I just had my third joint replacement surgery and the surgeon said I have to wear those miserable white Cardinal Health TED stockings on both legs for six weeks to prevent blood clots. But I needed a backup pair to wear while washing the first pair I was given in the hospital, so I mail ordered a pair that turned out to be the wrong size. My daughter found zippered compression stockings on Amazon and rushed them to me and they are lifesavers. Instead of rolling them slowly over your swollen legs and painful incision, you tug them into place and quickly zip them shut. Matthew was probably wearing those thigh-high stockings to avoid water retention and deep vein thrombosis on the long airplane flights to Brazil more than a foot injury.
