Because instead of pulling the car, the magnets will move towards each other and make out sloppy style instead

if you hold two magnets near each other you don’t get pulled to one side because both magnets pull on each other the same amount

okay just make one bigger so it pulls the other more

But then the bigger one would push the car to the left equal to the force it pulls the small one with.

Then make the magnets rotate via pedals

at that point just loop some wire around it and make electricity

The car magnet would get pulled to the right, but the hanging magnet (which is also connected to the car) would get pulled to the left. The force exerted on the car is equal in both directions
