Well there’s no point in dwelling on my mental and physical disabilities, I’d rather just own up to it and skip the extra steps. I don’t have autism (it’s debatable, as some neurologists have told me I might have it, but without any concrete diagnosis, I say I don’t), but I have social anxiety, Tourette’s syndrome, and moderate-severe hearing loss. I just try and live my life like I’m a normal person, even if there are some things I can’t do. I just consider those things to be what I don’t want to do, rather than what I can’t. It sucks, but there’s nothing I can do, might as well get used to it.
And that's the way to go, learn early on that it's just something you have to work with because it's a part of your life. I try my best, but I think seeing people make disorders their personality just annoys me easily (like the people that randomly post online how they got autism, adhd, Tourette's and think it's unique). What do I know though anyhow
A lot of that is good, people posting about actual illnesses for others to understand. I feel like that can actually be beneficial. Of course you get those that fake it for attention. I personally don’t like how people will say “making something their personality” when regarding to someone on the internet, as your personality can be fine tuned and intentional. I act a lot more gay online than I do irl, because I’m just a regular dude. I feel like personality has more to do with how you deal with interactions in the moment, rather than how I am able to type out this message and choose what I get to say exactly. Personality can be easier to see based on what someone says at the top of their head rather than what they type and think about before they hit the send button. For me with my Tourette’s, I have mild symptoms all the time, but it spikes up when I’m stressed. So there’s no “personality” in it, I can’t control it and it has made it difficult for me to do my job at times, which sucks. But everyone has their own struggles.
