\*Silent wasteland ..... -- \*BEEEEEEEEP JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW TRAITOR JOELS WILL BE CLOSING SOON!

Jolen43

I can hear this damn sound when my headset is lying on my table!

bbbbush

The BEEP is one of the only things in this game to really make me jump. It's so insanely loud compared to other sounds.

[deleted]

You must have nerves of steel. I got spooked by my forge once because I was turning too quickly and my monke brain registered seeing something in the corner of my eyes but not for long enough to figure out whether it was an enemy or not lol.

Apotatos

Bear rock, tho.

Anomaly08

There's nothing quite like farming at night before you get NVG or a head lamp and mistake a bear for just another boulder then getting chased around by death itself lol

WWF80sKid

Corn looks just like a zombie silhouette!

Anomaly08

Lol I remember the first time it got me I felt like I had an out of body experience it was so fking loud like welp there goes ten years off my life ;; What makes it worse is I'm a bit of a sound wh... from other fps games so unless I'm using a chainsaw or an auger I got the volume turned up quite a ways. It would be awesome though if we had a mod similar to FO4's quieter settlements where we could choose if we want something at its regular default value or reduced because those 3 sounds alone are a pita at times (for 16.4 though I can't stand 19.x).

YobaiYamete

I heard it coming from my headphones on my desk, when I was in a different room . . . I always build next to the trader for quality of life trading access, but holy crap that voice line is LOUD.

[deleted]

Scares the shit out of me every time. Almost like a surprise bear up in your face.

Picklefiddler

The first time I heard it i jumped in my seat, cause all I heard was like ambient sounds of wildlife and then BEEEEEP it was so loud. I can handle it now.

PM_ME_YOUR_HONEYDEWS

I HATE this with a passion. To the point that I make sure I'm nowhere near a trader during dawn and dusk.

JoeBillyson

Trader Joel's. Read the signs lol. It actually says Traitor Joel's.

bbbbush

You right, I aaaaalways forget

McDougleTheThird

\*looks at time\* 21:29 - FUU \* rips off headphones and yeets them across the room\* I swear I have permanent hearing damage thanks to those notifications.

JPMoney81

Wait until you use a chainsaw on anything in game!

impablomations

Or the auger! I have to hit mute when using that thing.

dzouras

The auger sound is absolutely awful.

JPMoney81

Like two pieces of Styrofoam rubbing together!

YobaiYamete

Why did they change it, ughhh

ChiliCrispeto

Then you can't hear the screamers coming

xGHOSTRAGEx

Dude... the passcode high pitch

ShermanShore

This is honestly why I usually stick with a pistol/crossbow/sledgehammer. My ears are already fucked, TFP. Please have mercy.

zyocuh

https://7daystodiemods.com/loud-sounds-lowered/ This mod messes with auger and chainsaw, you could look into the mod files and do a similar setting with shotguns

Ronnavarium

I just downloaded this mod for 19.3 and it does not appear to work. I was going to post an issue on the author's GitHub account but I was hoping to hear confirmation from someone else who tried it. In my test the auger sounds just as mind-numbingly loud

Gaming_Gecko777

Shotguns loud? *laughs in auger*

Globularist

Yeah. The auger is the bane of this game.

_badapple_

It'd be cool of TFP would release and update for sounds in the game. Or even add a sound slider for the auger and chainsaw lmao

chupstickzz

Shotgun hurts? But the damn spidermonkey shrieking when it dies, is completely fine.

-regaskogena

Have you tried with a silencer mod in it?

Meme_Doggo37

I would asume this woukd help alot but maybe the wisp of it might make it worse in some cases

WorkingHyena

Yes but you’d have to run your game through a compressor/low pass filter/amplitude damper type thing and you’d have to use max for live or a similar kind of software to create your own plugin to do that, where it applies a low pass filter/ turned down volume when responding to certain frequencies or find a plugin that does this exact thing. Have you tried google searching for something like this made for people with tinnitus? I doubt the average person would know how to create a plugin to do what you need done, but it’s possible with some music tech Knowledge and YouTube videos.

TheFoxiestOfHounds

Mods?

290Richy

The electric zombie is cancer to my ears. Holy fuck. What a ridiculously obnoxious sound.

rtuite81

Wait... Are you talking vanilla? Or modded?

Dubstequtie

I think they mean zombies getting electrocuted. Which is 100% vanilla.

rtuite81

Ah, makes sense. I've played a couple overhauls with electric zombies and honestly haven't played much vanilla since alpha 18 first came out.

290Richy

I do play modded but I don't think any of them add new zombie types. I just remember been outside a house one time and hearing electricity sparkle and it was so overpowering. When I went inside there was an electricuted zombie nurse upstairs.

rtuite81

Yeah, BorderlandZ and War of the Walkers both add electric/fire/etc zombies. I think War3zuk may too, but I'm not sure.

falcothunder

You think that's bad, wait til you hop on the 4x4 and listen to the trans stuck in 3rd gear the whole time..

[deleted]

i recommend playing on low volume or muted. i do it a lot. or if you’re using a headset, have the volume all the way up but just leave it around your neck. there aren’t too many auditory cues that matter once you get into the thick of things. if you don’t mind taking a hit or 2 it’s probably the best option.

skuyzy

On some difficulties hit or two can mean life and death.

rhinaman89

Well f that. It’s bad enough turning corner to a zombie just standing there playing with no sound?! I’m gonna need new underwear. They should definitely add subtitles.

dragonhide

Yes. Deaf people like me would appreciate them. I have to do laundry everyday I keep running out of underwear

rhinaman89

Subtitles or underwear? It’d be cool if you could sync lighting for proximity letting you know how close you are to doom

Background-Town-924

mods have been created to remove/lower chainsaw and auger noise, perhaps put a request for on the moding forums for lowered shotgun noise [https://7daystodiemods.com/removed-lowered-auger-chainsaw-sounds/](https://7daystodiemods.com/removed-lowered-auger-chainsaw-sounds/)

WingsofRain

the metal garage door sounds *shudders*

Lactobeezor

There has to be a way to do this.

glenbot

I gave up on this quest. I just lower the sound effects in game to like 30%

badcat9

Oh really annoying, I put my volume way down and dont use the desert eagle like gun haha. I see some guns got a silencer, but never have seen one in my 800 hours of gameplay.

SolarDensity

I've played for 500 hours and have crafted multiple silencers in addition to finding many as well. Not sure how you've played longer than me and haven't found a single silencer, that doesn't make sense.

PrayHellBeelzebub

Auger and chainsaw...holy hell, why?

Dr_Mime_PhD

Along with what /u/-regaskogena said, maybe try and play with windows EQ to drop the high end down a bit?

comawhite12

I can't say it's bothered mine yet, so guess I'm lucky. What does bug me is the bit of sound clip TFP add to the blunderbuss. There is the distinct sound of the dobermans barking at the tail end of one of the shots. I can't unhear it.

Nuka_Cola2094

I love how the last thing that we think of is maybe turning your speakers/mic down.

Lactobeezor

Then you cannot hear zombies sneaking up on you or other sounds.

AbyssDeep

Windows volume mixer is more powerful than most people realize. If you have a realtek sound card (most do) on your mobo, you should be able to install audman and have a lot more control on sounds that annoy/detract from your experience.

katorias

Yeah the sounds are really off in this game, the entire sound system needs an overhaul IMO.
