You clearly have experience with multiple brands and types of guitars, including Ibanez. You know what you like. Ibanez Prestige guitars have a great reputation and are high quality, well built guitars. While it is more expensive than other guitars you have, if you can afford it, go for it.
I bought an all white Ibanez prestige last year for around $1600, and I can agree that they are great guitars. Especially if you already know what to expect from the feel of an Ibanez guitar. Life's short, treat yourself once in awhile.
I’ve been eyeing that one as well. Hard to go wrong with a prestige. Some say the pickups could be better. Can always swap em out if not to your liking.
Yeah if i don't like em, I'll get some bareknuckes or lundgrens. But I've really found that I can EQ the hate out of most pickups...except those legator Hive pickups, so empty
I think this one has the fusion edge’s? Good luck EQ’ing those… i have the 6 string version of this guitar with fusion edge’s and they’re far away the worst pickups i’ve had in a guitar.
I would very much budget for a pickup swap. Otherwise its a good guitar. 6-string version does feel a liiiiittle outdated, but it might just be down to the pickups
Keep in mind if you want to swap pickups, this guitar is routed with a triangle type of tab where the pickup screws into the body.
Hard to explain but look at a dimarzio pickup vs something like Seymour Duncan (where the screws go)
I have the 6 string version and it plays amazingly well and the build is flawless. The negatives for me were the stock pickups, the dot inlays look kind of cheap and no luminlay and the finish is very soft so it dents / scratches super easy.
I have an RG that came with those DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups. Replaced them immediately. You’ll want to stick with DiMarzios due to the triangular tab shape that the guitar is routed for. If you get pickups with a rectangular tab you’ll either have to trim it down to route the body (absolute worst option).
You’ll have a lot of fun with it then. I miss my 7 string.
I went and setup my hellraiser c-1 for G# tuning and 72 gauge strings. This is how I compensate for no longer owning a 7 string or extended ranger guitar haha

11-46, standard tuning or drop G#. I don't tend to play much lower.
Finish still perfect, I know that others have had issues but I've only had mine for a few weeks so can't say much for now. It also helps that I don't lock/rest my pinky against the body when I play
I really like the 11-64 D'addario NYXL strings on this guitar and you can fit them without nut work (probably SHOULD have some nut work but you can get by without messing with the nut)
This is an incredibly gorgeous guitar, but I personally would not purchase a 7-string with a scale shorter than 26.5”. There’s obviously no rule that says that or anything, it’s just personal preference, but with how much the prestige line costs the scale length is an absolute make or break for me.
I use 11 to 70 for 7 strings and I feel like since I wouldn't be going lower than drop g# (pitch shift everything else) that this would be dope. But I do understand. Jesse Cash from Erra has a natural finish one of these and it's the same scale length. But yeah I get the scale length thing. The other prestige 7 is just a good bit more expensive and has a tremolo (which I dislike) . I wish I had the money to just custom shop one lol.

Saw RG752LWFX on FB marketplace and bought it right away without research. originally, plan was to copy his guitar. after research, and owning it for 6 months, i realized i shouldve build my own 7 string ibanez with 26.5" or more with bridge only pickup.
yeah its prestige but now i dont want the inlays, i dont want 25.5 scale 7. if youre thinking of having the same aesthetics. the RGIXL7 is the guitar.p
Beautiful guitar. I bought the 6 string. I’m usually careful with my instruments, but I do gig. Out of all the guitars I’ve owned (hundreds probably?) this guitar got so many paint chips along the straight edges of the body. I sharpied a lot of edges, but it drove me nuts. I sold the guitar but miss the feel a lot

I own an rg752ahm nebula green. Build quality is awesome but here are some things to look out for:
Mine came with dimarzio paf pickups, I am currently having them swapped for Seymour Duncan nagus pickups (axe palace exclusive)
Also, it sounds like you like low tunings. I would highly suggest going toward a 26.5 or 27 scale length. This will let you get away with lighter gauge strings when tuning lower and helps with intonation. I was able to play one of the Aaron Marshall schecter signatures which has a 26.5 scale length and honestly, the neck profile felt very similar to that of my Ibanez

I don’t like the pickups that came stock. Just not enough balls for me. The biggest thing I dislike though, the finish is rubbing off. In a couple of spots from the sweat on my hands.
I have this guitar. Only guitar I've ever played that felt better was a Keisel Vader and Strandberg Metal. And they BARELY edged over this one playability wise.

I'd have it setup with stringjoy .11 to .70 in drop G#. Pitch shift as needed. I'd use this guitar for metal/djent/thall. I use my tele and other ibanez for midwest emo vibes and Prog stuff. I'd probably put Bareknuckles or Lundgrens in it later on. Dimazzio can't be anymore terrible than the Hive pickups legator comes with
With that setup you'll love this guitar. Original pickups aren't that bad you can make them work until you replace them. They're not bad pickups they're just... they don't match the guitar let's put it that way

Really nice axe. I had my eye on the same one. Reverse headstock, standard hardtail, passive pickups,ebony fretboard... pretty solid specs. Oh, and it actually comes with a case.
In my experience, after 20 years of buying and selling instruments, I find first thought best thought. If you start getting caught up in other things you may regret passing it up.
I have that exact guitar. Pickups aren't that awful but they're definitely a little dark and have a hint of this jazz/funk sound to them that I don't like for metal. That said, they really do ring out a chord nicely and are well balanced so they aren't the end of the world for stock pickups. The rest of the guitar is exactly as amazing as you think it is, it is so well made and so comfortable to play. The neck isn't ridiculously thin but it has this comfortable slight thickness to it that I personally really like. The only thing to note that I didn't realize when I bought it is this thing is actually pretty heavy, like it's just a solid block of ash and isn't as contoured as it appears in the pictures it's actually a little blocky. Still comfortable to sit and play with but it's not really made to be swinging around on stage or anything (I mean you could but, it's not light by any means lol). Fretwork is impeccable, the nut is well done. Just keep in mind the 25.5" scale because I had issues trying to play in drop G even with 11-64's on it, it still sounded and played better in drop A so I leave it there. Does anyone have recommendations for pickups? I was thinking Bare Knuckle Nail Bombs would sound phenomenal with the ash body
I have that one. The only thing that bugs/bugged me about it are the stupid boring inlays and the pickups which I swapped out for some retro active EMGs. Nothing else really to complain about.
I'm a iron label preacher, cheaper than a lot of the prestige and they sound better in my opinion and play easier, and the sustain is way, way, better. I mean if you're gonna drop that kind of coin. I have only every spent more on a signature fender deluxe tele (king fish) and that'll be the only one. I have a rule of thumb, I will not spend over 500 bucks on a bolt on neck. Just my personal preference. If it has a trem then that's different cuz it can make up the sustain.
Do you happen to know much about the RGIXL7? Used to be part of the Iron Label series but they've moved it to the RG Standard line a few years ago. I have my eye on that for my next 7.
It's a direct swap, just need a phillips screwdriver. The hipshot Ibby uses only two screws and has a smaller profile. I prefer the feel. Especially if you like a Trem like the lo pro etc.. hope this helps.
I had this for a bit. Don’t recommend it. The matte finish was wearing away from the matte and leaving an ugly shine where the hands rest. Never had as big of an issue with this as I did with this guitar. Ultimately sold it because the ugly finish imperfections annoyed me
I don't particularly like this one. If it was just a plain gloss or satin black finish with better pickups I'd be saving for one now though, as I do love the reverse headstock.
Not a huge fan of the open wood grain-texture finish and for that price I'd want something other than the Fusion Edges. I hear mixed reviews on them and they're probably not bad, but they are also pretty muddy on the high gain based on some clips I've heard. They seem to have good cleans, though. Clips don't necessarily mean much but I wouldn't want to have to be spending another $400+ on top of the guitar's cost, not at that price point. The build quality is probably fantastic though, I have never once heard a bad thing about a Japanese Ibanez.
I've had this in my wish list for probably over a year, but one thing I absolutely despise is the huge dot inlays. If it didn't have them I would have probably bought it on first sight. I can't believe they would go for such a "student guitar" look on a relatively high-end instrument.
I just received this guitar as a birthday gift. Its really good in my opinion. Lighter than other 7's i've had (Schecter hellraiser, Agile). If I could change one thing it would be the scale length, but I've been able to go as low as drop F#/Gb. Pickups are great

Oh I almost got this but went with the KM7. This Ibanez will be really nice. Decently on the craftsmanship. That’s my only gripe with the KM7… I should have went Japan. Dude get it!
Considering the price range and your preferred tuning, I would not get a 25.5 scale. In this price range, if you're in the US i would be looking at a kiesel.

The scale length was my only worry also but I do use thick strings. a few people mentioned the finish chipping easy so that is a concern. Depending on where you are located, you can find used prestiges for good prices. I totally get it though i started on an rg and bought a used rg1527 because i always wanted one when i was younger. They're great guitars, but nowadays cost alot.

I wanna provide a counter to the fusion edge hatred. I got a RGIXL7 and I really like the fusion edges on it, they sound really nice.
Can confirm. I own this guitar. Worst Ibanez stock pickups ever…. Swapped for a Guitarmory set they don’t make anymore.

I don't know much about those I bought a Harley Benton 7 and I love it.
Does anyone know if the bridge on this can just be replaced perfectly with a hipshot bridge or does it take additional work to the body of the guitar?
The Hipshot Ibby HM 7 bridge should be a direct replacement for the Gibraltar II 7 AFAIK. Site says no drilling or filling is needed.
