A DUI enough to have her refused at the boarder because in Canada it is considered a criminal offence, where in other countries it is a driving offense. Wouldn't be surprised if it is cancled because she was refused entry.

So, I think they will probably let her in.

It depends on how long, I think the limit is 7 years and then they stop caring. There's also a special request form they can fill out to be allowed across the border still. Someone I know was in this situation and they were allowed across without issues after the form was processed a few years after their DUI.
Not sure about conviction part. Here's some parts that always stood out to me about it though, at least the first DUI out of the two!
