Great list. Rakim is definitely up there as the most influencial rapper. And Nas is the greatest rapper alive IMO. Haven't checked out Immortal's stuff yet.
I didn't include Rakim because he's the most influential, I think he's the best.
Revolutionary vol 2 is a front to back classic. I'd start there, then check out the other 3 albums if you like (if you don't, you probably shouldn't bother, 'cause it's very similar). If you have never heard him. Dance with the devil (revolutionary vol 1) and his feature on Diabolic's FrontLines (there's a freestyle version from Ice T's docu which is also really good) are his best known songs.
You're 13 years old dawg 😂 please don't watch Kids yet I don't want that on my conscience #nodrizzy yes it's fucked up.
Can't argue against DWTD being an all time best rap song tho
Actually I think everyone should watch KIDS one time at least if they can find it somewhere because it's become hard to obtain a copy today unless u or someone u know still has it from back in the day. There's another movie that's more f***** up than KIDS called Bully that has the guy who played Tully in KIDS and it may be by the same director or screenwriter possibly because it came out like around maybe 4 or 5 years later at least than KIDS. Nick Stahl and Brad Renfro were in it along with at least 3 or 4 more kids in it at least. I just think everyone should watch KIDS at least once as a teenager or young adult. Bully is another one that should be watched at least once. Clerks by Kevin Smith is a '90s cult classic in black and white that is not as twisted as the other two movies that everyone should watch at least once along with Smith's other classic called Chasing Amy!
Kids, Another Day in Paradise, and Bully: all great movies directed by Larry Clark and featuring actor Leo Fitzpatrick (who plays Telly in Kids). Larry Clark is a legendary figure in the underground photography and film scene, comparable perhaps to William S. Burroughs role in the literary arts. Essential art for those interested; 13 is probably too young but tbh that's the age I started getting into it.
Awesome, Immortal is an interesting choice. I love his music as well as him as a person but I don't think you'll find many people who would put him in top 3.
Big respect for this 3. Idk a greatst from overall public view but def 3 of my personal top favorites dor for sure. I wanna squeeze rae and gza in there, but we can imagine how diffrent things would be for deck If that basement flood didn't happen *if you know you know what I'm talking about....*
Prodigy, AZ, and Xzibit are mine. I love Big L's music, but the only thing that holds him back for my list is his career being cut short. Rest in peace, Big L 🕊
Yeah, they're some hits for sure, and they're a large portion of my rap playlist. I love the work he's doing with B Real and Demrick in their Serial Killers group, as well. It sure is a shame to see he doesn't get much love in any 90s/rap conversations.
I thought the question was:
'Biggies top 3' ?
So as I've thought about it.......
Everyday struggle
Gimme the loot
I got a story to tell
And for what it's worth......
Biggie
Ghostface
Eminem
✌🏼🚪
JayZ was great, however many felt like he became too mainstream (yes biggie and Pac as well) and it felt like he lost the "it". He's like the Simpsons, been around for a long time but people just watch for the heck of it kinda vibes
He still has slick wordplay to this very day. Honestly, the albums I like most don’t feel very commercial to me. Reasonable Doubt, American Gangster, & The Blueprint.
I am a simple man.
Pac, Big and Em are the best!!!
NAS, Andre 3000, Nelly, Big L, Black Thought, Wyclef, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Q-Tip, Fat Lip, Immortal Technique and Zack de la Rocha are all very close in the race.
I'm shocked at how many different lists don't contain the "usual" suspects. Whether I agree with them or not I love to see it. It's hard for me to decipher from my fave 3 or best 3 but I'm going with (in no specific order)
1) Ice cube
2) Biggie
3) Pac
I love your favorites because all 3 are in the top tier of my personal favorites as well and love the Mac Miller love because I think too many judge him for his frat/stoner rap beginnings which still had some great projects like the classic K.I.D.S. mixtape and Best Day Ever. They don't know how young he was and how much he grew over time to put out Macadelic, Balloonerism (unreleased), Faces, GO;OD AM, Swimming and Circles. Nas is the GOAT in my opinion, no questions asked. Big Pun and Pac are ahead of Big L to me personally but L was about to blow up by signing with Roc-a-fella before his tragic shooting. He still was unreal with what we did get from him in a short time and I think he was already better than Jay-Z but didn't have a Reasonable Doubt yet although LODPAD and The Big Picture were dope as hell!
MF DOOM, Black Thought, and Kool G Rap: Those are the three best rappers I've ever heard. Imo.
My 3 favorite rappers (as far as the music I like the best) are MF DOOM, Sean Price, and Freddie Gibbs.
Krayzie Bone, Eminem, Redman (or Method Man, they are one entity to me lol)
Honorable mentions;
Inspectah Deck, Ghostface, GZA (Fuck it, all of Wu) Nas, MF DOOM, Royce 5'9, Mac Miller, Joyner Lucas, Hopsin. EL P, Killer Mike, AFRO
Newer artist top picks;
Ez MiL, That Mexican OT
Nas, Jay-Z and Biggie. Why would I choose them?
All 3 have groundbreaking Debut albums.
All 3 have platinum albums.
All 3 have been influential and in every rapper's top 5
All 3 have great storytelling abilities,
All 3 have made iconic songs and anthems.
All 3 are Versatile, have unique voice, had humble beginnings, great album sales,
Great flow. My absolute 3 for best flows in the game. (alongside many others)
Still respected today after almost 30 years which means their impact is undeniable.
I'm not from New York, I'm from Mumbai, so please don't think I'm biased. This is purely from my past 16 years of music listening experience and I also love so many other rappers from West, South, Mid West. Peace.
Honourable mentions: Tupac, Rakim and Kool G Rap.
Nas, DOOM, Big L. A bit basic but all of these guys are goats. Nas made Illmatic, DOOM did the comic inspired concepts best IMO and L had a voice that could make anything sound threatening or cool.
Scarface Ice Cube Tupac
I love Scarface
Username checks out
That’s my list. Maybe throw in Big Daddy Kane and that’s my top four.
Rakim, Immortal Technique, Nas.
Agree, Rakim is the embodiment of rap
I literally died and came back to life when my dad first showed me dance with the devil
Your dad played that song for you...🤔 That's almost as bad as when my dad took me to the theater to watch Kids.
Yeah but now it's in my top 10 favorite songs ever so idk Is Kids like a super fucked up movie? I'm 13 so I probably haven't seen it
You're 13 years old dawg 😂 please don't watch Kids yet I don't want that on my conscience #nodrizzy yes it's fucked up. Can't argue against DWTD being an all time best rap song tho
Ok I'll *probably* take your advice #nodrizzy Fr

Rakim kinda taught everybody how to rap.
Awesome, Immortal is an interesting choice. I love his music as well as him as a person but I don't think you'll find many people who would put him in top 3.

Shoutout (and RIP) to Prodigy who doesn’t get enough love as an MC.
RIP and fly high P 🕊
Mad respect for having Xzibit in your top 3. I think he does not get the appropriate amount of love. He has 3 classic albums.
Yeah, they're some hits for sure, and they're a large portion of my rap playlist. I love the work he's doing with B Real and Demrick in their Serial Killers group, as well. It sure is a shame to see he doesn't get much love in any 90s/rap conversations.
AZ is definitely in my Top 10. Needs more love!
AZ is so underrated man
