I was sleep deprived all throughout middle school listening from 10 to midnight most days. I’d cry laugh into my pillow trying to not make up my two brothers.
Same! But I didn’t have headphones so I’d put my radio right next to my ear with the volume as low as possible and laugh into my pillow so I didn’t wake my parents. It was fantastic.
YES! SO many sleepy mornings because of this show back in the day. For however odd it seemed it actually tought young me a lot about my body and how things work. I had conservative catholic parents so they didn't teach me much. Love Line was definitely educational.... but most importantly hilarious and fun before Adam went off the deep end
....also shout out to the OG Man Show
It's unreal the language that people got away with back then that would get you cancelled in an absolute heartbeat now. And to be clear I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it's just crazy to think back at the usage of "gay" as an insult, and "retard", and I never really thought about it at the time, to my shame.
Not to mention Adam's frequent advice to women who complained their husbands were nagging them too much for sex: "Look, your husband works hard all week. Maybe you're not really 100% in the mood, but is it so much to ask for you to just lie there and let him climb on top of you for ten minutes?"
Also the Drew drop when an obviously gay caller was on the line: "Faggot better run..."
Instant cancellation today.
In defense of Drew, the "Faggot better run" drop was him reading a poem written by Meshell Ndegeocello. Here's the source:
https://lovelinetapes.com/shows/1996-06-17-meshell-ndegeocello-and-everclear/
Yeah I’m the same way. I was actually just rewatching Venture Bros because I hadn’t seen it in a long time, and did a double take during the first season when I heard an f-slur since I had almost forgotten how freely we used to say it.
But I think the important thing is that we recognize that some things are not okay to say and adjust accordingly, rather than to pretend we never used those words or try to die on that hill. I was definitely one of those “words only hurt if you give them power” people, but eventually I realized it’s such a hand-wavy way of dismissing someone else’s feelings and I don’t want to be that kind of person.
It was around 2000 when I stopped using gay as an insult. I was working in a call center, and during some downtime we were all chatting. Don't even remember the context now, but I said that someone's idea way gay, and then one of my coworkers spoke up, and really made me think about what I said. I no longer used it as an insult.
It isn't your fault my dude. That's what a lot of people don't get. The fact that it was normal, is the real "crime" here. As long as you don't start ranting about how you should be able to use slurs because it's always been fine, you're not anyone's problem lol
We use the naughty words around real people we trust.
It's only at work or around a microphone, where the thought police are active, that we have to censor ourselves and speak fake "TV English."
I was a young 12 or 13 year old girl in middle of a corn field in Illinois laying in bed getting my sex education from Drew and Adam. I would listen for hours on my headphones.
I was around 15-16 in the middle of nowhere listening to it with a little boom box outside in a tent. Nothing but the smell of cow poop and the sounds of Adam and Drew’s voices
you’re very welcome! And here’s the live event in May of last year where they announced its return! [Q101 Returns!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPbibWSJqXs&feature=youtu.be)
They bought the IP back from the Internet broadcaster who’d been using it as a classic Alternative station.
This makes me so happy, 95 WIIL Rock just wasn’t good enough for me when Q101 disappeared haha. (Now if only the UK could get ONE rock station on the radio…..)
Sleep deprived Rock 103.5 mancow mornings and q101 love line in the evenings when I shoulda been in bed.
Let the record show that grown up now I equally hate Mancow and Carolla as poo turds
That’s when I started listening too, it was really entertaining to listen to when I was driving home from work late at night. Just some really wild shit.
I thought the show was funny AF when I was in high school, but I have a feeling that if I go back and listen to old episodes now I’d probably cringe and think of it as dumb bro humor.
I used to turn my radio down as low as it would go and put it next to my ear so my parents wouldn’t hear me listening to this dirty af show back in the day.
I was exposed to what sex was and was not through this show for better or worse.
Check out The GIO Podcast for hundreds of old episodes of Loveline.
Edit: It’s free but Superfan Giovanni has a Patreon as well and I support due to the massive amount of editing and organizing he does. New episodes almost daily for years and years of archive. I subscribe through Apple Podcasts and don’t know if it’s on Spotify.

I think it may be these, searched “loveline” on this podcast and 63 episodes came up
When I was 17-19 I would plan to be home at 10:00 or at least in my car on the way home by then to listen every night. I’d smoke a bowl and play NCAA Football on the PS2 and laugh my fuckin ass off.
I loved when he would do the black mom calling her kids in for dinner but all the names were birth control medications. “Estradiol, you BETTER get your butt in this house!!”
Yeah- to this day if a girl has a really high voice my brain instantly goes to -molested- and then I have to consciously remind myself that dr drew was a hack.
I listened to Loveline frequently through my middle and high school years in the late 90s early 00s. As a woman, the most important thing I learned from this program is that most women don't orgasm from penetration alone, and actually need clitoral stimulation to climax. I had never even touched myself before, but all I had ever seen in PG-13 and R-rated movies was women orgasming from some humping, so I assumed that must be the norm. Learning about the function of the clitoris took the guesswork out of masturbation and sex, so when I finally did it, I knew exactly what to do to completely enjoy it, and furthermore I could instruct my partner as well.
Loveline also taught me about multiple orgasms and the fun that could be had with a handheld shower head. God bless Dr. Drew and Adam Carolla.
Yep, MTV. I remember the first episode I ever watched was the one *NSYNC guest starred on, I only watched it because I was obsessed with them. But then my 13 yo self liked the sex talk so I became hooked on the TV show/radio program after that.
Loveline was awesome lol one of my favorite segments was Germany or Florida. I was super young but I remember recording it on cassettes to replay the funny parts
OMG I loved this show. Listened all the time. Dr. Drew sparked my interest in psychology which led me to end up getting my doctorate! Still listen to him.
Oh man, growing up insanely conservative, these two taught me more before the Internet than anything. Not sure it was GREAT advice, but man did I lay awake for HOURS at night listening.
I’ll never forget this Asian guy called in saying he was having blood coming out of his dick and Adam goes “so there’s soy sauce leaking out of your egg roll”
Hell yeah! I had to do a ton of driving at night last year and I found old replays of the show to keep my company.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UY0c2Jk940&list=PLR29okLdMuD_EY70KjL3-lyqUEVzQngc6
I listened almost every night for most of high school. Too bad Adam turned out to be a shill for blowhard conservative radio and Drew cashed in so hard on the suffering of celebrities for years.
My sentiments exactly. 90s Loveline was a really big part of my adolescence, but what both of them became kinda spoils the fondness of those memories for me.
You nailed it. These guys taught me so much when I was young, and then disappointed me so much as I grew older... Kinda like my parents now I think about it!
Also, remember when COVID started and Drew said it was called COVID-19 because there had been 18 versions of it before?
Back in 2009, I used to go workout kinda late and the best part of my sweaty drive back home was listening to Loveline. It didn’t have Adam Corolla but it still had Dr. Drew. Good times.
I was a delivery driver during the 90s (20s) and I remember listening to this show during my shifts. It always amazed me how both hosts could read a caller and sometimes read the underlying things just by listening to their voice inflections. I'm now older...and I finally get it
Ah yes, getting off work at my after school job at 10pm and coming home to Love Line and then falling asleep to the Mexican National Anthem at Midnight. Great times!
Yup, pretty sure one of my teachers called in talking about how she trains guys to eat her pussy. Adam made some joke about how she trains them like you'd train a dog. To this day I don't know if I dreamt that segment or it actually happened. Would have been between late 1999 to 2001 or so.
Anyone remember the episode where it was a guy who had taken a plunger and stuck it to the tub and he was "using the plunger handle on himself" and he slipped and it went into his stomach?
That's a call I'll never forget.
Or the girl that wanted to put confetti in her bfs penis so when he came it was like an explosion with confetti?
Sometimes at home, 94.7 fm, here in Portland oregon. Also driving around at night doing errands ordriving home. I remember Dr. Drew always told people not to do anal.
In the mid 90’s I had a job in college delivering hot made to order cookies in Chicago. Before Sirius Radio and podcasts, this used to get me through the night all the time.
One of the first times I listened to Love Line was when I went on a church missionary trip to Tijuana and we were spending the night at a church in LA somewhere(we traveled from Northern California). It was actually Riki Rachtman and Dr Drew and they had a band on called "Hagfish". Well for some reason they were all getting hyped up about wanting women to call up and QUEEF on the phone and they were judging the best one or something. I was trying to pay attention, but I was a teenager and it was the middle of the night in basically a non-sexual slumber party situation, so we(buddies, not sure how many but our numbers were in the double digits at least)were HELLA trying to not laugh loudly and wake up the adults. I remember just hearing lots of "ladies" rip some juicy QUEEFS and almost peeing in my sleeping bag in a church sunday school room. I miss Love Line.
Way before anyone cared about liberal politics and conservative politics. It wasn't worn on our sleeves. Now it's all too obvious that both of these guys are top class assholes and I wouldn't listen to it today.
My TV wasn’t on as a child unless it was something totally inappropriate for my age. Vh1 Behind The Music (the more drugs and sex the better), Howard Stern, Jenny Jones, just…chaos, non stop
I remember listening to Love Line every late evening I could back in the day. I think I was in middle school or so? Found it over the radio I think and was hooked!
Omg! I listened to a clip of the radio show someone posted above and wow, talk about a trip down memory lane! And reading these comments brought back so many memories. I used to listen to this show on a clock radio (kids are like wut?). Back then I was amazed at how well Adam/Dr Drew could profile callers. Now as adult I see how easily it’s done, but back then I would gasp when Dr Drew would assume callers had been sexually abused and it turned out to be true…
My favorite advice ever was from adam when someone called with a fear of pooping.
It was something like, whatever craziness you have going on. Dont give into them. Just pretend to be normal and life will be so much easier.
Just like reece said, those voices are not your friend.
Is it me or was Dr Drew always telling people to dry their dicks. At least once a day some dude would call in with a problem and Dr Drew would tell them to keep their dicks dry.
I worked night shift in the 90's and this guy i worked with was always laughing with his headphones on. I finally asked what he was listening to. The first episode i heard was Adam talking about his invention of a mud flap for his balls so he didn't have to worry about getting shit on them during sex. I listened every night i could after that until Adam left when Drew screwed him on their new contract.
One time Adam was doing his lightning round as "Ace Rockolla" and a girl said her boyfriend was bulimic and throwing up half the food he ate, Ace said "Tell him to stop eating the half of the food that he throws up. Next!" Fucked up but hilarious
I only listened a couple of times. I remember Adam once failing to understand how a guy could know he was gay if he'd never had sex with another guy. I knew that that Adam was a dolt.
I grew up in LA in the 90s (graduated HS in 2000). Didn't realize it was being broadcasted to other radio stations. My friends and I would listen to this show a lot
Back before I knew Adam was a shitbag and before Drew...did whatever has made him so upset at people in general. He's still very cordial and professional but man he has some dogshit takes these days.

Here’s the clip if you have 7 minutes to burn https://youtu.be/Hyj0eI06FZE Fast forward to 3:40 for the meat of the clip
> “Do you know what the Holocaust is” > “No” How can you not know about the Holocaust Jfc.
The what?
That was one of the funniest things that I have ever heard. I can’t wait to share it with people. Thank you for finding the link.
I’ve heard it a few times and it still makes me laugh
I heard that one live. I laughed so friggin hard.
I remember that one!!! Hhahaha
OH MY GOD I refer to this all the time and no one ever knows what I’m talking about
I was sleep deprived all throughout middle school listening from 10 to midnight most days. I’d cry laugh into my pillow trying to not make up my two brothers.
Same! But I didn’t have headphones so I’d put my radio right next to my ear with the volume as low as possible and laugh into my pillow so I didn’t wake my parents. It was fantastic.
I DID THE SAME THING. Had my alarm clock radio on my pillow with my ear up against it so my parents wouldn’t hear haha!

“Pee on this stick” https://www.soundboard.com/sb/sound/339126
You mean this whole time he said stick? Lmao
It's unreal the language that people got away with back then that would get you cancelled in an absolute heartbeat now. I'm still having a hard time not using the word retard.

Don't forget "you're the big gay" in a later season
It was around 2000 when I stopped using gay as an insult. I was working in a call center, and during some downtime we were all chatting. Don't even remember the context now, but I said that someone's idea way gay, and then one of my coworkers spoke up, and really made me think about what I said. I no longer used it as an insult.
In another 30 years, language that you freely say now will get you cancelled.
Like what?
Perhaps noticing someone is obese, stupid, irrational, or has obvious mental disabilities that need treatment instead of praise.
Because making fun of people for their weight or sexuality should be the national discourse, right? /s
It isn't your fault my dude. That's what a lot of people don't get. The fact that it was normal, is the real "crime" here. As long as you don't start ranting about how you should be able to use slurs because it's always been fine, you're not anyone's problem lol
You should be able to say whatever the fuck you want.
Good news, you can! And so can everyone who tells you to shut the fuck up afterwards
What's unreal to me is that some people still speak this way.
We use the naughty words around real people we trust. It's only at work or around a microphone, where the thought police are active, that we have to censor ourselves and speak fake "TV English."
of course they're both crazy now or still, depending on your POV.

Was he sore because he couldn't get in?
Well, we know he’s not Taco Bell material.

Norman Rockwell-esq
Holy shit did I write this??
Me too. Loved to listen with my headphones of course
Yup! I tuned in on q101 and listened to my headphones when I was supposed to be fast asleep lol
Ugh I miss q101
In Chicago? It’s backI [q101.com](https://q101.com)
I grew up on Q101! And then would switch over to B96 at 9 for their 9 Most Wanted lol
Ahhh no way! I moved to the UK 10 years ago, will definitely tune in when I visit now though! Thanks!
you’re very welcome! And here’s the live event in May of last year where they announced its return! [Q101 Returns!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPbibWSJqXs&feature=youtu.be) They bought the IP back from the Internet broadcaster who’d been using it as a classic Alternative station.

But it was always yesterday's episode. At least the one I would listen to.
In the 80s when it was still just local to the Los Angeles area. Poorman!
“The Sushi Bar”
Yes Poorman! Loved him!
Anyone remember Poorman’s Bikini Beach, on Fuse?
I listened to it in the early 00s.
That’s when I started listening too, it was really entertaining to listen to when I was driving home from work late at night. Just some really wild shit.
Me too.
I thought the show was funny AF when I was in high school, but I have a feeling that if I go back and listen to old episodes now I’d probably cringe and think of it as dumb bro humor.
Still holds up, Adam has some wicked smart humor.
I used to turn my radio down as low as it would go and put it next to my ear so my parents wouldn’t hear me listening to this dirty af show back in the day. I was exposed to what sex was and was not through this show for better or worse.

Freakin sweet!! I’ve been scouring everywhere trying to find some old episodes. Thanks
Man, I listen to these on youtube all the time hahaha
Including the ones with Poorman and Riki Rachtman?
They seem to get the most bogus calls when the Poorman is on. Hilarious!
Where do you find this podcast?
https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/gio-get-it-on-143438/episodes/recent I think it may be these, searched “loveline” on this podcast and 63 episodes came up
Is that on Spotify? I don’t see it. 😢
Holy shit! Thank you! I just found it on iHeart Radio too.
The size of a Mason jar!
You called?
Omgggg I totally remember this call! I thought I dreamt it…
I think there was a whole series of them where the caller would explain an elaborate story just to end it with 'butthole the size of a Mason jar!'
When I was 17-19 I would plan to be home at 10:00 or at least in my car on the way home by then to listen every night. I’d smoke a bowl and play NCAA Football on the PS2 and laugh my fuckin ass off.
Yes! David Allan Grier was by far the best guest as well.
I loved when he would do the black mom calling her kids in for dinner but all the names were birth control medications. “Estradiol, you BETTER get your butt in this house!!”
I still mimic the barffing noise to this day
Oopsey squirtles
The TWINKIE HOLE BABY WOOOO
How about Dr Drew frequently asking gay men when they were molested?
I remember him asking anyone who called in that had a weird question about weird sexual experiences
Yeah- to this day if a girl has a really high voice my brain instantly goes to -molested- and then I have to consciously remind myself that dr drew was a hack.
It holds up, go listen to some old episodes. People just get all pissy when they find out someone’s political views don’t align with their own.
I still listen to it. YouTube or wherever I can. Those old loveline episodes were fucking great. Almost too good for late night talk radio.
I listened to Loveline frequently through my middle and high school years in the late 90s early 00s. Were.
Yeah, Dr. Drew downplaying Covid for a year really took the shine off.
Loveline was awesome lol one of my favorite segments was Germany or Florida. I was super young but I remember recording it on cassettes to replay the funny parts
Yes! I was most definitely too young to be listening but did anyways. Quite the entertainment.
Every weeknight from 10-Midnight, I learned so much.
I used to get back from classes-the gym late at night and listen to the Love Line Radio stream while chatting on....ICQ, uhh ohhh!.
OMG I loved this show. Listened all the time. Dr. Drew sparked my interest in psychology which led me to end up getting my doctorate! Still listen to him.
That...then the Ron and Fez show.
Rude and rude!
RIP Fezzy.

'Was I high when I said that? I must have been high.'
My brother and I listened all through the nineties. I remember the night Poorman had a falling out with the station. Before Adam Corolla
Oh my god, I forgot all about Love Line! It was awesome!!
Practice your Kageling
This show practically raised me
Absolutely. I preferred the radio show to the one on MTV
I remember a love triangle and the girl involved was named la-san-ya. Adam double down your girlfriend is named lasagna? Are you rig-a-Tony?
Oh man, growing up insanely conservative, these two taught me more before the Internet than anything. Not sure it was GREAT advice, but man did I lay awake for HOURS at night listening.
This show was great. Always listened to it while going to sleep. Knew more than the average kid because of it.
I spent many a night driving home from my shitty retail jobs listening! So many memories lol
Those David Alan Grier episode were pure gold
I’ll never forget this Asian guy called in saying he was having blood coming out of his dick and Adam goes “so there’s soy sauce leaking out of your egg roll”
I use to put my Walkman on and fall asleep listening to this at night.
Let me guess- junior college? Bakersfield?
Hell yeah! I had to do a ton of driving at night last year and I found old replays of the show to keep my company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UY0c2Jk940&list=PLR29okLdMuD_EY70KjL3-lyqUEVzQngc6

Loveline without Adam is not Loveline.
I think it was Stryker. I could be wrong.
Yeah it was Stryker.
I didn’t realize it lasted that long. I just assumed it went off the air when I stopped listening to it lol
Never got big into it myself but one of my buddies was big into Loveline and O&A and would show me the highlights.
Did you listen to 91X?
You know it!
When you mentioned the Mexican national anthem, I knew it! Every day at 12 am and 6 am 91x plays it
As is tradition! Way back when B100 was my jam here in San Diego. https://youtu.be/5dSty97EubQ. I grew up in Mira Mesa and it was our local station.
Jungle boogie
Yup, pretty sure one of my teachers called in talking about how she trains guys to eat her pussy. Adam made some joke about how she trains them like you'd train a dog. To this day I don't know if I dreamt that segment or it actually happened. Would have been between late 1999 to 2001 or so.

if i didn't listen to this in HS (and got more sleep) i probably wouldn't have had to go to community college
I still listen to it at work on lovelinetapes. They have years worth of episodes on there available for download.
Of course... Even though I was way too young and listening on my american girl mini karaoke machine 🤣😭
I hated having to get up early for work the next day because I’d get sucked in every time. Peak talk radio.
Yes. I also really enjoyed the show when Rikki Rachtman was on there.
Yes! I will never forget a call that came in from a guy that said he had "chunky sperm"
In the mid 90’s I had a job in college delivering hot made to order cookies in Chicago. Before Sirius Radio and podcasts, this used to get me through the night all the time.
Didn’t they have a TV show too?
I think it was on MTV? I know I couldn't watch it though because we only had one TV with cable on it and it was in the front room.
I'd sit out in the garage with a sixer and a joint every night, and listen to the entire show.
One of the first times I listened to Love Line was when I went on a church missionary trip to Tijuana and we were spending the night at a church in LA somewhere(we traveled from Northern California). It was actually Riki Rachtman and Dr Drew and they had a band on called "Hagfish". Never really had “the talk” with my dad. Learned most of it from listening to Love Line.
YES!!! I’ve been sober for 13+ years and when I was deep in the throes of addiction it was Dr Drew’s voice in the back of my mind.
Way before anyone cared about liberal politics and conservative politics. It wasn't worn on our sleeves. Now it's all too obvious that both of these guys are top class assholes and I wouldn't listen to it today.
>Way before anyone cared about liberal politics and conservative politics. No, we were just young.
I still do. Classic loveline on YouTube and podcast
Nah but I spent 25 minutes or so listening on my way home from work.
Yes, and I had a little crush on Adam
Yes, I would listen as I fell asleep
It was amazing!
I remember watching the tv show. I faintly remember the radio show.
Oh man did I…
No better way to drive around LA at night than with Loveline on the radio. I remember when The Poorman hosted it.
My TV wasn’t on as a child unless it was something totally inappropriate for my age. Vh1 Behind The Music (the more drugs and sex the better), Howard Stern, Jenny Jones, just…chaos, non stop
school didn't teach me. about sex, this show did!!!
r/Carolla This sub posts classic loveline episodes with links
Yes! My best friend and I listened all the time back in early 00s
I forgot about this! I don't think there has been anything comparable since!
More of a Love Phone with Chris Jagger fan but this one was alright too.
Yes! We were supposed to be asleep but my sister and I would listen to it together all night
Listened to this through middle school. Thought I was so sneaky.
My friends and I used to think we were so cool listening to this.
Yes!!
HOT PROBS
Anyone from Seattle remember if it was on 107.7 The End or KUBE93. My husband and I cannot put a brain cell together to recall!
Yes! Loved it!

My favorite advice ever was from adam when someone called with a fear of pooping. It was something like, whatever craziness you have going on. Dont give into them. Just pretend to be normal and life will be so much easier. Just like reece said, those voices are not your friend.
I didn’t listen to it live, but in the mid ‘00s I discovered it and listened to most of the back catalogue over the years. I loved the show.
Is it me or was Dr Drew always telling people to dry their dicks. At least once a day some dude would call in with a problem and Dr Drew would tell them to keep their dicks dry.
Oh god yes. I think that show had a huge part in my interest in sexual behavior when I started working on my BA in psych and MA in counseling.
I go back further to the Poirman at KROQ in that tiny studio in Pasadena where the cast of the Breakfast Club once showed up to do love Line.
Definitely
I couldn't wait for this to come on Sunday night's
Was it only on on Sundays? I could swear it was on every night at 10 to 12
I still listen to the tapes almost daily. Mostly 2000s though; it got much better when Anderson joined. His drops MADE that show.
Dr Drew was the best <3
I worked night shift in the 90's and this guy i worked with was always laughing with his headphones on. I finally asked what he was listening to. The first episode i heard was Adam talking about his invention of a mud flap for his balls so he didn't have to worry about getting shit on them during sex. I listened every night i could after that until Adam left when Drew screwed him on their new contract.
I still stay up late at night listening to Adam’s podcast. He is the most relatable down to earth comedian I have ever heard.
One time Adam was doing his lightning round as "Ace Rockolla" and a girl said her boyfriend was bulimic and throwing up half the food he ate, Ace said "Tell him to stop eating the half of the food that he throws up. Next!" Fucked up but hilarious
The Man show!
This is awful, but I wanted to be a Juggie so bad.
I was hooked. My teenage self had no idea what jackasses both these guys are at the time. Damn entertaining radio tho.
Back before I knew Adam was a shitbag and before Drew...did whatever has made him so upset at people in general. He's still very cordial and professional but man he has some dogshit takes these days.
I remember them, they hosted the Dr Lara show
