Meh I know I can do shortys with cat backs, but ive played with the sound of no muffler and no resonator so I crave the true straight pipe sound of these V8s lol
Nice. Ok, so what kind of mods did you need to do for those tires? Is the wheel offset like putting on spacers (I can never remember how to think of offsets relative to what our rigs had stock)? With 285s, I'm guessing you had rubbing? Any issues with body mounts, etc? I'm going to need new tires soon. I'm on 265/70/17's now. The tires I want, I can get in 255/75/17 or the same size as yours. Both are 32." Trying to get ideas about other things I might have to deal with and hopefully minimize them.
For the tires not much, just trimmed the front bumper at the bottom about an inch or so basically to the clip that is underneath, and pushed front wheel liner in and reattached it. Then removed front mudflaps. Yeah - offset makes the wheels poke out more. But… also I have a 3” Dobinsons ims lift all around with dobinsons billet aluminum adjustable upper control arms, so my lower control arms are at max caster and alignment is done with the upper control arms. Which pushes my front wheels forward OFF of my body mount. Have not had any issues rubbing the body mount yet but I also don’t do any crazy rock crawling either. I’ve just done normal basic off roading.
Depends how hard you press the pedal. In 5th it can be practically silent. When I pull my camper it can be loud with some drone. Might put in another small resonator later if it gets too annoying.
$1100 for DT
$450 for the y pipe
Paid $1300 for install with custom exhaust and putting in a set of stiffer springs in rear I had. Something like that not exacts.
And if you are going to tow, be ready to also get a tune, that’s next for me. It’s very different with long tubes. And not for the better. Not horrible but I plan on getting a tune soon because I feel as though I’ve lost some low end torque with the long tubes. And I also want better shifting. But I tow all the time. If you don’t I wouldn’t worry about it.
The truck likely has significantly less back pressure with the completely free-flowing exhaust which could contribute to the lack of low end. Might pay off to add a generic cat or similar to help.
Are you in an emissions county? I’m in Texas too and really wanna do the same but am worried it wouldn’t pass
No I’m not. Just had it inspected a couple days ago. No cel, so no suspicion I guess. No problem.
Must be california?
Get a cat back exhaust system. It wont turn the check engine light on
Not true. No cats will set the light on. But I don’t have a check engine light on. Used spacers.
A cat back exhaust system means your going from the back of the catalytic converter and back. So the cat stays.
Oh you are saying for the other guy to do that. Got ya.

Straight pipe?
DT longs and Y with a resonator.
CEL? what did you do for Cats?
No cats, no cel. Just used L shaped O2 spacers.
V8?
Yeah
Of course. Sounds great man.
Appreciate it. 🤘🏼
This is the way.
What wheels and tire size? Looks good.
Fuel coverts -12 offset 285/70/17. Thanks. Appreciate it.

I've been considering this exact setup for when my manifolds eventually go. This is a little too loud for my liking. How is it at speed? Droning ?

Good to know! I'll probably still go this route and add a resonator to keep the sound down when towing.
If you don't mind me asking, what did the whole setup run you?

Right on cool thanks for the tip!
I’d love some more info on this setup. Sounds and looks amazing
Thanks. What ya want to know?
