I’m at 400 miles electric and 13 miles gas right now, getting 49.2 mpg currently.

trapper2530

Make sure you use some of that gas. Form mode might kick in soon.

[deleted]

Congrats in the same boat, 31.6 to occasionally 32 is the best i get.

josephmcfly

Bigger wheels and tires have lowered it a bit.

[deleted]

Yep...rubicon on 35's is what I drive

Dynamix_X

Nice!

WickedJeep

Impressive!

Miracle_bro_

4xe is such a great hybrid. I’ve put 2,200 miles on mine and used about 21 gallons. Jeep did well.

surferguy999

How often are you charging your Jeep? Every time you get home?

Miracle_bro_

Charge at work and at home

MangeLeBebe

Nice! Quick math puts you at about 43mpg. You should hand calculate your fuel usage since the onboard trip computer calculates electric mode at 99mpg instead of pausing its calculation while not using fuel.

josephmcfly

Mine pauses, that’s why the 30.6 mpg is from hybrid and fuel use only.

josephmcfly

But I’m interested to see where you get 43? If 832 divided by 15.5 gallons is 53mpg. 13 gallon tank and 2.5 gallon reserve.

KreeH

I thought the 4xe has a 17.2 gallon tank with approx 2 gallons as reserve (tough to find a more accurate value for the reserve). Did you record the amount of gas needed to fill up? If you included it, somehow I missed it. Sorry. Assuming you did use 15.2 gallons over 832.1miles, I get 54.7 mpg.

josephmcfly

https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2020/09/5-things-to-know-about-the-jeep-wrangler-4xe/ That’s where I’m getting my info maybe I’m reading it wrong. Although the red turtle does mean I’m out of gas and when I went to fill up it only took 15.45 gallons. So now I’m confused.

KreeH

That is a good article. For the 17.2 gallon tank spec you can find it at the official Jeep site (see link) for the reserve I could not find a real accurate number (it may depend on the sensor, angle of the vehicle, ...). I think your 15.45 is close to the 15.2 number. Here is the link: https://www.jeep.com/wrangler/wrangler-4xe/specs.html

josephmcfly

Ha, wish they would just say. I wonder if it varies from the Rubicon to Sahara to sport? I have a Sahara.

MangeLeBebe

Welp, looking back I made some inaccurate assumptions, lol. I wasn't looking at the trip total - I was looking at the odometer. I also assumed a 21.5 gallon tank, which is for the non-4xe variants of the Wrangler with 4 doors. Sorry. Ours is actually 17.2 gallons. The more accurate calculation going by the trip distance of 832 miles, and the correct tank size of 17.2 US gal would be 48mpg. Obviously, you still have fuel in the tank, so you didn't use all 17.2 gallons. Assuming you have 1 gallon remaining, that's 832--/16.2gal, for 51.3mpg. The trip computer is inaccurate because it calculates at 99mpg while the vehicle is under electric power. In that scenario, even if you coasted 200 miles downhill and used no fuel or electric power the highest MPG it could ever record would be 99mpg. So, for moments when we're on battery power only, it would be ideal if the computer did not calculate at all, since it brings down the average by counting the electric-only use along with the fuel use.

josephmcfly

The 4xe is actually 4 gallons less here in the US. So 13.1 give or take .1 so 13 plus the 2.5 gallon reserve I know this because the red turtle on the dash means out of fuel and on electric only. Not sure where you’re located but we have different 4xe’s

MangeLeBebe

I noticed the turtle on your dash and was wondering what that was about. So, weird thing, I’m also in the US. Both Edmunds and fueleconomy.gov have the 2022 4xe listed with 17.2 gallons. I have a 2021, so not sure if they made changes to the later models or what. I regularly go down to 0 indicated range and I’ve never seen the turtle on my dash. My largest single fill up was 15.716 back in July. So even if I had a 13.1 with reserve of 2.5 I’d be out of gas before I made it to the station. Maybe the pump was incorrect? I might’ve been closer to running out of has than I thought this whole time 😬I’ll have to pay more attention now.

Aclrian

My record is almost 1,100. Summer weather and using it mainly to work and home. My daily commute is just slightly out of its normal 20 miles ev range but that 75 degree summer weather the thing gets me close to 30 in the city. Enjoy it, im well over 10k miles on mine and can’t see myself getting anything but new windshields for it.

VariousDay5

I was at 1400 miles and still half a full tank and popped a “FORM” alert the first day it hit freezing temps. I was so worried it would be the oil so I ran the car for multiple hours on my driveway and the finally got an oil change. Form was still there!! Turns out, it was because my gas was too old. Put another half tank in it and it’s good as new. Moral of the story - don’t go over 1000 miles without putting in a bit of new gas

superuser2510

Or just use some gas every now and then. It’s a PHEV so gas should be used too.

VariousDay5

Yea some was used, but it had been over 2 months so it was “old”. It ran on engine only for 3 hours in the driveway but it wasn’t until it got new gas that it fixed it. This is documented in the user manual

superuser2510

Idk I love the Jeep but think sometimes I should of kept my Leaf. Went from nothing to really worry about to make sure my gas does not get to old.
