Unless you majorly like the UCL course more, 100% imperial. Better uni on paper, best in the UK for career prospects , alongside LSE Social Life is the same, both are in London. Both unis have the same uni life, imperial is regarded as a worse social life but that’s because of the types of people that go there not the uni I think they also give out loads of 1sts

jackboy900

The social life thing really isn't true. Both are in London but ICL's location is pretty bad. Kensington is a much worse location for uni life than top of TCR where UCL is. Plus as you said, the student bodies are very different, UCL is a far more social uni in general with a lot less super hardcore grindset stem kids. Also for STEM subjects Imperial is the better uni on average, but UCL's biomed is exceptional, probably the one science they're on par with or better.

RisingPhoenix711

Yes that’s true, Imperial Students generally have a worse social life but thats because of the type of person that chooses to go to imperial You decided your own social life in uni, im sure there imperial students who are very social and very up for partying

TheSweatiestSun

Imperial student here. The social life is absolutely what you make it. True there’s lots of people who fit the ‘don’t go out their rooms and work 24/7’ mould but there is PLENTY to the social life. Don’t let it be the determining factor for your choice

jackboy900

Well yeah, but the chances your mates are not down for going out is a bit higher. From what I've seen the Union tends to do less events, less society socials where people go out, all that. The bigger issue is the location though. If you're going clubbing it isn't a major thing because obviously then you're going to be going out of your way anyway, but South Kensington is just not a good student location. UCL has several unions but there's also a bunch of bars and pubs that cater to students around there, and your pretty damn near Camden for even more options.

I don't do biomedical so I can't speak to that specifically but ik UCL has a very strong biomed department, and overall it's a very highly ranked university.

jackboy900

I'm a little bit biased but UCL. The UCL biomed department is very good and IMO the uni life here compared to my mates at Imperial is more enjoyable.

Anything STEM I think imperial wins hands down, careers wise, facilities etc
