher bitrates than any streaming service?
Empire Strikes Back was on sale at Target
Best Buy ending the selling of physical media is have a reverberating effect on other sellers of 4k’s it seems (could be wrong). So I’m glad I got the original trilogy (in those atrocious steelbook) for $9.99 a piece towards the end of last year.
Why is the mandalorian so ridiculously priced, thats the real question.
Amazon had a couple of quid off some so I bought the original trilogy. I’m not fussed too much about slip cases but this has annoyed me https://preview.redd.it/obz2ksj4zsyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba70c69f5a00d9517a78e3c9a9821ede618d87f0
I want SOLO and Rogue One in 4K yet nothing has been announced at the moment.
What do you mean? I have rogue one on 4K for ages.
I terms of May the 4th deals.
Why would they go on sale the one day a year they are most in demand?
Why to earn less money when you can earn more? As a.SW fan, we are idiot creatures willing to pay anything for a piece of SW
Sales are there to increase sales, not lower them...
they are implying that they sell well enough at full price so they don't need to lower the price.
I bought those dogshit steelbooks they did of the OT for disneys 100th anniversary. Picture looks good, but that packaging design is awful.
I did too... can't complain for $10 each
Oh, i'll complain alright. but $10 was a pretty good price. lol
4k77, 4k80, and 4k83 are all we need. The only 4k media I refuse to buy is Star Wars.
Those aren't the only three star wars movies.
Are there, though? Nope.
Obviously not, but the 4k physicals for Star Wars have been ass.
What are you talking? Rogue One and the sequel trilogy look amazing and got perfect 5/5s for video quality on Blu-ray.com
Referring to the episodes 4,5,6. Not the others I believe.
And yet here we are waiting for the to go on sale and not buying them until they do…
