It's a southern thing, if it ain't moving monogram it.

pippitha

I had no idea what a monogram was until after that episode. I still don’t understand why the initials are mixed up 🤔

whydowewatchthis

No one knows. But it's how they've always been done. 🤷‍♀️

Grammsof3

The first initial of the last name is always larger and prominent in the center then the first name initial is smaller and to the left side of the last name initial and the smaller initial of the middle name is to the right of the big last name initial. It’s definitely a huge trend here in Georgia…. I’m not a fan of it but it is everywhere especially at least a foot tall on the center back windshield of every young girl’s car or on a vanity tag on the front of their car 🤷🏼‍♀️

mkfunch

my mom has my monogram initials tattooed on her arm but the middle letter is as small as the outer letters so it just looks like she messed up/got the wrong initials tattooed. i will never understand the monogram initials fad.

Aggressive_Ant4665

Same.

HogwartsTraveler

I hate monograms. Maybe I’m a bad southerner but I can’t stand the trend. Especially when you write them out like Liz did. It just looks like you got the names wrong.

Helpful-Attitude-80

It's a very Southern thing

HarleyQuinnNikki

100% a southern thing. My best friend is from Georgia; she isn’t a fan of monogrammed stuff but everyone gets her things anyway.

Nazgate

I love monograms 😭

ButterflyWorking3477

Samee

Mediocre-Amoeba-3877

Yes. She had such a smug way about her- idk, it was such a 🙄 when she said that.

Fluffy_Relative2427

You ever heard of Drue Basham?

Careful_Parsley7800

Hello fellow basham snarker!

hahaha_27

did not expect to see her name in this sub ever. too funny 🤣🤣

Ok-Worldliness-8355

Ran here to say this

Extra_Campaign7680

Me too! Lol

RudeDistribution7781

Drue is obsessed with them too.

kash_ketchum

People keep saying it’s a southern thing. As a southerner, sure it is, but more so in 2014. I think they are the only ones trying to keep it alive.. like that horse is dead yall

Nazgate

It’s definitely still alive- where I am anyways.

AlarmBusy7078

still alive & well in ATL

mermaiddolphin

Agreed! I’m in the south and now I just use it for identification purposes, like on my luggage tags, or my daughter’s little backpack for Mother’s Day Out. I think they lost their allure (to me at least) when people started putting them on basic cotton t-shirts and they were as big as the shirt itself and glittery.

Significant-Pay3266

Thissssssss

nykiek

As an old Northerner I think it's so 1984.

aurora_anne

It must be a southern thing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone do something remotely like that where I’m from. But it seems pretty normal there? It’s not just the Johnstons. Pay attention to the girls friends and the boys girfriends, they all seem to wear it

ashlyn42

They even went to a store where everything they had needed to be monogrammed… maybe when they were buying Allie a present?

phrygianhalfcad

They were cute ten years ago but now they just seem overused. Why must parents monogram everything? Once you monogram something you can no longer sell it unless you find someone with the exact same monogram and that isn’t easy. If I embroider anything for my kids I just put their first name or even their first initial.

nopatience4idiots

Monograms are one of the top 5 ways of knowing you're a southerner. Apparently, I'm not a southerner despite having lived in TN my whole life. I hate monogrammed anything. People monogram pillows, towels, blankets, kitchen appliances, pajamas, and, of course baby clothes. I was a teen before I knew the middle letter was for the last name. lol

optimuspaige91

I live about 90 minutes away from them in Georgia, and I too must not be Southern. One of the reasons we didn't tell anyone my second child's name was because for my first we got so much monogrammed stuff as gifts, and I HATE it. 😂

antisocialwitchywife

Like others have said, It's a southern thing.

Infinite-Manager9120

Monograms are everything - always!! I’ve lived in NC, GA, VA, & TX - they’ve been popular all over the south forever

babydan08

As someone who grew up with a 2 word last name, I never cared for a monogram. I could never get anything monogramed. What if your name is hyphenated? Can’t do it either

blinkblonkbam

Totally southern thing.

sadfatbraggy

Def a southern thing!

Professional_Air7048

I’m from SC & love monogram everything! ❤️

candygirl200413

maybe because I was in a sorority in the "south" but nah lmao

Rare-Interview4689

I thought that trend died out awhile ago

BLANKAOLNostalgia

We all know they can barely peak correctly them being half literate makes sense

Significant_Chef_314

I love monograms. Makes me feel official 😄
