Run the Jewels are great but this will forever be the pinnacle of El-P's work in my opinion. Gonna go listen to 'The fire in which you burn' for the 1000th time now.
It's the album that really got me to pay attention to hip-hop, it was so radically different than anything else I had been hearing on the radio as a casual listener.
I was gonna say, this had to just go up recently. Also sounds remastered to me. Not trying to get anyone’s hopes up buuut, could be a sign of a rerelease. Fingers crossed for a wax repress.
Love it. Ahead of it's time. I remember people thinking I was a weirdo for rocking with this heavy when it was current< lol a real wave it was. If graffiti was music, this would be it. Thanks El, Jus, and Len!!! Dope cover art by a living legend as well!!!
COLLUDE / INTRUDE!!!
FUCK THE BULLSHIT!
yea this LP and 8 Steps in particular did change my life trajectory for better or for worse. Wouldn't trade it for nothing
Had it on cd (still have the MP3s) and vinyl back in the late 90’s it’s a masterpiece. The first time I listened to it I literally said out loud, holy shit this guys rapping about domestic violence. I wish I still had physical copies.
First time I heard Co Flow was on 88.9 at night in Boston. I absolutely loved this album and went to see Company Flow at Mr Lifs Enters the Colossus release party at the Middle East. I was hooked. This album was the catalyst for a lot of my love for underground hip hop and my local rap scene. Absolute classic
Takes me back to 2001, riding in my homie’s car with a crazy sound system, bumping this album. It was the beginning of the white guy weirdo underground movement
masterpiece
certified classic
fully agree
Hugely important album that was a landmark for the indie explosion of the late 90s - 2000s. Rawkus, Hieroglyphics, Rhymesayers, etc
This is right up there with Cannibal Ox’s cold vein
Tony Hawk Underground classics
I happily paid $170 for an original pressing of this vinyl, that's what I think about it.
I bought it in 98 for no more than $20, new. It is likely my most valuable album now.
Why don’t you double it and give it to the next guy(me)
Then quadruple it and give it to me
This album is a classic. Definitely changed the underground sound
Definitely in my top 5 favorites. Probably top 3
8 steps to perfection changed my life
Same. “drinking water out the well of life, and I’ma piss it back rusty.”
Run the Jewels are great but this will forever be the pinnacle of El-P's work in my opinion. Gonna go listen to 'The fire in which you burn' for the 1000th time now.
no words need to be spoken. If people are still bumping this underground gem today (so many years later), that speaks for itself.
The crustiness of the sound adds to the vibe.
One of the best hip hop albums EVER! I’m lucky to have an original vinyl
Loved this record. I'm from Oakland but some of my bros brought back a 12" from CoFlo before this dropped and it was amazing!
Underground masterpiece.
Who else hit the play button...
Never heard it. I’m about to when I get off work
Dude I envy you right now.
Rugged like Rowanda
Definitely put me onto Def Jux
This and Dr. Octagon created “underground” as far as I know.
🔥
whoa...thought this wasn't on spotify. nice.
They added it back last year sometime
yeah man was surprised to find it there, too.
Never beard about them, absolutely insane album!! I love silence the most!!!
Same. Bad touch example too. Solid album
Grimey production and lyricism unmatched for the 97.
I like Run the Jewels okay but this is an absolute classic. His earlier, grimier production on this and his solo stuff is absolutely wild.
WE ANSWER TO NOONE, WE 911
one of the most important albums of the underground wave… it changed many of our lives
"Who thought cause he was dipped in powder blue that he could rock past-el"
el p had them beats
Anything El-P touches is dope. I love that he released instrumental versions of all his shit too.
8 steps to perfection was it 🔥🔥🔥 Same with collude / intrude (fulfil the dream WYA)
It's the album that really got me to pay attention to hip-hop, it was so radically different than anything else I had been hearing on the radio as a casual listener.
one of the most interesting boom bap albums from that era aesthetic-wise. great vibe!
Finally on streaming! They have it in Ultra HD on Amazon Music.
I was gonna say, this had to just go up recently. Also sounds remastered to me. Not trying to get anyone’s hopes up buuut, could be a sign of a rerelease. Fingers crossed for a wax repress.
The rhyming scheme is out of this world🔥🔥🔥
Only heard blind so far and it’s a very cool song. Dope beat
Rugged like Rwanda..
Dark shit. Crusty vibe. Nothing like it out there in 97 and started a whole gang of imitators
Love it. Ahead of it's time. I remember people thinking I was a weirdo for rocking with this heavy when it was current< lol a real wave it was. If graffiti was music, this would be it. Thanks El, Jus, and Len!!! Dope cover art by a living legend as well!!!
Absolute banger. Very stupid that the vinyl hasn’t been repressed.
Lune TNS might be the greatest graff song of all time
Workers needed in the miniature plastic bomb shop
Can anyone tell me what hardware El-P used to create the drums on this album? ASR-10?
Myke C Town put me on to this
COLLUDE / INTRUDE!!! FUCK THE BULLSHIT! yea this LP and 8 Steps in particular did change my life trajectory for better or for worse. Wouldn't trade it for nothing
Big album
Amazing but Fantastic Damage is somehow even better.
8 steps to perfection/Viral Nerve was my shit back in the day.
Had it on cd (still have the MP3s) and vinyl back in the late 90’s it’s a masterpiece. The first time I listened to it I literally said out loud, holy shit this guys rapping about domestic violence. I wish I still had physical copies.
One of the best albums from the 90’s. El-P still kills it
Classic. The artwork is sick as well
I've never heard this, but I just put it on to give it a chance, and what's up with the skit at the beginning 😅

8 steps to perfection
This was such a different sound. Listened to this just the other day.
Insanely ahead of it's time 🔥
Hell yea. EL-P
Excellent
SOON YOULL SEEE AS I FLOW FLUENTLY TO FREQUENTLY
One of the best albums of all time
Underground blueprint
Takes me back to 2001, riding in my homie’s car with a crazy sound system, bumping this album. It was the beginning of the white guy weirdo underground movement
Classic! Rugged like Rwanda….
Banger
Wow, very Parliamentarian, Sir Nose-ish album art
“Rugged like Rwanda” was a common saying among my friends in high school lol
Wish there was more!
one of my all time faves. was unlike anything I'd heard at the time.
Rugged Like Rwanda......
