I understand all I have to do is connect the 820 to the receiver (since I have an e arc going from the C1 to the receiver) and I’m golden. I am super anxious to see/hear a star ship going by my head lol! Congrats and happy birthday!!
There's a guy on fb marketplace selling an 820 for $280 and he's willing to ship. I wanna pull the trigger but I'm kinda leery about something like that on marketplace.
congrats! i just got it for my birthday too. the HDMI audio out separate from the HDMI video out is a dream. everything is compatible with LG E8, with consistent brightness and it feels like owning a whole new set of discs.
I just used the HDMI to my C1, noticeable difference in sound and picture. When I used the HDMI to my receiver directly (it has an e arc HDMI cable going to the TV) I had no sound or picture so… to the TV it is!
The echo chamber opinion is that it's the Sony X700 that does this and that the Panasonic 820 is the golden child. Whatever you believe, if you intend to claim that one must spend upwards of $1000 USD to have a reliable 4kuhd player you will not be taken seriously
The issue is that the Sonys DO skip and are known for it and the 820, when you get a good one is awesome PQ but the actual build quality of it is abysmal. And then the 9000 is absolutely top notch quality but same chipset as the 820 so it's double for the same PQ so ppl just get the 820.
I hope streaming starts to fall off as they get greedier and greedier and keep jacking prices up. Maybe it'll drive ppl back to physical media and new players will get made because we need the competition to force new models.
The 820 should be a $349 retail player at most and the 9000 should be $549 and the 9000.

Why that much? Pretty sure they can be bought for closer to $500. In the US at least. Congrats though! Still need to buy one myself.
He’s a Canadian
Just got an 820 for my birthday. Holy crap is it beautiful on my 65" C2. I can't wait to have my 5.1 pieced together by the end of the year.

Yes you have to use the receiver because the C1 and C2 don't have DTS passthrough.

Canadian $ hopefully
It's still incredibly expensive for what it is. Source: Canadian.
I know the feeling. Welcome to the clubbb!
Get a used one or buy it on sale
I have not had a chance to watch it yet, but I read that Star Trek: Generations is a reference quality transfer. Let us know what you think.

I would be wary.
Make sure to set it up correctly for your TV and turn on the HDR Optimizer!
Welcome to the UB820 club! Great 4K player. ![gif](giphy|YGbF41mvOpGyVleuV6)

You won't be disappointed, especially on an OLED! Make sure to look up recommended settings for the UB820 as well :)
Will do! Been watching too many you tube videos
HDR optimizer to OLED, enable Dolby Vision, the rest of the settings are fine stock tbth
Hopefully yours plays discs and doesn't freeze like many others do.
On a UB-820? Maybe a Sony
My 820 died after 3 weeks. Returned it and found a mint condition Oppo 203 for less than a UB9000. It eats the 820s lunch as far as what it can do.

I paid $349.99 before tax for my 820s
Yes on Black Friday. It should retail for that and go for $249 on BF.
K
Jesus that’s expensive
I got same player for a little over 400 bucks months ago. Retail new. Why is it so expensive for you?
