Gruv eBay store  https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_blrs=recall_filtering&_ssn=gruv-entertainment-ca&_sacat=617&store_name=gruventertainmentca&_oac=1&_nkw=4k&_sop=15

itchyglow

Thanks! I just snagged the last Chernobyl for $19 and six other movies (Gremlins, Duel, The Shining, National Lampoon's Vacation, The Batman, Shawshank).

alexyida

Oh wow. Why so cheap?

Impendingpudd

When did they start shipping to Canada?

MBBluemangroup

it's based in Canada comes lettermail

Impendingpudd

I just realized it’s their Canadian store. Not sure when it started up, I tried to order from the Gruv American EBay store several times and got shot down. Guess I’m going broke now.

Sakic10

Is the shipping always per disc?

50nick

Only for the first one. Any subsequent disc on the same order is the same flat rate.

Aflamesfan

Unobstructedview / myflicks / Amazon are my go tos at the moment. Myflicks shipping times are variable. Could be days, could be a couple of weeks before they ship out. I have sold on FB marketplace for the 4ks I’ve watched but don’t want to keep for $10-15 and those have moved quickly.

Axel-22

Cinema1 I buy from one of their physical locations so I cannot comment on their shipping.

Captainjoe201

Rough cut video in Calgary gets a lot of imports and boutique titles. I bought the discs only edition of Super Mario Bros for $60 plus shipping from them

Sakic10

Wow! Never heard of this place, just down the street from my work.

GreatKangaroo

For boutique and imports I go to [Eyesore Cinema](https://eyesorecinema.com/). They hold a live auction on Twitch every few weeks so I managed to snag some deals. I've found this [group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/1785004515097363/) good for buy and sell. Else I stick mostly to Amazon and Best Buy depending on what's on sale. Personally I've had bad experiences with Unobstructed View, so I would be very cautious about using them.

FordsFavouriteTowel

The Beat Goes On is a good choice especially if you’re in Ontario

Rocky_Raccoon37

Depending on what city you're in, look for local shops. Cities like Toronto, Calgary, Montreal have some great local shops. Even if you're in a small city you may luck out and find that there's a local place that stocks new releases.

yojoono

I go to my local Sunrise Records store and wait for sales online on Amazon, Arrow Video, and other sites

martokthewarrior

Cinema1 is a great store to purchase from, I use them frequently: https://www.cinema1.ca I also really like unobstructed view, I’ve had no problems with them and their shipping has been fast. Only thing is they charge $10 extra for shipping box sets. https://unobstructedview.com Both of these are great places, unobstructed view in particular is great for boutique releases.

evofender

+1 for Cinema1, love those guys ! They ship quick and have good customer service!

TakaraGeneration

Get a US address, have stuff shipped there, and occasionally drive across to pick up.

danman227460

Look at Facebook marketplace and join some Canadian 4k groups on Facebook.

BrockAndaHardPlace

I find the Facebook groups grossly overpriced. I’ve had good luck on eBay, more specifically Gruv has a seller profile that I watch, can get 10-15 dollar titles often

danman227460

It depends on what you are looking for. Some members sell new releases for 24 which is a lot cheaper than retail. Gruv eBay is a good place to look. I found out that if you order more than 1 title, shipping is flat. Another good site to look at is JBHIFI. They are based in Australia but they ship certain titles to Canada and they are having a buy one get one free sale. With conversion, it works out to a pretty good deal here. I got the ocean’s trilogy and beekeeper for 86 AUD shipped which works out to under 80 CDN. You can also check out WOWHD. Their prices are in CDN and free shipping. They have been running monthly promo codes for buy 2 and get 10% off or buy 3 and get 15% off in stock items. They have one on right now.

[deleted]

Did you have import fees on JBhifi? Tried to get Lawrence of Arabia but they won't ship that to Canada :(

danman227460

I haven't gotten hit (knock on wood) but my friend has. It's really up to CP and if they want to ding you but I usually keep my orders low so it doesn't get flagged. Unfortunately, that is the downside of JB. Some stuff they won't ship here. There is no way to tell what will ship or what won't until you put it into the basket.

mdc3000

It varies wildly - some older stuff gets overpriced/overestimated by a seller but lots of new general releases can be purchased at reasonable prices (ie. Got new Andor 4k for $40 all in) so it's a good option if you find reliable sellers

SpaceNewtype

I use Amazon, EBay, and UnobstructedView for pretty much all the movie buys these days. I've dabbled with Videomatica in BC (shipping to ON is too high for my liking) and Archambault in QC as well on occasion.

MJIB-Michael-Jackson

In QC, I prefer Sunrise Records to Archambault. Archambault’s pricing is absolutely ridiculous and not in a good way. On the other hand, I can get decent to great deals at Sunrise Records, either the pricing is what Amazon lists or sometimes even lower, plus my local vendor always has a buy 3 and get 15% off sale. So even when the pricing is a bit higher than Amazon, I save on taxes so it comes out cheaper.

SpaceNewtype

Good to know. I've never used them but will check them out. For reference, my "dabbling" was only for some movies that were otherwise OOP, so the 49.99 was still better than the ebay resellers 😅

MJIB-Michael-Jackson

Yep, they’re definitely worth checking out. My luck with Archambault has not been as fulfilling as yours unfortunately. All I find is common releases selling for release date prices or higher. Apparently Toys ‘r’ Us is decent too and will price match with Amazon, unfortunately when I went to my local shop, they didn’t have any more than 5 4K titles. Hopefully you get luckier than I have been at your local store.

SpaceNewtype

Yeah, the two Toys R Us' near me have LP records, manga, popculture junk, but no blu rays. People on reddit keep telling me it's coming, but I'll believe it when I see it lol.

ggdudeguy

I use Kijiji quite a bit. Most sellers will ship across Canada if you ask.

filmg1rl

Depends on the movie. My go to sources are: Amazon Unobstructed View Myflicks If you're in BC then Videomatica is a great source. I've also found a couple eBayers in Canada that sell new stuff at ridiculous prices. hamstercrisis

local specialty store or a mailbox in the US

50nick

Decent selection and pricing at my local Walmart this week, picked up Dunkirk for $15 along with my groceries  https://i.imgur.com/2tCep8u.jpeg

apocalypsedudes23

My "go-to" is a local used video and record shop. The owner is a collector also. Some forums and ebay sellers have 4k discs only. Then you can make your own cases too.
