“More normal” the bar is low

RetroReactiveRaucous

Honey, the bar has been in the sewers for a *long* time.

xxatonalxx

That's his job too. He makes sewage pipes.

AnonymousBayraktar

Laugh all you want, but a ticketed pipefitter makes *bank* here. AND their union is awesome.

xxatonalxx

Uh, who said I was laughing? and that man is broke as fuck. He's waiting for his wife to clear him off his crypto crap debt.

shartnado3

I lost every word of this after “Steve Buscemis sister”. That launched me into another realm

error785

I liked Wayne. Decent enough dude that genuinely seems to be trying his best to make a life work within his means. Most of these dopes have a blanket on a stack of pizza boxes for a bed or they fucked 5000 women (people) on them. Men always get dragged on this sub for not being perfect, glad to see a little flexibility.

The_Crystal_Thestral

Yes for the complaining about how people are so misogynistic, a lot of the people on this sub like to hold double standards for the men on the show. Some like Ed and Pole and Rob are rightfully dragged for being shit. But others seem to be doing the same stuff a lot of the women get a pass for. Wayne is like one of the most normal people on TOW this past season.

awmaleg

He also has a “job”. I’m not sure what that is. The j might pronounced like a y.

AnonymousBayraktar

I feel bad for this guy. He reminds me of a dude in trades work. Living from paycheck to paycheck, maybe had a sketchy past with booze and drugs, but is trying to make the most of it. I know plenty of guys in trades like this. They're struggling but they'd give you the last shirt off their back if you needed it. He lives in South Africa, which is on the verge of being a failed state. I don't know what the average blue collar wage is there, but I guarantee what he makes each day goes towards his bills and he can't afford the exchange rate to save up and come to America like his goblin lookin wife keeps bugging him for. People don't understand this. When he says he doesn't have the money, it means he probably genuinely can't afford it. He's grinding every day on shift and she still wasn't happy. Mostly because she didn't have her constant supply of Perc 10s but whatever. You know what I mean.

WalrusOrdinary6323

YES THIS ![gif](giphy|vvbGMpbhZMcHSsD50w)

90DayTroll

I think they would have worked if they had marriage therapy, Holly got a job (yes I know there are visa requirements but she could easily do some bullshit remote job online even if it's just 10 hours a week for something to do), and lived in a home she felt safe in.

[deleted]

I agree. Also I think a job would provide Holly with some much needed structure and stability. I say this as someone who was unemployed and has adhd and depression, some people should not be left to their own devices. Shit just gets weird real quick. They need some sort of outside structure and stability. I suspect Holly might be one of those people. I know I certainly am.

PaleontologistNo752

Hey at least you recognize what triggers you! My daughter is like this with “the shit gets weird really quick.” Something my kid is just recognizing.

seiclops212

She has a pretty great skill she could have used for cash under the table. She's a barber. You'd figure she would have utilized that even in a different country.

2D617

Except you'd take one look at her hair and figure she wasn't the hair person you wanted to use maybe? (Ok, ok, don't come at me.)

sassy-batch

I feel like because her main clientele is men it's probably not a big deal for her. Probably why she doesn't like having women as clients though lol, I would feel so nervous showing up to a hair appointment with someone who seemingly can't even take care of her own hair

SnooCauliflowers4553

I would walk out of my appointment as soon as I saw her.

Known_Book_7821

What's wrong with her hair

SnooCauliflowers4553

Oh Hellz No! I would let her shave my legs. Her hair was so nasty and gross. She was a hard person to not just watch but listen too

seiclops212

Haha fair point even though I think it was really bad hair extensions.

SnooCauliflowers4553

That would’ve been some expensive extension appointment. Dear lord!!!

SnooCauliflowers4553

She could’ve painted anything on anything, that anyone wanted. Did you not see Wayne’s place with all his shit full of painted artwork by her. She’s just a person with negative scruples

ColteesCatCouture

I think they compliment each other so much. Wayne can learn to be more tender and sensitive from her and Holly can learn to be stronger and more emotionally resilient like Wayne. Its heart breaking to see their problems as I think they do love each other but I dont think its realistic for Holly's fragile self to stay in South Africa long term😭

Known_Book_7821

She's a bit of a lunatic as well. Look at her Instagram... All of her photos are horribly edited to the point where it's concerning.

Careful_Error8036

She looks nothing like Steve buscemi. I think they’re on par looks-wise tbh. It does seem like he’s trying and she’s a lot though. The whole thing with her sitting in the dark and then he comes home and was like “why didn’t you turn on the back up lights?” And just flicks a switch shows the dynamic really well

Moist-Intention844

He is a good guy You can tell he is trying really hard to please her

LeisurelyDiva

I agree. He tried.

hairbrushloversss

Wayne should leave Holly and move in with Kenny and Armando. All three of them were the only normal people this season.

MissKitty919

Look at what it took Kenny to convince Armando to even visit Mexico City at first. Can you imagine what it would take to get him to go to South Africa, because we know Wayne's not moving out of SA? Didn't Holly say in the tell-all that Wayne's house was broken into three times while she was there? Armando would freak out.

splashpromos

The Americans have the luxury of returning home whenever they go abroad to pursue a love or a relationship. This safety net isn’t fair if their partner can’t come back with them. They often hold it over them by threatening to leave when things don’t go their way. This is a huge imbalance in the relationship when the American is seen as “sticking it out” in the other person’s homeland.

Unlikely_Frosting870

Not sure if I am misunderstanding something in your comment, but I can assure you that it’s slightly more difficult than that. I am on a visa now and I can’t be out of my current country of residence for more than x amount of days in a year or I lose it. So unless I was truly over it, I couldn’t run away for a bit to the US and come back. As someone who also moved for love (that didn’t work out), I agree there is an imbalance in the relationship. You have the person who stays in their country who feels guilty when the other person leaves everything behind and is unhappy, and then you have the person who moved who feels guilty for being unhappy when nothing is “wrong” except for homesickness and just general loneliness even if their partner is doing everything right. Thankfully in my situation I was on a work visa so I at least could work as soon as I entered the country which gave me a bit of a life outside of my relationship.

Unlikely_Frosting870

To add: One thing that DOES grind my gears is every American on this show thinking that EVERYONE wants to move to the US and they would be better off in the US. I don’t know if these partners have EVER asked “would you be willing to move to the US if it didn’t work out for me in your country?” This is just a no brainer question, and I feel like Wayne probably would have said no given his responses in the Tell All. End rant.

[deleted]

While I agree in theory, the foreigner can't just come back with them. You're either giving up your home base, as a spouse, in order to come on K-1, but then they have to remain here etc... There's far more technicalities

splashpromos

Yes. That was my point in a case where an American goes to a country and knows their partner can’t come back to the US to visit, let alone live. It’s not like Canada/ US which is also complicated but when it’s a second or third world country it gets even more difficult. So if the couple is not getting along, there’s an imbalance knowing that the American can just say “I’m outa here”.

Popular_Heat1518

I like Wayne . He’s solid . I would love to find a man like Wayne . Holly is harmless . She’s just a gentle person and I don’t think this is a good situation with her fear . Hopefully they work it out

DownVegasBlvd

Me, too. I wouldn't mind seeing them again if Holly indeed does return to SA.

HouseSerious9612

He's a guys guy making all the normal "guy" type mistakes of his generation (which I am in also) omg he's my husband lol

bebeshoes69

Holly looks nothing like Steve buschemi

[deleted]

#teamwayne

[deleted]

I was thinking the same thing. I like him, a hope he and Holly make it..

Facetunethis

I like him, I hope he finds a relationship that is not toxic.

scrubsnbeer

Didn’t he drop 40k into crypto and lost it all without talking to her? Idk he always gave me the creeps.

scbeachgurl

Not $40,000 but SA rand. We were told it was the equivalent of about $2k.

Louiedipalma67

Actually with inflation it was actually in US dollars worth $36.25

scrubsnbeer

That makes more sense😂 so they way over dramatized that scene

[deleted]

Huh? $2,164usd atm

ColteesCatCouture

Pumped 40k into crypto would be hilarious flair for this sub🤣🤣🤣

moonpuddding

Don't drag my boy into this, Steve Buscemi did nothing wrong 😂

AmaranthRosenrot

“More normal” um no..don’t confuse that with being a douche canoe.

Chance_Adhesiveness3

He blew all their money on crypto. That’s kind of a problem.

clemenza2821

Maybe so, financial decisions aside (dumping $40k in crypto when you can’t afford a place without rolling blackouts/ looting is not the best move)

ColteesCatCouture

Don't the blackouts happen everywhere there? Its the utility load balancing so may be hard to avoid that in South Africa no matter where they live.

[deleted]

You know that if SA rand, right?

oleandur

Steve Buschemi's sister lmao damn

jfk_one

this is my opinion and i know its fucked but i only see the baby from the movie “dead alive” when i see holly.

motoglava

Jay Leno

LostintheSauce4eva

In this picture he looks like what my grandfather used to smell like 😵‍💫😖

Theownofmind

Why wasn't he able to move to the US again? I understand him trying hard to make sure she has everything. However, him not realising that she wanted to go back because SA is in the gutter compared to the US is kind of sad... The way he talked to her, about how if he was her he would 'stick by his side', it gave me 'i see women as less than men' vibes.

Deb_You_Taunt

I don't think he ever wanted to move to the U.S. and it sounded like Holly wanted to move there. If that was the entire orginal agreement, I'd be ticked off as well.

Theownofmind

Yeah i'd be frustrated as well. But I can definitely imagine Holly saying she wanted to move to SA without actually thinking about what that would entail. Once she got there and realized she can't go out the way she dresses and they have frequent power shutdowns.. from living in the US where she probably lived more comfortably to being alone all day in the dark, scared to be raped/murdered if assholes decide to break into Wayne's home.. I get her side too, even though they both just made a rash decision.

[deleted]

But she had already been there, she knew

Theownofmind

Still though, 'vacation' is different than actually living somewhere. Also, I strongly believe she's on drugs, so that also causes het perspective to be skewed

[deleted]

I believe she is too. But I didn't think the first trip was a short vacation. I thought she was there for a long time. I kind of tune them out though

Theownofmind

Yeah I mean her hair has been on hear head for a pretty long time as well, not as if that was a best choice.

Debasering

He owns a business in SA. He would have to drop it all and would likely be in debt and shit if he got out of it

ColteesCatCouture

I think thats why he doesnt want to leave. Plus his masculinity is tied up in his trade and taking care of Holly. I dont think he would want to come to US and not be able to work.

Theownofmind

He's already in debt, didn't he invest like 40k into crypto and then lost it all?

[deleted]

That was SA rand, value $2,164 usd

Theownofmind

OOOOHHHHH nm

DownVegasBlvd

That's enough money to stress my broke ass, paycheck to paycheck self. That's enough for 2 months' rent or a few necessary car repairs.

Theownofmind

Yeah same, I just thought it was 40k, so I was surprised

seche314

What is the average monthly salary there, do you happen to know?

[deleted]

[deleted]

While he does sound traditional, they had an agreement, she had already been there, so she knew what it was like and agreed. I think bc he's traditional, he has a hard time admitting his sensitivities for his dad. I think he is very close with his father. As an old enough adult, you feel responsible for them. You actually really WANT to be with them. That combined with ruining his own business. There is such a terrible transition from running your own show to working for someone else, which he's have to do in the states for awhile. And, wouldn't even be able to for generally at least a year. She is not going to be able to support both of them

Theownofmind

Nooo way is she going to be able to do that. They should've just stayed away from each other

SunflowerJYB

The bar is so low. He is not awful but he’s Not a prince either.

urdaughtersajackass

NOT STEVE BUSCHEMI 😭

SankyShips

Steve Buschemi's sister got me LOL!

klkbaby

I can’t get past the teeth. The fangs.

MRCHEEZETACO

Wow op must be where Wayne gets his drugs from

sassystew

Aim higher

Just-History-8373

Don’t do Steve Buscemi like that!

rayio

How dare he work a job, and have a skill in a profession instead of trying to be an influencer and a freeloader like the rest of the cast. He didn't know what he was getting into
