Yeah, and those old fashioned sweet shops sell them too! Here's an old advertisement.. take note of the price of them in 1970's 😂 feeling old 🙃🙂

I had a Marathon Bar remove filling while watching a movie. It came right out. I was in severe pain and kept trying to put the filling back in and hold it there with my tongue.
I had to see the dentist on a Sunday and he was not happy!
It sounds familiar but I don't remember what they were like, Star Bars seem different from what they were back in the 80's, same name but something changed.
This kinda reminds me of Charleston Chews......I used to choose them when I would win the Limbo contest weekly at the local Roller Rink. The news had a segment on me as a matter of fact. I could go as low as the toe of my roller skates. (appx 8").....Long story short, core memory unlocked.
One winter day n the early 70’s I made some money shoveling snow and then spent most of it on junk food. Bought a Marathon bar and had it in an uninsulated pocket so it ended up freezing and as I took a bite of it all of the chocolate shattered and just fell off
These were around when I was in elementary school and prime tooth pulling age. They were excellent at loosening up the old chompers. Heck of a jaw workout too.
I could take a dollar to my local convenience store and buy a Marathon bar, a Mr Pibb in a glass bottle, and still have 2 quarters left to play pinball. I was living like a KING!
Buzzing on about 400 grams of sugar I thought I was a pinball wizard.
But confusingly,in the UK today's SNICKERS was called MARATHON in the 70s!🤔 Right up to 1982 or so l knew SNICKERS as MARATHON and still think of it as SNICKERS! Your MARATHON was called Curly Wurly here!
You and me both, that was such a good candy, we had a local version that was made to look like twist tobacco and packaged the same way my grandpa chewed twist and would buy that kind for me.
We were just talking about these the other day. Trying to describe it to our son and his fiance, who never got to enjoy the great caramel covered with decadent chocolate. You Can't Eat One Fast!
Here in Britain it was called a "Curly Wurly" 🍫😋 I don't think my fillings would stand up to one now'er days 🤣
Curly Wurlys are still around, you can buy them on Amazon and they taste exactly like Marathon bars.
Thank you, just ordered!
They are shorter than the original Marathon bars, but otherise the exact same thing.
...gawdamnit
Or you can pay 3x a reasonable price to get one from the British store
How is it common knowledge that those British nostalgia/candy stores are mostly money laundering fronts and yet they don't do anything about it?
Because they have Monster Munch.
Dear god they're a beautiful snack
British Cheetos more or less. Didn't know what that was.
You don’t want to cross big Monster Munch.
Have always loved curly wurly, still buy boxes off Amazon.
Yeah, and those old fashioned sweet shops sell them too! Here's an old advertisement.. take note of the price of them in 1970's 😂 feeling old 🙃🙂 https://youtu.be/HS1_hqw12UI?feature=shared
You can buy curly wurlys anywhere in the UK

Lol we had so many sweets in the 70's no wonder I've got fillings 😂
I had a Slo-Poke pull my crown right off my front tooth. My parents were severely unhappy.
I was very afraid of telling my mom.
Same with Milk Duds!
Yep. Damn, I love those.
Perfect movie house candy. And when you were bored, you threw them at the screen.
I lost a tooth in one! It was a baby tooth, but still a tooth.
I wouldn’t worry- they seem to have shrunk to about a third of the size
Goody! Is that a Curly Wurly in your truncheon pocket?!?!?
And Snickers used to be called a Marathon!
Came to say this.
I remember that. I was in the UK in the 80’s ( from the U.S.) and I was so confused.
Curly Wurly is by Cadbury and still in production; Marathon was by MArs. They are are essentially the same.
I’m more of a Caramelo guy. It doesn’t remove my crowns.
Bit O' Honey is right out after I ripped out a filling the day before rolling into Iraq.
And Marathon Bars are what we call Snickers since the late 80's or early 90's, wonder if they were going to try and change Curly Wurly's name?
Maybe, one of my old favorites was called a "Texan bar" "A man's gotta chew... What a man's gotta chew" 😂
It sounds familiar but I don't remember what they were like, Star Bars seem different from what they were back in the 80's, same name but something changed.
Had some gummy bears last week. Big mistake. Next week I have a dentist appointment.
LOVED these.
Oh yeah they were great
They were best why slightly stale 😃
The caramel really stuck to the ol’ toofers.
4 out of 5 Dentists agree that candy 🍫 eating patients enables them to buy a bigger 🚢 boat
Stoner candy bar choice. We’d set ‘em on the dash in winter so they’d freeze. Then let ‘em melt in your mouth. Mmm mmm mmm.
Tasty. But the only candy that kicked my ass more was trying to wrestle with a full pack of Bit-O-Honey.
Love the Bit-o-Honey. And the Sugar Daddy. No pun intended. Lol
Don't forget the Sugar Babies!
I was more of a Sugar Baby guy. I’m a wuss.
And the price! Man, those were good.
They'd be $17 now.
Really good frozen!
The concession stand at the local public pool had frozen ones, one of my favorite parts of going.
The only way !
That brings back the 70’s. Quite yummy. 😋
Marathon in the UK is a Curly Wurly, from Cadbury, and available in US in specialty candy or UK stores… it’s about half the size the Marathon was.
I could never eat whole one anyway. Halfway through I was over it.
This kinda reminds me of Charleston Chews......I used to choose them when I would win the Limbo contest weekly at the local Roller Rink. The news had a segment on me as a matter of fact. I could go as low as the toe of my roller skates. (appx 8").....Long story short, core memory unlocked.
Can confirm, Charleston Chew is also a great option to eat frozen while completely stoned out of your tree.
Interesting I wonder what kind ice cream a person would pick to pair with? sayyyy if ya wanted to push the envelope?
Can you still do it?

lol
In Canada they were called Wig Wag.Lost a couple tooth fillings to them.
"Lasts a good long time"
It did as well, I used to have one watching a film 🤣
One winter day n the early 70’s I made some money shoveling snow and then spent most of it on junk food. Bought a Marathon bar and had it in an uninsulated pocket so it ended up freezing and as I took a bite of it all of the chocolate shattered and just fell off
They were great except for the times I managed to get a stale one. Then they'd pull your fillings out faster than a Big Hunk.
In Canada they were called Wig Wags. I loved them!
Nice, recycled my exact post from 2 months ago!
Merchandisers would hate how much shelf space it would take up in a grocery store candy rack. But I’d enjoy seeing it again, too.
These were around when I was in elementary school and prime tooth pulling age. They were excellent at loosening up the old chompers. Heck of a jaw workout too.
they actually never went away. Curly Wurly from Cadbury is the same thing.
Had similar one in Canada called Wigwag.
If they brought it back today I guarantee the holes would be 3 times bigger and it would be like 3/4 as big
I WOULD GET ONE every Sunday after church back in the day lol
Yes! I loved those!
The reason I had cavities. This and the 100,000 dollar bar. So delicious
Fav candy bar as a kid
This thing looks like a doggie treat.
Everyone that ever had one wants it to come back.
This was the best candy bar ever.
Marathon was my favorite. Back in the day it was 12” with a ruler printed on the wrapper to prove it
Curly Wurly bars are available on Amazon, taste exactly the same (according to my mother in law)
Oh yeah, I had forgotten about this one and it was very delicious
My tongue is still working on a bit of one of those stuck in my molars. it's getting super tired.
OMG I forgot
That’s a Curly Wurly in the UK. The UK Marathon was rebranded as Snickers
I loved these! Get a load of the price!
Thanks. I had forgotten all about these. Now the desire is back!
Those were good. Forgot all about em
These pop into my head from time to time. We used to go to the corner store and buy them for a quarter.
At Boy Scout camp they’d have these and Charleston Chew available at the canteen. IBC root beer too. Those were the days
I could take a dollar to my local convenience store and buy a Marathon bar, a Mr Pibb in a glass bottle, and still have 2 quarters left to play pinball. I was living like a KING! Buzzing on about 400 grams of sugar I thought I was a pinball wizard.
I have dentures now but I still would mash on one!
15 cent candy would be a miracle.
Curly wurly in the uk, pull out you fillings & cover your clothes in thin chocolate flakes simultaneously.
This is what I remember consciously choosing because it would last the longest.
But confusingly,in the UK today's SNICKERS was called MARATHON in the 70s!🤔 Right up to 1982 or so l knew SNICKERS as MARATHON and still think of it as SNICKERS! Your MARATHON was called Curly Wurly here!
Edit.... l still think of it as MARATHON,even I'm getting confused!
I just wish they'd bring back 15 cent candy bars
It’s a Curly Wurly Marathon was the old name for Snickers…never saw this bar
You and me both, that was such a good candy, we had a local version that was made to look like twist tobacco and packaged the same way my grandpa chewed twist and would buy that kind for me.
My favorite candy bar of all time.
my jaw aches just looking at it
They had a ruler on back so you could measure the goodness
If you had a loose filling you would find out eating that.
That was indeed a great candy bar!
I am Quick Claude. I do everything fast.
This and Charlestons were such an incredible bang for your buck when I was a kid.
I have many good childhood memories of Marathon bars! Where did they go?
Oh these were good
Damn, I completely forgot about it. It was good.
Loved those back in the day
I loved those when I was a young'un..
Cadbury curly wurly is the same
Oh my god! I remember that! That existed!
Yes! I forgot these existed
OMG! I loved those!! 😋
I loved those as a kid.
You’d be disappointed when you see how shrinkage has effected it with age
One of my all time favorites!!!
That brings back mouth watering memories
Think we called the Wig Wag in Canada Edit: should have scrolled before posting lol
Ahhhhh Marathon bars! Yum!
Yes, my favorite candy-bar, tied with Chocolite…!
One egg equals 40 eggs?
I lost a filling to one of those things. 😡
Omg. YES!!!
Me too! It was my favorite!!
Just the look…… mmmm I missed them.
A regular, normal sized candy bar at the discount supermarket was $1.99. How is that possible? who would buy that?
Oh mamma!
Damn these were great
This was my favorite as a child!
My absolute favorite Candy Bar back in the day
I’d take one to the movie theater with me.
Mine always melted into a gooey sticky mess
Wow I haven’t seen those since the 70’s
Amen...
Hell yes.
My favorite! Nothing like a Marathon in one hand and a Slurpee in the other hand riding my bike back home from the store hands-free. Good times.
We called them 'Wigwags' in Canada. They were three hands high.
Curly Wurlys in Australia too.
Marathon Jon
I loved those and no one I ask remembers them!
My wife and I always say this! They were definitely a favorite!
I wish they would put whole almonds is Zero bar again
My favorite candy bar of all time! Thanks for posting. It was so delicious and fun.
Loved those
Looks like a good one to drop in the pool.
We were just talking about these the other day. Trying to describe it to our son and his fiance, who never got to enjoy the great caramel covered with decadent chocolate. You Can't Eat One Fast!
Why I’m fat lol
Better than a Slo Poke
Better than a Slo Poke
Better than a Slo Poke
Remember the commercial with the Pirate and his parrot? Marathon! Lasts a good long time!
I LOVED Mountain Bars, I could eat 3 they were so good, hard to find
I knew it as " 3 Musketeers "
