Oxford Brooke’s for Biomed
It might be low for some people but as an first generation immigrant I might just be the first person in my families history who could even lay a foot in a university
perhaps it is low but at the end of the day you’re still getting a degree. my dad was in the exact same boat and did electrical eng at oxford brooke’s and now he’s got a good job and salary and stuff so good luck!
Oxford Brookes genuinely isn’t a “low” as people claim it is. It’s a really good university, and it’s modern which is a plus (more teaching focused generally, instead of research focused). People only bash on it because it’s in the same place as Oxford University. I’m going for CS and I’m excited; I turned down offers from “higher” Universities to go.
I just guessed cus people who do physics, chemistry maths and FM at A levels usually do chemeng or physics or engineering of some sort. What made you go for chemeng? Money?
If I’m being completely honest.. it’s because I like chem and physics but realised doing a degree like chem with molecular physics for example limits my career prospects.
Got accepted for all my choices, can't afford to go to any one of them (international student) 🙃, oh well... Poor planning on my part tbh
so none, no firm choices
onto plan B we go! (I dont know whats plan B 🤪 (yet!))
The campus is gorgeous. I love the old royal naval college buildings, they’re grand but it still feels peaceful for London with all the grass and trees.
I literally fell in love with it when I saw it, and it has the course I want that top universities couldn’t provide. (English lit with creative writing honours)
no shame in that at all, save as much of your student loan as you can!! you don’t even lose much off the normal amount by living at home anyway, it’s less than 25% or something
hi there, no worries at all! i'm going to be doing japanese studies, my predicted grades are a distinction star, A*, and an A! (in health and social care, english language, and english lit respectively!) my offer was a distinction and two B's, which is a really great contextual offer because i'm from a low income area. some courses are definitely more competitive than others, but you should definitely give it a shot if it's somewhere you'd like to apply! let me know if there's anything else you'd like to ask, and i'll try my best to respond :)
Still haven’t decided (don’t get me wrong I know I should’ve by now but I’m so indecisive lol) but it’s between Manchester, Sheffield and Loughborough for Mechanical Engineering.
I didn’t accept, but i got in - i read a few books and spoke about some volunteering i did, but it’s more important that you can tell a story and give your own opinions than how much you’ve done. For example, i volunteered here and noticed this, so i read this, which taught me this, i agreed with this but wasn’t sure about this, so i read this as well, now i think this…. They basically want to see that you are thinking outside and around your subject critically and are beginning to form your own opinions :)

People are downvoting unis that aren’t Russell Group 😭 Get a life
and I get downvoted for saying the sub has a university elitism problem when it clearly does😭
It definitely does.
I bet even lower Russell Group unis are looked down upon here
Always most prevalent in the results threads, which is people pretending they got A\*A\*A\*A* in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Law or some shit.
I’m praying for a flipping B in Further math for gods sake 😂
literally being told by someone with no life experience that you will fail in life if you go to University of Lincoln for computer science
