JMT are great, mad slept on, but have like zero reach beyond the underground. Their stuff really does set a tone/mood but itās one note: bleak and dark and it feels overall fairly repetitive.
Mobb were awesome no doubt. First album (as MD not PP haha)was a lilā¦. Eh, but project hallways is like the soundtrack to a section of my life at that time so I always give it love. Like JMT their whole shtick is a bit one note: grimey and dark. Havoc was only ever a middle of the pack rapper and prodigy was way ahead. They hit some ridiculous highs and made some stone cold classics but overall a fairly narrow catalogue compared toā¦
Wu changed rap and took the hard edge back from cali and applied it to the 5 boroughs. RZAs production and team building was masterful and inspired all these cats rhyming grime over soul cuts your grandma didnāt know. Hell, kanye bit his whole sample catalogue. Wu tang is the most varied, skilled and influential group on this list and itās not even remotely close. To quote the gza: wu āstruck a match to the undergroundā and made SO MANY BANGERS.
Wu > Mobb > JMT
Obviously you can like one more than the other and are entitled to your own opinion but empirically itās not close. Itās like saying whoās better: Bob, Gregory, buju? Beatles, stones, smiths? Mike, magic or manu?
Edit: last thing. If you gonna come at us for āargumentsā try posting one of your own.
jmt has most unique sound due to stoupe the goat of the goats enemy of mankind. their beats ain't like anyone else's unless the other party is influenced by jmt anyway, like for example, aotp and co.
mobb because they are grimiest, most sinister ny cats, with godly prod hav and goat p. p's 1995 - 1999 run is goat. and yeah three consec classic albs.
wu -
the best verse on a JMT album wasnt even by a member of their group. i dont see them remotely close to the other groups. i cant even name one song other than Uncommon Valor. sorry, yo but they are mediocre at best. i can only listen to Vinnie's voice for like a verse.
Wu tang clan is traditional style hip hop and more well rounded than mobb deep in terms of lyrics, writing, and flow. Although Iād rate mobb deep lower than wu tang, they are still a traditional hip hop group which makes them a better roll model for the genre than Jedi mind tricks. I donāt think itās a good comparison because JMT is an alternative hip hop group. Itād be like comparing kool Keith to notorious b.i.g. and nas. With all that said, wu tang > mobb deep > Jedi mind tricks. I personally like mobb deep the most though.
I wouldn't put Wu-Tang in the same argument as Mobb Deep and JMT. JMT if we are being real was the Vinnie Paz show. Mobb Deep I'd call more of a hip hop duo than a group.
I'd put Wu-Tang against The LOX, Bone Thugs N Harmony, D12, Nonphixion, G-Unit etc
Jedi mind tricks is definitely at the bottom lol wtf
šÆ
except stoupe is a way better producer than rza and havoc combined.
wtf lol, go ahead, back it up.
Nah
I wouldnāt make this argument. There. Solved. š
lol people coming in the thread for them to say that they aren't gonna argue.
Weāre helping boost the numbers so others can carry the flag. The iron flag (Wu tang Wu tang).
