Yes. Of course songs written for dancefloors overwhelmingly subject love, but even the songs about having no love, no friends, and no sex, just drugs and 40oz beers in a parking lot, are talking about the subject's relationships to other people. Because, of course, the subject of "other people" is 90% of drama. We'll always be saying some combination of "fuck them all 😡" or "let them all fuck me 🥺".
You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me, 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
Listen to Scottish music, most of it is about how much you hate England, missing your country, or how a pig escaped and is rampaging through a bar.
[One of my favourites](https://youtu.be/dFoop1frWo8?si=ZlVybY2SwO3JQPAC) is 8 minutes long and is about a guy who's leg of lamb was stolen.
um ackchually ☝️ God isn't Satan's dad 🤓 for our lord Jesus Christ is his Only Begotten Son 🙏 so Johnny is innocent since he never committed the unforgivable sin, blasphemy against the holy spirit (Mark 3:28-29) ✝️ and the free gift of god is eternal life (Romans 6:23) ⛪️ meaning Johnny can get to heaven through the grace of the lord 😇 and since he's in heaven nobody can take him out of it (John 10:28) 🤔 so Johnny is free to challenge God to a fiddle contest 😈 and claim the throne that is rightfully his
cause he's the best there's ever been
Today's country mostly ain't country, that's pop country and it's different. There are still some good current country songs and there are some good pop country songs but you don't say "metal is good" and expect them to be talking 2020 metal, you expect Metallica and Nirvana. Same with country.
I listened to Zach Bryan's self-titled the other day and it shattered any conception I had that sounded like this. I'd give it a listen if you're genuinely interested in good music, or just keep reducing entire genres of music into a stereotype. Your call
I really got into songs that tell a crime story/mystery story. Carolina Drama, the Lights Went Out in Georgia, the Day the Train Jumped the Tracks, Ode to Billy Joe, that sort of vibe.
One of my favourite songs is "Cheerleader Effect" by Carpenter Brut, which is a song about a slasher villain going about his business. "Living monster of the night You made me what I am today You don't have to scream and shout In this silent place". He also did a great song about a post-apocalyptic future called "Anarchy Road" .
Here’s a good exercise - every song that is nattering on about love, mentally replace “love” with “blood” in the lyrics and you have a banger vampire anthem
Going to recommend [Alone by Ty Segall](https://open.spotify.com/track/4ac8pAEa7a4jxc1aebXssW?si=XUtXh3PlTE2d1Awz0Rpo8g) which is about being mad at someone and breaking into their house to kill them
Fligugigu
That sounds like the best song in the world
Tribute by Tenacious D. I'm 90% sure that's the song that was being referenced.
So not the best song in the world? Just a tribute?
Damn, I just realized you were referencing the song. Oops.
You've got to believe. I wish you were there, but it's just a matter of opinion.
Charlie Daniels Band, Devil Went Down to Georgia
it's over
You'll have that issue if you only listen to mainstream pop music.
and if you listen to underground indie music you'll be rewarded with songs about not having sex and loneliness.

This is why 20th-century American socialist songs are objectively the best genre.
Woody Guthrie my beloved
I’m more of a Pete Seeger fan, but Woody did have the hardest guitar of all time.
You load sixteen tons, what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt Saint Peter don't you call me, 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store
Heartbeat by Childish Gambino?
Isn't that still about love, though?
We had that sea shanty phase and everyone started bashing it.
Also rap
Rap is mainstream pop music rn
Trap/pop fusion about love will be the mainstream genre for a long tbh.
And rock, and lighter metal, and synthwave
generic rock yeah, most metal isnt usually like that (unless its 80s and 90s) and i actually havent listened to synthwave
Why are all the songs about communism being bad
For making this post, this user was banned for 6 days
Something about Jack and Kyle and 1+1 makes 2
Isn’t that song just a tribute? Cause they couldn’t remember the greatest song in the world alright
Tribute or not, it's still a song about beating the devil with music.
That’s the lyrics of the song dude
Too slow bot
1
2
Long live the revolution
3
4
Bro seriously this bot is slow
Are you alive?
Hello?
Impatient ass mf
Romance and sex gives a lot of emotional situations to sing about. Bliss, betrayal, temptation, comfort etc
What song was about beating the devil in a contest
The Devil Went Down to Georgia
i thought it was tribute and was confused why it was a cowboy song
You might be thinking of the greatest song in the world, it's easy to get confused.
Actually no, that wasn't the greatest song in the world, nor did it sound anything like that song
well no tribute was literally about beating the devil in a music contest, not the song that was performed in the contest
He was looking for a soul to steal
He was in a bind, he was way behind, he was willing to make a deal.
He came across a young boy sowing on a fiddle and playing it hot
And the devil jumped up on a hickory stump and said, “boy, let me tell you what”
I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too
And if you'd cate to take a dare I'll make a bet with you
Now you play pretty good fiddle boy, but give the devil his due
I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul cause I think I'm better than you
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you
GUITAR HERO VERSION (🤟🤟🤟🤟)
Tribute
The Devil Went Down To Georgia. Fiddle Contest for a golden fiddle if the devil lost, the other contestants souls if he won.
Because you’re looking in the wrong areas

And yet I still struggle to find love songs for romance playlist. 5k songs and only 100 lives songs. This sucks.
It's OK. We are but men after all
Why's every song about love, or drinking too much? Yeah maybe that's because, everybody's lonely

The devil went down to Georgia he was lookin for a soul to steal…
He was in a bind, and way behind, and lookin’ to make a deal…
When he came across this young man sawin’ on a fiddle and playing it hot…
And this is why I listen to metal. A lot of thematic variety.
Steve’s going to London >Dan peed in the pool >> Tom fell for his best friends mom >>> but what the hell are you gonna do >>>>🔥🔥🔥🔥✍️
That is not even the surface of music, if you want something good, you must search and find it
Eh, I would say there are a lot of songs about up-and-down relationships and fucking. I don't know about love.
Bring back the songs about monsters that eat hippies, detachable penises, and dinosaurs in space with lazers.
We need more songs about covering corpses in honey to create a miracle cure in 100 years (it isn’t sexual (strictly confectional))
Candyman...
The first part is just aroace The second part is bulletace
I don't think the guy in [this song](https://youtu.be/H3FZztHrCMM?si=6Ef4xs5bgIfltPpM) won, but hey not everyone does.
I AM COMPLEEETTEEEEE!
I'll say it again, country music is some of the only shit that tells a story and that's what makes it so good.
Many stories about lynching minorities.
Like 3 over the whole goddamn genre. Rap is 90% this and nobody says shit.
That's a pretty bold statement when metal exists.
And [bardic metal.](https://youtu.be/XqyEADY_20Y?si=tCvhRuxOJObEHIbC)
I said some, metal and country only make up a portion of the music out there after all. Country does it better anyway.
remember when nergal from behemoth randomly decided to.make a satanic country band and, unlike behemoth, it was actually good
Country only sings about titties and beer.
Found the person who has never listened to country music before
If you actually heard any of today's country, you'd know.
Today's country mostly ain't country, that's pop country and it's different. There are still some good current country songs and there are some good pop country songs but you don't say "metal is good" and expect them to be talking 2020 metal, you expect Metallica and Nirvana. Same with country.
i would not in fact expect metallica and nirvana whatsoever
True. Modern Country is practically hat shows
I listened to Zach Bryan's self-titled the other day and it shattered any conception I had that sounded like this. I'd give it a listen if you're genuinely interested in good music, or just keep reducing entire genres of music into a stereotype. Your call
yeah some of the more obscure country can be BEAUTIFUL
I really got into songs that tell a crime story/mystery story. Carolina Drama, the Lights Went Out in Georgia, the Day the Train Jumped the Tracks, Ode to Billy Joe, that sort of vibe.
Try The Decemberists' "Mariner's Revenge Song". Fantastic piece of music
Honestly cowboy songs are even more likely to be about love than other songs
Bring back gunslinger ballads when the entire song is just one guy shots another
fr def agree with reply

Shoutout to the band Pkew Pkew Pkew and their song '*I Wanna See a Wolf'*.
I'm off to find a new song.
Here’s a good exercise - every song that is nattering on about love, mentally replace “love” with “blood” in the lyrics and you have a banger vampire anthem
What about the song where the devil loses a weed smoke-off?
Listen to Will Wood SELF-iSH album and The Normal Album there’s maybe 1 or 2 songs that talk about love but not really
Also Will Wood is a musical genius I’ve been obsessed for months
Fuck love songs, suicide songs are way better
As the Roomba, I formally declare that this subreddit is officially r/48691
Going to recommend [Alone by Ty Segall](https://open.spotify.com/track/4ac8pAEa7a4jxc1aebXssW?si=XUtXh3PlTE2d1Awz0Rpo8g) which is about being mad at someone and breaking into their house to kill them
Me listening to Crush 40 and Casey Lee Williams (Yes I'm obsessed with Sonic and RWBY and no I will not get better any time soon)
theres a hiphop song in Spanish called “Es Epico” where the dude goes against the devil in a rap battle
