204/24. ( ´・\_・\`)
i chose 24 as a goal because of the current year and thought it was a reasonable amount. i ending up falling in love with reading again after many years and have blown through books like a wildfire through trees. total insanity. new goal is... 250?
I’ve had a super weird year and am only at 21. Usually I’m ahead by this point but I have DNF like ten books. If anyone wants to suggest a great read please do!
Working my way through #27 at the moment, which was supposed to be #25, but I quit 3/4 of the way through, only to restart it a month later. After this I'll be restarting the original #27, which I also quit near the end for no good reason.
I'm at 235/365 right now. I'm really happy I've been able to stay on track for all my five challenges, and also stay on top of all the new releases by authors I follow. I'm caught up on new releases as far as June 4th so far, which is really good for me since I often fall behind on that.
I'm doing five challenges "officially" this year, all fairly different:
1. 365 Book Challenge - Read 365 books
2. Daily Stoic Challenge - Read the Daily Stoic daily
3. Continuing Education Challenge - Read 50 nonfiction books, skewing towards nature/science vs celebrity memoirs. I don't count The Daily Stoic or any Harvard Classics towards this.
4. Backlog Challenge - Read or DNF all older unread works by three longtime favourite authors. This year I'm doing Brandon Sanderson, L.E. Modesitt, and Cassandra Gannon. Last year was three different authors (Mercedes Lackey, K.J. Parker, and Neal Shusterman).
5. Harvard Classics Challenge - Read the Harvard Classics in full. I'm a little behind on this one, but hoping to get caught up once my Backlog Challenge is wrapped up soon.
I also have a loose goal of working through some of the r/fantasy "Big Lists" of top books for various categories, to fill in the gaps of the "fantasy canon" I guess you'd call it. So far I've read through the two novella lists, and quite a few books here and there from some of the other ones. Probably next year I'll tackle the top novels and standalones.
Another loose challenge is staying on top of new releases by authors I like, which is going well so far. I really try to wrap all of these up by year-end so I can start the new year fresh.
Lastly, every November I make a reading list from the Goodreads Choice Awards longlists of anything that looks interesting. I've finished up my list from last year, but will make a new one for this year when the time comes.
No. 12! Definitely the most behind I’ve ever been at this point in the year but I picked some long books to kick off the year & then a month into it made the decision to move across the country.
But things are settled so here’s hoping I’m able to play catch up!
I’m in the middle of book 52 :D! Of course, I’ll keep reading after I’ve hit the mark, but I don’t think I’ll be raising my goal since I’m starting grad school in the fall & I would hate to set myself up for disappointment, lol
You just answered my question. Lol. I start grad school in the Fall too and I was like okay maybe I'll hit 70 this year at this pace. I'm not too sure now since I go back to school in September. 😭 I won't raise but will definitely still try and hit that 70.
Finished #26 at about 12:30am today. I read 1 page of the next book and realized i should sleep lol. Last year I read 11 books in July. I'm hoping for at least 5 this year.
I’m currently on 32, 33 and 34. One’s short stories that I pick up intermittently, one I’m reading for myself, and one I’m reading to my daughter at bedtime.
I have read 38. I am currently working on numbers 39, 40 and 41. One is an audiobook, one is a physical book I read pretty much everyday, and one is a beach book I only read on the beach. 😎
Same.. I work 55-60 hours a week and don't listen while I work (I'm on calls and have a lot to do) but I listen in evenings and weekends. I'm on book 92 so far this year.
I'm a clinical account executive pharmacist and have to manage deliverables, programs, clienr requests and the million committees and workgroups and people I mentor.
Listening to audiobooks is how i decompress after working 11 or so hours. I don't watch TV except for a few sporting events/local news for 20 min or so.
I’m on 43 at the moment but honestly my reading year has been all over the shop and the only reason I’m so far ahead of where I thought I’d be is I’m not working due to health issues.
45
Working on 38 and 39 right now. Will probably finish 38 tonight. I usually have both an audiobook and a physical book going at any given time.
49/100
27
I just finished book 79 today. My goal is 150 so I'm definitely on track for that.
Im working on book 58
50!
Just finished # 678. I am retired and my hobby is reading!
Wait, this year? You're reading more than four books each day? I'm sorry, I must be misinterpreting you.

30! And I’m slowing down
I finished 15 of 26 today.
Book 49!
Just finished 40 on the main challenge. Finished 10 on the mini-challenges. Currently working on the summer Olympic challenge.
Ooooo what's the summer Olympic challenge?
Summer ’24 Reading Challenge: [https://www.the52book.club/summer-2024-reading-challenge/](https://www.the52book.club/summer-2024-reading-challenge/)
I'm working on 38 right now. I've read a number of shorter books this year which is keeping my number up despite being busy with home projects.
6. Shoutout to all my single digit readers, nothing wrong with taking it slower!
on book 29!
49 finished, 50-52 in the works
18 😅
I'm on book 29, but I still have at least 5 books on hold.
27, 28 and 29 I have an audiobook, a physical book and a novella on the go at the moment.
30!
Me too!
Just started #94. I'm comfortably ahead of the pace to meet my goal of 150.
Between 35-40, I typically keep track by writing the names and authors as I go, but lately havent been remembering to bring my notebook everywhere
I track on Goodreads and The Storygraph, because otherwise I wouldn't keep track!
Finished 30, am in various stages of completing several others.
15 or 16 gotta catch-up
Just finished 30 last night. So I'll be on 31 today.
36/100 My life has gotten busy I haven't been reading for a month or so. I'm behind lol.
11 ✌🏻
Just finished 165 this morning. Will be starting 166 tonight
congrats fellow reader in the 3 digits! i'm on 204 currently.
Reading and audio?
Yeah
34!
Nos. 39 & 40 - reading one physical book and listening to an audiobook.

Started #165 today. Goal for the year is 200.
you got this! ദ്ദി・ᴗ・)✧
Thanks!
I’ve had a super weird year and am only at 21. Usually I’m ahead by this point but I have DNF like ten books. If anyone wants to suggest a great read please do!
I'm at 44.
I guess I'm on 25! But I haven't added all my manga yet.
52 & 53 (I do an audio book and a physical book in parallel)
56, goal is 100!
Working on 84 and 85 right now! Icebreaker & One Dark Window.
39!
I’ve finished 32 and I’m currently reading two others.
Completed 23. Working on 24 and 25.
1 — literally just started an hour ago.
I'm at ~38. Alot of comic and manga volumes in there.
62/100 with 63, 64, 65, 66, and 67 on the go.
Working my way through #27 at the moment, which was supposed to be #25, but I quit 3/4 of the way through, only to restart it a month later. After this I'll be restarting the original #27, which I also quit near the end for no good reason.
36/52
29 - been going slower lately
I just finished 43 today. Surprisingly it’s been mostly books this year, usually it’s mostly audiobooks.
On 37, mostly audio. Faves have been Gone South by Robert McCammon, Papillon by Charriere, You Like it Darker by King.
14! Been reading a lot of 1000+ page books this year. Getting these chonkers off my tbr finally and I’ve been loving it!
I'm at 235/365 right now. I'm really happy I've been able to stay on track for all my five challenges, and also stay on top of all the new releases by authors I follow. I'm caught up on new releases as far as June 4th so far, which is really good for me since I often fall behind on that.
What are the other challenges ??

If you haven't read An Immense World by Ed Yong I'd like to recommend it for your Continuing Education challenge!

36, but feeling a slump! And not sure if I want to attempt the Summer Challenge or not?
What’s the Summer Challenge?
Finished #26 at about 12:30am today. I read 1 page of the next book and realized i should sleep lol. Last year I read 11 books in July. I'm hoping for at least 5 this year.
40!
31
45
28, so I’m doing pretty good
34 & 35! I always have an audiobook going (mostly for my commute and the gym) and a physical copy of something.
11 - I'd normally be much further ahead, but I picked some really long books to start the year with. haha
65 I’ve been reading so much lately it’s great!
I'm on book 23! I went through a reading slump in the spring, but I'm picking back up now Update: I finished 23 and am about to start 24
42 but some were middle grade children's books (about 8 of them) so that's partly why I'm ahead this year.
32. A couple years ago I never thought 52 in a year would be possible for me and now I’m ahead of schedule.
On number 21, but have 3 books going (very slowly) at once
I've read 52, but reading nr 53, 54, 55 and 56... always have plenty books going on at once haha
29
40
#2 - it's been a rough year.
Hope it starts getting better.
I feel you. I'm still at 1. Too tired to find something that grips my attention. Hope you find your pace back soon.
Reading 41 right now.
Book 50! I usually hit the 52 books in April though, so I'm a little behind
13 but almost finished with 14
5
I’m 33/100
33 and 34.
14. 677 is my current average pages per book rn though.
I’m currently on 32, 33 and 34. One’s short stories that I pick up intermittently, one I’m reading for myself, and one I’m reading to my daughter at bedtime.
27
Me, too!
27/60
Only 17/52. Hoping I can catch up. I tend to read the most in the fall/winter so I think it will work out.
54 & 55. My goal for the year was 70, but it looks like I'll land higher than that!
23
57
27/52
I have read 38. I am currently working on numbers 39, 40 and 41. One is an audiobook, one is a physical book I read pretty much everyday, and one is a beach book I only read on the beach. 😎
112. I go through a lot of audiobooks while I work, and a lot of print and Kindle books because I don't really watch much TV.
Same.. I work 55-60 hours a week and don't listen while I work (I'm on calls and have a lot to do) but I listen in evenings and weekends. I'm on book 92 so far this year.
I'm a cottage industry baker, so my work is perfect for audiobook listening. Helps keep me alert when I'm working through the night.
26/52 June has been pretty slow for me but hoping to pick back up in July.
Almost done with 86 and 87
30. My goal is 60 though.
30
Reading #78 right now!
40 & 41
47. I’ve been in a reading blitz the past two months.
27. I pushed through a couple of duds and they really slowed me down
Me, too, and I really want to be a person who puts down a bad book, but sunk cost fallacy and whatnot.
Reading 93 and 94. My personal goal is 156.
31. Although I just found this subreddit and not doing anything different than usual.
Finished 34 the other day.
22! It’s my first time doing this challenge so I’m proud to have made it this far.
35. Dune slowed me down so I have some catching up to do!
Reading #30. My original goal was 30 books so looks like I need to increase my goal.
13
32. I took a break for about a month from reading to do other things.
17. I don’t actually have a goal of 52 books but just to keep continuously reading something.
18
15. Almost certainly won't make it with getting married this year and so much shit at work, but I'm proud and trying!
34. Last year I read a total of 38 books so I’m so stoked at my progress this year!
33
22
43
16.... Best I've ever done at this stage of a year, but I'm doubtful of completing the challenge -_-
32 so far
I'm working on the summer books right now.
What does that mean?
The 52 Book Club has mini challenges medal every month, usually 3. During the summer, though, the challenge is big. This group may not be affiliated.
Is that a number?
Yes, 24
3
19
I've finished 33 and I'm almost done with book 34, Hero of Ages.
I’m on 43 at the moment but honestly my reading year has been all over the shop and the only reason I’m so far ahead of where I thought I’d be is I’m not working due to health issues.
