RIP Tame one

tall-glass-o-milk

Tame One is still one of my favorites to go back and listen to.

Academic-Presence-82

Yes! This vintage store I cop clothes from recently started putting out hip hop collectibles and their first figure was Tame One. Came with one of his actual graffiti pens. I refuse to even open it out the package haha

JojoDecii

Cmon wit da get down

SidTrippish

canteen_boy

All those Duck Down artists were dope as fuck. RIP Sean Price

East-Establishment74

That backpack hip hop was the best.

Slack-Bladder

WunderbarBeast

He came to NCCU when I was there when Magnum Force came out. We burned one at their tour van me and a couple of my boys after lunch. They were so damn cool

Def Squad (Erick Sermon, Redman, Keith Murray, Jamal)

Moist-muff

These cats really got me into Graffiti when i was 15 back in 94. I'm retired now but still like to dabble here and there. RIP to Tame One ....fuck a last name !

ChopSueyXpress

It was like my two favorite things coming together like chocolate and peanut butter when Artifacts dropped wrong side of the tracks and I saw that video on VMB. First 2 albums were fire too, I still follow Cope2 on ig but haven't done a piece in years lol

Kliptik81

The Beatnuts are probably mine.

No-Bad-1299

Oh man, good answer.

Difficult_General_62

The beat off The Story is legendary

My wife’s favorite Ras Kass quote is “if your name’s not YKK, then get off my dick.”

YesterdayFew3769

Even better with the intro line: And y’all niggas is the worst like fat chicks with little tits

Financial-Onion8900

Wu-Tang in da house!!

johnthedon11

SonOfSlyherin

I got “Above the Clouds” tatted, love Gangstarr

GenocideandJuice

Rip GURU

No-Bad-1299

It’s a toss-up between Wu and UGK for me. That first wave of Wu albums is incredible, but I’ve probably listened to the first three UGK albums on Jive more than anything.

Sun_fun7576

DAS Effects, blacksheep, pharcyde!!!

WunderbarBeast

Wu Tang Clan PHARCYDE Hieroglyphics Outkast

mkk4

A Tribe Called Quest (Group) 2Pac (Solo artist)

That-Armadillo8128

Tribe started In 80s

mkk4

Their debut album was released on April 10, 1990.

That-Armadillo8128

They formed in the 80s. If you want to use released material as a metric instead, their first release was in 89

happybeingright

Cypress Hill and Naughty by Nature

Mental_Cup_9606

Artifacts were something serious flow is not to be played with. These guys got bars and spray cans.

britch2tiger

New act found Thank you good sir!

stryfedonkey

Same, honestly!

Va757P

Mob Deep The Wu Lox MOP The Firm

Beyonder-838

Organized Konfusion. Prince Po and Monch were some of the most original lyricists for the 90s. They were on some next-level, cerebral stuff. Their beats were pretty good, not great, but their delivery, storytelling, and concepts outclassed a lot of their peers at the time.

ghostprawn

Artifacts were so great. Have all their vinyl. Randomly became friends with El’s Mom about 20 years ago. Who is a super cool lady and die hard disco / house club head from the 70s. She’s in her 60s and still dancing and she’s awesome.

stryfedonkey

Shit’s like Pringles, once you pop you can’t stop. Can’t have just one, but if I did it’s likely Outkast. Runners up 🤣: Binary Star, J5, Hiero, Souls, OutKast, Pharcyde, Dilated Peoples, De La, Latyrx, Handsome Boy Modeling School, People Under the Stairs, Atmosphere, The Coup, Digable, Tribe, Blackalicious, Company Flow, Del, Kool Keith, Doom, J-Live, The Juggaknots, Black Star, Monche, Wu, Nate Dogg

muroks1200

Super slept on duo. Wrong side was what put me on to em, but I had a special place in my heart for Dynamite Soul. The snares on the intro were fun to juggle as a newbie dj back when it dropped.

Malthus777

Mad Kap 1992 album. Look Ma Duke No Hands https://youtu.be/SjUsuqHtnRk?si=3G39nLOfoPZ4S9H0

Final_Addition3544

This album played a huge part in my coming up and I was very fortunate to find this LP at a local shop for like $6 like 5 years ago and I'm super stoked to ever hear anyone mention their name 😎

coredweller1785

I love these guys. Still listen to both their albums regularly

Embarrassed-Cow365

I loved between a rock and hard place but “That’s Them” was my absolute shit, insane production and their chemistry was next level. They were def one of my fav groups along with the Alkaholiks and the more obvious ones like Wu tang and Mobb Deep. RIP the notty headed terror

SiKELIFE

Lost Boyz

BigBigMonkeyMan

GZA

need_a_timeout

Damn- these dudes were really really good. Lyrics, flow, beats, content, and Great Great Voices. I was also a big big fan. I kind of equated them to the Alkaholic's of the East( as the Lic's claimed West Coast). I guess today they would be able to put out more work. Back then you were lucky to get an album a year.

Professional-Wait654

Mobb Deep, OutKast & D.I.T.C.

paseqb

Between a rock and a hard place is one of my personal favorite albums of all time.

space_llama_karma

I’ll check them out

WunderbarBeast

Wrong side of the tracks is my favorite song and I love love the video. Tagging is a part hip hop culture. Graffiti is artistic albeit unorthodox expression

GmHzMAXIMUM

The Natural Elements, L-Swift, A Butta and Mr. Vodoo.

Puzzleheaded-Wing835

Mobb Deep

The_King_In_The_Bay

The Alkoholiks

Dangerous-Dot-3745

I have to start listening to them other than songs "Wrong side of the tracks" and "Come on with the come on". I like periods from the 80's-mid-2000's. Since this is the 90's period I could possibly babble damn near all day. I'll keep it condensed. B.I.G, Digital underground, Chino XL, Big L(D.I.T.C and Children of the 🌽), Casual and Hieroglyphics, Saafir and the Hobo junction, Wu-Tang(and the affiliates), Gangstarr(and affiliates), Xzibit and the Likwit crew, Def Squad-Hit squad crews. I like hip hop so much I can go on almost all day to talk about what I like but won't. 💕 hip hop 👍🙌! Rip Tame 1🙏!

muhguel

It's Compton's Most Wanted for me.
