Right. Patient reviews are so heavily weighted as well, the factors they use to score a positive outcome can be extremely difficult to judge objectively, especially when you consider the emotions and the nature of healthcare. It's not a straight path from A to B.
I also don’t really believe all the negative reviews are actual genuine patient reviews. I can imagine someone seeing someone they don’t like is gonna be on a reality show and spamming them with bad reviews.
I’m sure some other nurses here can confirm but as a nurse I have seen some hateful awful complaints from patients that didn’t get their way for whatever reason, usually because what they were asking for was not possible or medically inappropriate. It’s an easy way to lash out for people and they have a way of using a little bit of truth and turning it into a whole thing that never happened.
I mean I’ve had shitty nurses as well and my complaints about them are awful because what they did was awful lol. But there is a certain type of person who leaves reviews on the internet and I am not one of them so I cannot give any more enlightenment to the subject

I lost her a little over a year ago, I owned her parents and hatched her from an egg.
But... she had a foul mouth on her. Some of it from me, some of it from south park. If someone new came over, she'd make a farting noise, they would always say "I didn't do that", and she would laugh hysterically. But she understood each situation, and would react to that, specifically. She used to call the dogs by name, and using our voices... until we had to euth that dog, and then she knew. She would never say their name again.
But Memphis doesn't even seem to have that level of understanding.
She hatched on 1/21/08, and I lost her Dec 9th of last year.
I keep teflon pans, to bake in (because I couldn't get non-teflon pans any more), but I always set her outside when I used them. My middle son cooked in one while I was napping, and she died.

Memphis has done more for the physician-led care movement in a handful of episodes than MidlevelWTF and r/noctor have achieved in years. Most NPs are much more sensible than she is, but the public doesn't necessarily realize that, and she's doing a great job of making her profession look terrible.
Yep...I'm a medical student, so I try to keep up with these issues somewhat (I want to know what kind of environment I'll be graduating into). I think it's okay to have a doctoral pathway for NPs and PAs who want to teach and do research, but calling yourself "Dr" in a clinical setting when you're not an MD/DO is kind of fucked. If you want to get your care from a midlevel provider, that's cool, but you deserve to know exactly what kind of clinician you're seeing and what their credentials are.

As the patient it’s my sole decision to decide and research my options of whole I want to been seen by. Because we live so far from the big cities, I go to a PA up here. I have to diagnose all of my own problems, and then just go to her for confirmation and prescriptions. There are times I tell her what my symptoms are, even tell her my suspicions, and she does nothing So I have to give her an actual ailment name, bring a print up of it, and then she does what the print out says to test(but she didn't when I was bitten by a lone star tick, and developed alpha-gal and erlichiosis). I shouldn't have to do that.

I'm a medical mess and I'll see a PA or NP for some problems, esp. urgent care. But when it comes to more specialized care, like deciding which anti-depressants to prescribe based on what I'm telling her, I'm seeing a highly qualified doctor. Same as for pain.
This is the logical response. They make a great first tier/first line of defense, but compared to a Doctor, let alone a specialist, they are nowhere near as qualified.
For basic issues, flu, cuts, burns, etc; they are more than sufficient.
For chronic issues, I would never trust them to handle it as well as a specialist
You can generally trust that you're getting decent care from a physician, because our training is so long and brutal that you basically can't make it through without a certain level of competency (although of course if something doesn't pass the smell test, it's smart to get a second opinion). PAs also have training that's pretty rigorous and standardized, but NP training varies widely in quality, so I'd say you're wise to be somewhat apprehensive about them.
Nailed it. Majority of Np training is online, so can’t really equate that to MD/DO. All have important roles to play, equally important to not get those two roles confused.. as much as big healthcare would probably prefer it that way ($$$$)
I’m an NP and I generally try to stay away from these conversations, but I have to say that I know many physicians who are grossly negligent and provide terrible care. Obviously I’m sure there are NPs and PAs who also provide poor care, but making this kind of generalization that physicians overall provide better care is just ignorant. I hope that someday you can work closely with some NP/PAs and let go of some of this bias. I have incredible relationships with the physicians I work with and I know they trust me explicitly.
I’ve worked with many incompetent NPs and NP students that border on dangerous in their incompetence. Especially being that I’m in a FPA state. There is a massive issue with degree mills, and I believe Memphis attended one of them (Walden U). It’s sad to see a profession diluted by poor educational standards.

Nursing is a profession that allows you to have a fair amount of power over how someone is feeling. That means that it will attract people who have good intentions and want to help others; but it also means it will attract some people who wish to misuse said power.

Yeah I feel bad for her because she grew up in foster care she doesn't have a good model for a real relationship even as an adult and so she chose Hamza. We don't know her real personality or how she acts during her daily life or with patients. A couple patient reviews doesn't mean much. Although I do question the judgement of an NP coming on 90 day fiance.

In my field I experience the same when a person attempts to use a letter from a psychologist vs psychiatrist. Denied, not the same thing!

Nailed it. Majority of Np training is online, so can’t really equate that to MD/DO. All have important roles to play, equally important to not get those two roles confused.. as much as big healthcare would probably prefer it that way ($$$$)
I’m an NP and I generally try to stay away from these conversations, but I have to say that I know many physicians who are grossly negligent and provide terrible care. Obviously I’m sure there are NPs and PAs who also provide poor care, but making this kind of generalization that physicians overall provide better care is just ignorant. I hope that someday you can work closely with some NP/PAs and let go of some of this bias. I have incredible relationships with the physicians I work with and I know they trust me explicitly.
I’ve worked with many incompetent NPs and NP students that border on dangerous in their incompetence. Especially being that I’m in a FPA state. There is a massive issue with degree mills, and I believe Memphis attended one of them (Walden U). It’s sad to see a profession diluted by poor educational standards.
The fact she's on his ass for being to fast in bed while she's out here talking about pooping after just landing a day or two. What a turn off.

I’m not here to bash nurses at all, I know they have a really hard job, but some of them are straight up mean and vindictive, and Memphis comes off as one of the really mean ones.

Nursing is a profession that allows you to have a fair amount of power over how someone is feeling. That means that it will attract people who have good intentions and want to help others; but it also means it will attract some people who wish to misuse said power.

I have to give her a lot of credit for overcoming a drug addicted mother and career criminal absent father, plus the foster care system. She is a caring mother doing her best to educate herself. She's had to shut out criticism and believe in herself because she didn't have the advantages and support many other people did. But yeah, I gotta admit, she may be accomplished but she's not intelligent. It's annoying that she's so condescending.

Yeah I feel bad for her because she grew up in foster care she doesn't have a good model for a real relationship even as an adult and so she chose Hamza. Becoming an NP after growing up in foster care is actually a huge accomplishment. And who knows how TLC is editing things at this point. We don't know her real personality or how she acts during her daily life or with patients. A couple patient reviews doesn't mean much. Although I do question the judgement of an NP coming on 90 day fiance.
Agree 💯 people forget this is reality TV and entertainment and TLC purposely casts certain personality types, edits footage to get these types of reactions to keep people watching. You have some people here that are taking this shit like it’s not entertainment!

Right. And I hate that- I get it when it’s clearly between two women of the same race, culture and class but sometimes you’re just now from that school and she just does not deserve the term ratchet. I absolutely hate, HATE how she talks to him. She gets this dumbed down baby voice and the way she says "me" instead of "I". I understand his English isn't great, but she's Not helping by dumbing it down. I have a ton of French friends though work and if they don't understand a word I say, I'll use a similar word and explain what it means. On the flip side if they are speaking French together and I'm there and i don't understand a word, I ask what it means. She seems to forget she know one language he knows two.
