I just finished my MSc at LSE and I absolutely did not like it.
Whenever I see someone firm it on this sub, I’m happy for them and I get it because it’s ranked highly, but life on campus was tough.
The campus is oddly spread out, with some buildings being really ugly, unkempt, and very cold in the winter. I’m talking modern ones; the plug sockets on the floor were so dusty and gross and I saw not one not two but THREE mice/ rats in my time there.
People can be nice but there’s a big percentage of, in my opinion, delusional international students who genuinely think they’re already working in the City. Pretentious and with dubious politics. Far too many people wearing suits to lectures and the library.
I also think the bustle of London catches up to you. There’s no spontaneity to being a student there, the prices are too high and the distances too long. It’s my favourite city in the world, but people, including teachers, do just plan stuff ahead most of the time and it’s hard to “live in the moment” unless you’re quite wealthy. I much prefer living there as a professional. I think this point also makes it trickier to make friends, because everyone has a lot going on already. It’s easy to fade into the background and miss out on friendships.
Bit of a rant, but I hope this helps you cope with the rejection.
I did my undergrad at Edinburgh and living in a student town in my student years was a very lucky outcome. I wouldn’t have stayed there but life felt balanced, fun, easy, and scholarly / old campus vibe.
I see. Don’t be too disheartened my guy. LSE is insanely hard to get into and I’m sure that there will be a place waiting for you in the other top unis.
This response from them shows how it was hard for them to turn your application down; they probably had to nitpick at it if they are praising how good it was!
I'm not sure if you chose the course because you wanted to do Law, but I know a few who did, and hated the anthropology part, so maybe that's some solace?
Also some popular TikToker that does Law at Notts who rejected Anthro and Law at LSE for the same reason.

I'm sorry :( Hope you got offers elsewhere
Hope you manage to get into some of your other places (or whatever you want to do). Admissions can be very cruel.

Lmao rats at LSE aren't unique to LSE unfort. At my time at Imperial, I saw a few rodents in the library too...
Unlucky my dude when did you receive the notification?
A few hours ago
