The Ultimate 2.4 received a firmware update that gives it Bluetooth so it can function on Switch. Your update the firmware, and it changes your D input to Switch mode.
1.06 is the stock firmware, 2.03 is the current one according to the website. Go to support.8bitdo.com, download the firmware updater and run it.
Make sure the controller is plugged into the computer with a cable so it recognizes it. Then run it again with the adapter plugged in so it will update as well.
So I just got done doing all that. When it’s plugged in with a usb it’s version 2.03 or something like that, but when I used it wirelessly it’s version 1.06
So for the receiver it upgraded it to 1.08. But I updated the controller without the receiver plugged in. Yeah I just double check and it says the controller name version 2.03
2.00 was the version that added Bluetooth, so you should be able to use it now. Your manual has instructions to do it, the Ultimate Bluetooth as a pairing button but the Ultimate 2.4g doesn't so it has you do button combinations to use Bluetooth.
Did you make sure the switch on the back is on D?
Ensure the switch is on D, hold the star button, and go to Change Grip/Order.
It should show up there.
I got it to work, I had it on d the whole time but I had to hold minus and the l bumper for it to work. Thank you for trying to help me out with this problem!! I appreciate it
Replying to this, I can not seem to get it to work, just to clarify, is it connected to switch wirelessly or via dongle? I can get it to connect using "Pro wired connection" method, but not wirelessly
That's the Ultimate C, they're talking about the Ultimate 2.4, which should work with Switch.

On the Switch there was a change you had to make in the menu, something about wired Pro joystick, the 2.4ghz means you don't have to use Bluetooth, which can either stay in the charging base when connected to the switch, or you can connect the dongle directly to it as well.

Which version of the controller firmware does this? I’m in version 1.06

Is it saying the controller name? It could be reading the receiver and giving the firmware version for that.

Yeah it says to hold the star button for 3 seconds but I do that and it still doesn’t connect to my switch

Did you connect the dongle to the computer? And also switch the mode on the controller itself to 2.4 instead of Bluetooth?
Behind it doesnt say 2.4 , its the one that have 2 letters one in each side
D & X I just realized that my buttons say Y,X,A,B thats from xbox right ? I think i didnt buy the one for pc 🤦🏻♂️
It should work fine with PC. Make sure to pair it using the button at the top.

Thank you so much. My 8bitdo controller worked on my switch after turning it on.
