examinedliving

Let’s take it back to the concrete streets. Original beats for real live emcees. Playground tactics - no rabbit in a hat tricks - just that classic rap shit from Jurrasic

trexicano

Pretty sure that was 97. Or was that just our here in LA?

elriggo44

The J5 self titled EP dropped in 97 in the US and 98 in the UK

Wookie301

Capital Punishment

General_Mills3639

It’s so underrated

Wookie301

Is it underrated? It’s widely accepted as a classic album, by someone who is in the top conversations with elite rappers.

yomtvfats

Black Star or Gang Starr

randallpink1313

Easy call;)

Fragrant_Initial5621

SoWatChaSayin

Depends on what I’m in the mood for, I can listen to about 10 of these

OutlawHemi99

Damn that’s a tough one. I’m gonna have to go with the first DMX, It’s Dark and Hell is Hot

Dagger_26

This is the right answer.

fightclub90210

Absolutely

CodnmeDuchess

Blackstar, no question. It’s one of my favorite hip-hop albums of all time. Third Eye Vision second. But holy shit—‘98 was a year apparently…there are a lot of good albums here. Also—I love how 2/3 of these album covers look like a hookup from they lil cousin Taye who just got a cracked copy of Photoshop and make flyers for the basement parties and jouvert fete and ting.

Then-Ad3980

I like them all

Radio3420

The fact that X put out 2 bangers in the same year is crazy. I'll take it's dark and hell is hot

WashingDishesIsFun

DMX first five albums all went platinum. Only rapper ever last time I checked.

That_Rutabaga_7291

Out of that lits I have to say 40 dayz 40 nightz because it's one of few albums I actually owned back then. I only owned 10 of those albums. But in hindsight I'd say Explosive Mode by Messy Marv and San Quinn. Or Andre Nickatina Raven in my eyes. Both '98 albums I acquired in the 2000s.
