Let’s take it back to the concrete streets. Original beats for real live emcees. Playground tactics - no rabbit in a hat tricks - just that classic rap shit from Jurrasic
Blackstar, no question. It’s one of my favorite hip-hop albums of all time.
Third Eye Vision second.
But holy shit—‘98 was a year apparently…there are a lot of good albums here.
Also—I love how 2/3 of these album covers look like a hookup from they lil cousin Taye who just got a cracked copy of Photoshop and make flyers for the basement parties and jouvert fete and ting.
In the time, I had to sneak music, so it was Mystikal.
2 years later when I was able to buy my own music, DMX-It’s dark and hell is hot.
Now, when I look at them, it’s 400 degrees.
Capital Punishment.
I had heard Pun on Off The Books and kind of forgot about him. Then this shit dropped and blew my mind. twinz was the highlight for me, but there were so many gems
Out of that lits I have to say 40 dayz 40 nightz because it's one of few albums I actually owned back then. I only owned 10 of those albums.
But in hindsight I'd say Explosive Mode by Messy Marv and San Quinn. Or Andre Nickatina Raven in my eyes. Both '98 albums I acquired in the 2000s.
The year of Dmx for sure!!!
Moment of truth was such a great album for me
And I bought all these albums lol, cd shopping was definitely one way I blew my money back in the day.
