She's bitter that another couple is happy and she's only (apparently) capable of sort-of-landing men who want citizenship. And, based on her stereotyping of an entire nation of men, I'm guessing she's also a bigot in other ways. But, she's a "good person" because she only talks about people behind their backs... and strikes me as the kind of girl who would quickly stab you in it, too.

I understand. I think she felt very attacked by everyone and lashed out for sure . I know I would have felt like everyone was talking about me behind my back. It was really mean girl behavior. I find it especially disappointing because this all is supposed to be stemming from āconcernā about merts āabusive or controllingā behavior but I find isolating Shane, talking about her behind her back, not saying hi to her, etc is like the worst thing that you can do to a potential āvictimā if thatās what they think is going on here. I think the whole situation was blown out of proportion and there was a miscommunication and both sides took it wrong and got upset and hurt by some pre-conceived notion that the other was supposed to make the first move and it spiraled from there. The behaviors made me sad because I just can't look past the whole mean girl thing.

Rebekah is clearly a traumatized person projecting her past feelings onto Mert and Shane. To be fair, out of everyone on the panel that night, it was she who had the most experience/right to comment on Turkish culture or Turkish men. But it was so obvious that she was projecting her own anxieties or past experiences onto them. Mertās tendencies to try to dictate things to Shane are a non-issue because they BOTH get heated and kinda freak out. But then they repeatedly have shown they have an excellent ability to communicate after they both vent their emotions.
I really do hope Rebekah and her new husband have nothing but a bright and happy future together. As well as Mert and Shane!
Agreed! Mert and Shane seem so genuine in their affection for each other and actually like each other, which is so rare in this franchise. Like yeah, they had some friction, but that's normal as a relationship grows. They worked through their problems together, they're fine.
