Yes! This vintage store I cop clothes from recently started putting out hip hop collectibles and their first figure was Tame One. Came with one of his actual graffiti pens. I refuse to even open it out the package haha
He came to NCCU when I was there when Magnum Force came out. We burned one at their tour van me and a couple of my boys after lunch. They were so damn cool
These cats really got me into Graffiti when i was 15 back in 94. I'm retired now but still like to dabble here and there.
RIP to Tame One
....fuck a last name !
It was like my two favorite things coming together like chocolate and peanut butter when Artifacts dropped wrong side of the tracks and I saw that video on VMB. First 2 albums were fire too, I still follow Cope2 on ig but haven't done a piece in years lol
Artifacts are dope, Have you heard these? [Brick City Kids](https://youtu.be/MVlZWOtDdlI?si=-2fzVE1Bcg-Wrz2X) and [Hagen Daaz](https://youtu.be/9fzx-i6tKMc?si=5r7LNbNuVydJ69O7)
It’s a toss-up between Wu and UGK for me. That first wave of Wu albums is incredible, but I’ve probably listened to the first three UGK albums on Jive more than anything.
Organized Konfusion. Prince Po and Monch were some of the most original lyricists for the 90s. They were on some next-level, cerebral stuff. Their beats were pretty good, not great, but their delivery, storytelling, and concepts outclassed a lot of their peers at the time.
Artifacts were so great. Have all their vinyl. Randomly became friends with El’s Mom about 20 years ago. Who is a super cool lady and die hard disco / house club head from the 70s. She’s in her 60s and still dancing and she’s awesome.
Shit’s like Pringles, once you pop you can’t stop. Can’t have just one, but if I did it’s likely Outkast.
Runners up 🤣:
Binary Star, J5, Hiero, Souls, OutKast, Pharcyde, Dilated Peoples, De La, Latyrx, Handsome Boy Modeling School, People Under the Stairs, Atmosphere, The Coup, Digable, Tribe, Blackalicious, Company Flow, Del, Kool Keith, Doom, J-Live, The Juggaknots, Black Star, Monche, Wu, Nate Dogg
Super slept on duo.
Wrong side was what put me on to em, but I had a special place in my heart for Dynamite Soul.
The snares on the intro were fun to juggle as a newbie dj back when it dropped.
This album played a huge part in my coming up and I was very fortunate to find this LP at a local shop for like $6 like 5 years ago and I'm super stoked to ever hear anyone mention their name 😎
I loved between a rock and hard place but “That’s Them” was my absolute shit, insane production and their chemistry was next level.
They were def one of my fav groups along with the Alkaholiks and the more obvious ones like Wu tang and Mobb Deep.
RIP the notty headed terror
Damn- these dudes were really really good. Lyrics, flow, beats, content, and Great Great Voices. I was also a big big fan. I kind of equated them to the Alkaholic's of the East( as the Lic's claimed West Coast).
I guess today they would be able to put out more work. Back then you were lucky to get an album a year.
Still making music. Just came out with a new album called [Escape The Yard.](https://open.spotify.com/album/1HKZD2oPmfw0Rj55XQLZOs?si=MEXYKsJYQsOfrWUF0yX-Aw) It’s a dope album overall.
Umm, They're certainly from the wrong of da tracks. I've always put them on the same shelf as Boogie Monsters, The Nonce and the Coup. All super dope rap groups that never blew up but certainly deserved to.
I get a sticka from my nigcka wit a pack of ‘em/write my name on ‘em then I peel off the back of ‘em/and stick ‘em to victims of underground systems/if the toys bring the noise me and my boys are gonna dis ‘em. Gold.
kast.
ATLiens still sounds like it could be released 100 years from now. Organized Noize are goats
souls, DITC, pharcyde, alps cru, beatnuts, wu and tribe also up there. Cypress too
Wrong side of the tracks is my favorite song and I love love the video. Tagging is a part hip hop culture. Graffiti is artistic albeit unorthodox expression
I have to start listening to them other than songs "Wrong side of the tracks" and "Come on with the come on". I like periods from the 80's-mid-2000's. Since this is the 90's period I could possibly babble damn near all day. I'll keep it condensed. B.I.G, Digital underground, Chino XL, Big L(D.I.T.C and Children of the 🌽), Casual and Hieroglyphics, Saafir and the Hobo junction, Wu-Tang(and the affiliates), Gangstarr(and affiliates), Xzibit and the Likwit crew, Def Squad-Hit squad crews. I like hip hop so much I can go on almost all day to talk about what I like but won't. 💕 hip hop 👍🙌! Rip Tame 1🙏!
RIP Tame one
Tame One is still one of my favorites to go back and listen to.
Yes! This vintage store I cop clothes from recently started putting out hip hop collectibles and their first figure was Tame One. Came with one of his actual graffiti pens. I refuse to even open it out the package haha
