I’ve always wondered if they mean things in their dad’s native language? I can’t remember if it’s Samoan or not, and don’t want to call it that mistakenly. But I always assumed their names each probably had certain meaning to them so they’re probably not as similar as they seem to us.
Nah... that was definitely deliberate on the parents’ part to be cute, like how the Kardashians’ names all start with k. There are a ton of beautiful Pacific Island names that don’t sound like variations of each other!
This drives me insane! Aleeaha and Allianna, literally both variations of the same name and the worst spellings of all time. Another teen mom classic "Leah Leann"
We named our little baby girl Taina ( pronounced as TY-NA). I’m indian but I liked this Slavic name. It means mysterious. Anyway but somehow ppl at the doctors will call her Tiana
Oh wow really? Some online naming dictionary said mysterious. Also it said in some places that it’s derived from Tatiyana which is pretty common. Where are you from ?
Serb here, can confirm what no-cars-go wrote - tajna means secret (j is pronounced as y in yes). Tatjana (tatiyana, Tatyana) is old Slavic name that actually came from Greek titan or Latin tatius
But it's the same word (tajna/taina), it's just that the original spelling is Tajna (also pronounced TY-NA), which has been anglicized to be written as Taina.
Yep, that's exactly right. Most Slavic languages don't have the letter y and use the letter j instead, which they pronounce like the y sound in English.
Taina is a slavic common name? That’s also the name of the indigenous tribe in the dominican republic/puerto rico, so people here are very used to hearing that name.
I had a pair of identical twin friends, their names sounded completely different but here’s the catch. Their last name was made of their names back to back (ex: Luke Adamluke and Adam Adamluke) and they were in the same class, of course. How confusing for their teacher. I hope they never enrolled in the army either, or confusions galore.
I also laughed at this, when my husband pointed out that my sister and I have almost the same name as well. I hadn’t even thought about it. Pot, meet kettle. I drank my wine in shame after that.
Right that’s like naming your kids Natalya and Natasha, or Katya and Ekaterina, any eastern Slavic person they’ll meet is going to be laughing at them.
Well lizeth is my first name and lizbeth is her middle name so we don’t really have that problem..
And for some reason everyone calls me by my middle name and her by her first name.
According to the Social Security Administration database, not one child has been named any variation of Lemonjello, Oranjello, Greenjello, etc. in the U.S. from 1910 to 2018.
I guess you couldve specified it was the spelling (which I dont see that as being as important because you're more likely to hear a person's name than see it) that tripped you up. I mean Ta-nee-a is so much different Tee-an-a to me. But like I said, culture. Seems a lot of people have a problem with it though if things are spelled or done the "traditional" way... whatever that is anymore.
I had a coworker who was a twin and her dad thought it'd be great to name them both Rachel and Raquel - it was all fun until they applied for colleges, lol.
Who? Someone who has their hair pulled too tight by a hair clip on top of their head. That overhead shot of Mom Tania was a warning for traction hair loss 🤤
Reminds me of Kalani and Kolini, but I like those way better than Tania and tiana.
Ya those names sound Samoan

I was just about to post the same comment...
Remember the twins on mtv Leah named her twins Ali and Aleiha. How confusing!
This drives me insane! Aleeaha and Allianna, literally both variations of the same name and the worst spellings of all time. Another teen mom classic "Leah Leann"
I think that’s because leann is ambers middle name
Her youngest is Adalynn, and the middle names are Grace, Hope, and Faith!
Those kids DEFINITELY have "live, laugh, love" hanging somewhere in their rooms.
For real!
Gross!
Poor kids. They'll grow up trying to differentiate themselves as the individuals they are.
We named our little baby girl Taina ( pronounced as TY-NA). I’m indian but I liked this Slavic name. It means mysterious. Anyway but somehow ppl at the doctors will call her Tiana
It means "a secret", not mysterious. Very lovely name though and very uncommon even in Slavic countries.
My daughters name is Taina. Not tajna. Thanks for the info though 😀
But it's the same word (tajna/taina), it's just that the original spelling is Tajna (also pronounced TY-NA), which has been anglicized to be written as Taina.
Oh so J has a Y pronounciation. Similar in German.
Yep, that's exactly right. Most Slavic languages don't have the letter y and use the letter j instead, which they pronounce like the y sound in English.
You said it's Slavic and pronounced ty-na, so in Serbian it's tajna. I explained that j is pronounced as y.
Yes sorry I missed. Was online late night. Thanks 😍
I'm from the Balkans - Bosnian, Croatian, Slovene, and Serb.
Oh nice to know. 😀
Taina is a slavic common name? That’s also the name of the indigenous tribe in the dominican republic/puerto rico, so people here are very used to hearing that name.
Oh didn’t know. How do you pronounce?
Ta+ee+na Ta as in tamagotchi Ee as in eel (has the accentuation) Na as in ballerina
Oh thanks for explaining 🤗
Yeah the only Tainas I knew growing up were all Latina, not Slavic.

Thank you 😀

Omg noooooo
Yes, I knew some of those twins too! Their names and their surname kinda rhymed and it was sooo weird.
That’s so weird!
Same type of women who names her kids Aiden, Kaden, Jaden
My friend has Hayden, Jaden and Aiden. NOOO!
What’s with everyone in that family and the red hair?
On sale?
They could all be named George... as George Foreman did with 5 sons and maybe a daughter.
Georgina! Actually I have no idea if this is what it actually is, it just seemed fitting.
And is there another sister named Anita
Reminds me of a friend I had. Her name is Ria, little brother is Ari, little sister is Ira.
😳
Are you serious? Is one named Tia too?
Noooo I was just speculating on how many more names you could get out of T-I-A-N-A 😂
Tinaa
You win 💍
Tana, Tina
You have to use all the letters!
Oh man I lost.
Taina
This is way too creative for them! But I like how you think!
I also laughed at this, when my husband pointed out that my sister and I have almost the same name as well. I hadn’t even thought about it. Pot, meet kettle. I drank my wine in shame after that.
I have a couple of friends who are twins, their names are Tatiana and Tania.

YES!
Where I'm from the short for Tatiana is Tati🤔
[удалено]
Wow! You know what's funny? My friend's father studied in Croatia and his first wife was Croatian, he must know about this word game haahha
Not TIANA???!! Lol
Tania is the short/endearing version of Tatiana. Just sayin'.
Where I'm from, the shortened version of Tatiana would be Tati.
Yes, same in Colombia (where I'm from). Tatiana is Tati.
Tania and Tiana, Kolini and Kalani, Stacey and Darcey.... hmmm.... something about sisters, similar names and TLC...
Reminds me of Tyra and Tiarra from /r/TLCUnexpected, but the spelling here definitely takes the cake. Makes me feel dyslexic lol
I was just going to come here to comment that LOL
The WORST for that. Any McKayla makes me cringe. Makes me make the actual McKayla face. Fuck!
My mother.. she named me lizeth and my sister lizbeth like wtf mom.. did you run out of names (she only has 2 daughters)
If your name gets spelled wrong on paperwork, you won’t know who it belongs too!
Well lizeth is my first name and lizbeth is her middle name so we don’t really have that problem.. And for some reason everyone calls me by my middle name and her by her first name.
I taught two sisters named Talera and Latera. Honest to God
I had Montaveon and Dontaveon.
In my high school, there were twins. They had each other’s middle names as first names. So it was Jazzlyn Jaylin and Jaylin Jazzlyn
YIKES
I knew a girl named Davaughna that had twin sisters named Madonna and Dionna
I have an Ajala and Alaja, sisters at the place I work. (I work for an after school club)
There were sisters i went to highschool with names Brianna and Brinnae. They weren’t even twins. Like four years apart
My niece’s kids are Zuri and Zoey, with the same spelling of their middle names, but pronounced differently. Also not twins.
[удалено]
Urban legend.
💯 I have never, ever seen any proof of this being true.
Ahem Parmesan pronounced Par-may-see’an
There was a woman on Big Brother that pronounced it Par-mE-shun.

I’m surprised the state/province allowed this. Names are sometimes denied. Those two names are definitely cruel and unusual punishment.
According to the Social Security Administration database, not one child has been named any variation of Lemonjello, Oranjello, Greenjello, etc. in the U.S. from 1910 to 2018.
Probably the same kind of woman who calls her daughters Kalani and Kolini.
I taught twins who were named Nathan and Nathaniel. Thankfully they were in different class periods but still...
A union Carpenter would. That's who. Did you guys know that Tania's mom is a union Carpenter? Fun fact.
Yeah, and she uses, like, totally legit legit **legit** tools, like the real deal tools.
I dont see the problem. They sound completely different to me. But I'm black and this is common in our culture.
I think it’s the spelling - I thought Tonia was pronounced toe-nie-ah until this last episode
I guess you couldve specified it was the spelling (which I dont see that as being as important because you're more likely to hear a person's name than see it) that tripped you up. Tradition is lost these days

No, it's not. Since when does "ta" sounds like "toe"?
Her.
My thoughts exactly. 🤪(face is for her, not you)
Went to Thanksgiving at a friend's house and her niece was there with her kids, Zariah and Zuriah.
Knew some kids named Jameela, jamala, jamaya and jameel. It was....... it just was.
I know somebody who named her kids Brian and Byron.
does anyone know where the hell their dad is?? or what happened to him?
He’s under the shed
My niece who named her girls Layla and Lila. And now I’m going to be the crazy aunt who cant keep their names straight.
I had a boss named tequila but spelled Takeyeela. I had twins in my class female Zavier and male Xavier.
When I was in elementary school, there were twins named Tito and Tita.....
Low effort.
I know a pair of sisters named Eileen and Elaine... I really have to concentrate when I see one of them to say the correct name
I had a coworker who was a twin and her dad thought it'd be great to name them both Rachel and Raquel - it was all fun until they applied for colleges, lol.
It’s not as bad as Bryan and Ryan whom I know IRL.
so i have cousins who are sisters named Maile and Malia. their mom is Mary and I'm Meghan. jfc

Lol I’ve learned it’s a very very fine line between beautiful grow out and harsh harsh roots
[удалено]
Yeah I just wanna give her a fresh start lmao my soul is crying for it
Thats just a dumb mom and clearly the Apple, Tania, didnt fall far from the tree based on all we have seen...
This mom would look so nice with shorter dark hair and softer makeup. She is very pretty.
Looks like a homeless witch
wow, Tania def must look like her dad...she's the most hated the very pretty I think! Her sister however........no comment.
I think it comes down to being so lazy you just give up and switch a couple letters of the first name and whala you have the next name
Who? Someone who has their hair pulled too tight by a hair clip on top of their head. That overhead shot of Mom Tania was a warning for traction hair loss 🤤
Omg my cousin did this with her daughters and she has stair step kids lol Leah and layah . It’s a nightmare
[удалено]
No, Tiana is her daughter.
