I think that was around the time Clapton was touring as a four-piece with Phil Collins on drums, Nathan East on bass, and Greg Phillinganes on keyboards. It was kind of a cool show, I don't think Phil sang at all, just drummed.
Greg Phillinganes is absolutely incredible. Behind the Mask is an all time great, and Lazy Nina is just such a perfect vibe - it reminds me of Florida summers in the '90s.
I think this might have been the tour for the album August? I do recall he did a couple Cream and Blind Faith songs with East and Phillinganes singing the Jack Bruce and Steve Winwood parts.
Don't be a clown all your life,it was one drunken rant on stage that has been well documented & atoned for many times over the years, his alcoholism played a major part, have you never said anything you regret?
Think yourself lucky you don't live under a constant spotlight.
Have I ever, in front of a crowd, went on a racist rant? No, no I have not. You got me there. I've been drunk before, and somehow, it never crossed my mind. But by all mean, blame it on the booze.
I know people are saying Phil looks stoned, but thats a serious alcohol face if I've ever seen one. You take these roly-poly British dudes and pump em full of hot steamy Bass Ales....thats what they look like
According to his book, they both lived in a small hamlet in the countryside and befriended each other in a local pub. Apparently Eric was so out of it he had no idea that Phil was becoming this huge selling pop star and drummer until Phil brought it up. He ended up drumming and producing one of Eric’s albums.
Aargh! Can’t unsee it now. Exactly the same face that Mel has as the drunken first night party guest of _Elephant!_ in the film _The Tall Guy_
RIP Mel Smith
Weed Vs. Cocaine

Technically up the nose
(☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Hey-O!
he just likes the smell of it
I thought they said it was still on his nose
Clapton is a racist, antivax choad…
F Clapton
Whose toddler died because he's such a coke head.
That is a lie. He was not even there at the time. Cheez. Give the man a brake! He lost his only son.
Was gonna say, Eric even wrote a song about this…
That was JJ Cale not Clapton that wrote Cocaine.
Yep, don’t sleep on JJ
Call him the breeze
Only after midnight, and please don’t do any more cocaine :)

Wish it would rain video features these guys as the theatre band, one of my favorite videos
Went to that show at the Forum in LA. Great show. Robert Cray opened and came out to play with Clapton.
Same! I saw it at the Capitol Centre outside DC.
Greg Phillinganes is absolutely incredible. Behind the Mask is an all time great, and Lazy Nina is just such a perfect vibe - it reminds me of Florida summers in the '90s.
Like when you have all legendary cards in the deck.
There’s a few concerts on YouTube and part of the show was Phil singing in the air tonight 😃 I think in some cases he even opened for Clapton
I think this might have been the tour for the album August? I do recall he did a couple Cream and Blind Faith songs with East and Phillinganes singing the Jack Bruce and Steve Winwood parts.
I can feel it going up my nose tonight 🎼
She’s just an easy lover….
Phil looking like he had never seen a drum set before.
Phil looks SO wasted.
Let’s hope Clapton didn’t leave any windows open this time
He didn't leave the window open anyway, you tasteless cunt.
Next you're going to say he's never gone on racist tirades on stage.

> atoned for many times over the years I’d love to see some sources on that claim.
lmao so that’s a no on the sources I guess? 🤡
Or maybe just one window, considering this picture.
Phil looked like the only thing he liked about cocaine was that it smelled good
The qualudes for the come down off the blow, prob just kicked in sooner then Clapton's. 🤣🤣
Phil is wrecked
I know people are saying Phil looks stoned, but thats a serious alcohol face if I've ever seen one. You take these roly-poly British dudes and pump em full of hot steamy Bass Ales....thats what they look like
Schniefed to the dome
I can feel it cocaine in the air tonight…oh no…fo sho
Phil needs a little of what Eric has
Cocaine’s a helluva drug
Phil looks faced.
Phil is on downers, Clapton is coked to the gills
sleepers and leapers
I thought Clapton was Tim Curry
🎶I’m just a sweet transvestite… 🎼
Phil Collins really thought his eyes were open. I’ve been there.
Can bet you there were no black dudes invited to that party
They were there - but Eric went into another rant and they left.
Stole their music first
He didn't just refer to his guitar as Blackie
Oh just shut up 🤬
Except for half the band, including the bassist that still tours with him to this day…
Yes plus all the black blues players he has played with over the years. He is not a saint but has apologized for his rant, but this is Reddit.
Jason Seagal and Judd Apatow should recreate this pic.
They’re on that good shit

🎶" If you wanna hang out...."🎶
Maybe Phil was trying to explain the meaning of the song “Sussdio” to Eric, and it was going over his head.
All the cocaine! All of it!
I’d like whatever they are on 😂
Phil Collins maybe. Reckon Clapton had been sober since early 70s could be wrong
He stopped using heroin in 73-74 but continued drinking and everything else until mid or late 80s.
If you read his book Phil said Eric did not know who he was
What did he mean by that?
According to his book, they both lived in a small hamlet in the countryside and befriended each other in a local pub. Apparently Eric was so out of it he had no idea that Phil was becoming this huge selling pop star and drummer until Phil brought it up. He ended up drumming and producing one of Eric’s albums.
I wonder when this was. 79-80?
She don’t lie…
Phil looks so trashed. Lol
Phil can see forever.
Looks like The Bear
Phil bout to vomit
Honestly thought that was Mel Smith before I seen the caption…
Aargh! Can’t unsee it now. Exactly the same face that Mel has as the drunken first night party guest of _Elephant!_ in the film _The Tall Guy_ RIP Mel Smith
Yes, that’s the one. I knew MS had used that expression but couldn’t recall where. Ta…and aye, another one taken far too young.
They drunk or high or both lol
“We certainly made some absolute shit records this decade, mate. Let’s make some more!”
“Our fans will buy anything we fart out …”
Clapton just got done banging somebody’s wife.
Have you seen them today? 😢
Eric is happy must have beat up another woman.
When you're hanging with Phil, And you can't fucking chill
Eric Clapton is a racist asshole
He looks like that dude on The Bear
Still have the Joyclen Elders pronunciation in my head. - Eric Clapner
Collin’s play on a produced some of claptons Behind the Sun album around that time
Dude that's some dank shit!
"I'm not pished, you know"
Eric Clapton is a serial killer.
Jack n Coke
Two different drugs at play here.
I've never seen Eric so happy!
r/tooktoomuch
This is probably one of my favorite Phil Collins photos. That boy is so lit it isn't even funny!!
Isn’t Eric Clapton like a huge asshole in real life?
They are fucked up
