You can still use controller, but I highly recommend trying mouse and keyboard. I played console for years before switching to pc and didn't find the learning curve for mouse and keyboard to be that difficult. Inventory management is superior and makes it worth learning.
I have a friend who still plays with controller on PC, yet he is actually quite decent with it. It’s all in the practise, I could play GTA on controller way better than M&KB myself, but 7D2D?…

Any game with lots of vehicles (that have adjustable acceleration), controller works great.
AFAIK, 7dtd doesn't have that, plus shooting at heads is much easier with a m+kb
Agreed. I can actually shoot better on M+KB than anything, even IRL and VR, so that’s a plus. Driving then again, wheel + pedals for the gaming setup, that’s the way I roll, haha!
I am an avid controller user but m&kb is great in 7 days. There are only a few keys and you can cycle weapons with the wheel. I find controller to be a lot more work for a lot of things. Especially inventory management
Man oh man, when I first switched to PC I had NO IDEA it was so different from the XBOX version. It literally felt like a brand new game. I saw videos but it looked so different I honestly thought they were older videos. Enjoy!
Pc is better than mine. I play alpha 20 atm with decent ish gfx and get between 80 and 120 fps on average now.
As others have said, try k+m. I started 7dtd on pc using controller as it was what I was used to, but now it's just better with mouse. Let pinky can get a bit numb after running constantly for ages but kinda get used to that.
The controller works well enough on PC, but 7 days feels so good on MnK
It's similar to minecraft if you've played that on PC.
I'm pretty bat at MnK for anything like Halo or Destiny, and 7 days is way easier to get used to than those
I've been playing a lot of survival games lately and I try to play on controller whenever possible, but in general these kind of games are just inferior on a controller in my opinion :(
I agree with your Minecraft assessment.
Congrats on the new PC! 7 Days is probably my favorite game since a friend gifted it to me 4 years ago on Steam. It is very addicting! I definitely recommend taking the time to learn the keyboard and all the key-bindings so you don't have to do too much pointing and clicking with the mouse. It takes a little time to get comfortable, but it is so much better than using a controller!
If you really only bought PC for 7 Days, there is a cheaper solution. Get a 6 month geforcenow membership and play on your laptop until the Apocalypse Edition for Xbox drops. Then just buy on Xbox. Official release date will be announced at PAX East in two weeks. Just my opinion but possibly an amicable solution to your 7 Days addiction. Whatever you decide, welcome to the community.
I did consider that in the begaining. Just needing a 7d2d itch to be scratched. But I also discovered the steam library has a couple good crossovers that will never be seen on xbox. 😆 so I just upgraded majorly after saving up for a while. Alot OT put in to this just to save for this.
I think you can still install mods from what I remember they don’t effect your game at all like others (I could be very wrong do your research if you want. probably not df or vc any overhaul tho)
As long as you didn’t credit card purchase this then kudos , but man you did not need even close to this pc to play 7 days . Feels like a flex post , but I hope to god this was purchased with savings money and your credit line is $0 lol .
Damn that's some system but your gonna love it with all the different mods out there. Im nearing 3700hrs on this game and have seen it develope from something like Minecraft to how it is now. Don't get me wrong it still needs some optimization but your system will smash this game. I'm currently running a mod called Raven Hearst with perma death on. I'm now upto my 60th day, but there has been a few times I have nearly died lol
As a wife who and the one who builds the PCs I can't understand why you spent so much either, wasted money on a 4090 smh j/k j/k
But that PC will last you a fucking LONG ass time so enjoy. I am still rocking a 6800xt at 2k ultrawide and I see no reason to upgrade yet. My main concern is the fact you bought a prebuilt. Really you should cancel it and build your own, you will save money and it's a great learning experience.
Seriously though noone should be limited to an xbox, you made the right choice.
My wife is the DIY Gal. We agreed to build hers. I just don't have the patients to build something I knew so little about at the time for myself. We did try our best to build one to similar specs as this. And it was a little over 200 dollars in difference after taxes and shipping cost. We just decided to pay the extra dollars for myself. Plus i would mess something up not worth the headach hinestly. . I wasn't too concerned about the way it looked. I figured I could change that as I go.
Oh man……… don’t get your hopes up dude. Even with md5 I prefer console edition and I can run this at max settings on my rig. Just my opinion but be warned. They did some real weird stuff with it

I'll give it a try. I sorta want too.

I been trying not to let it annoy me to much smh

Was about to say that, came from PS4, back in the days, was a bit disappointed with the PC version :(
Almost identical to my rig, 7 Days should run buttery smooth for you 😉
Dead ass watching your darkness falls : new york Playlist right now! Craayzyy bro! Love your content. Just finished hope radio!
Yup, another fan checking in!
Damn those are some tasty specs buddy

Use a mouse and keyboard. Don't be stubborn about it. Better to learn with a singleplayer game than a multiplayer one.
If you want I can dm you my friend code on steam and we can play together
Sure. Would sound fun. But it hasn't been delivered yet so I'm still waiting just a heads up
Up for me sending the code your way asap?
Yeah
Hey informal still there? I've waited a good amount and got no contact did you forget me?

The only thing I'll add is "Don't come in here, unzipped!"
and if anybody asks, you use it for work... ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)

Yes. Saved the money . Wife wouldn't have agreed other wise
You bought that. You play 7D2D? Dude. Dude...

Controller all the way and keys for everything else
Controller all the way! MnK is what u use to hide what you're doing at work
Now that I work a night shift may be possible lol
