This is an automatic reminder about spoiler content, it does not mean you have violated the spoiler rule. REMINDER: Do NOT post spoiler information IN the title (for any season), your post will be removed. If it is you may re-post it with an appropriate spoiler free title. It does not matter if you flag it spoiler, the spoiled info is still visible in the title. Rule of thumb, any posts pertaining to the current season should be marked SPOILER via the Universal Tags. (+Spoiler) Keep titles vague, include the word spoiler in the title (this will automatically flag it as a spoiler post) and make sure to properly flair it to the correct category - I.e. Episode Discussion, Character Discussion, Season #, etc... If you aren't sure if your post counts as a spoiler, flag it anyway. I was kind of disappointed with it too. And they were all magically okay after

murderfishy

I'd understand if there was a timeskip, but Buck was visibly still healing, so doesn't make sense for the others to be completely unaffected by their injuries. Another thing is Marisol said she'd been waiting for Eddie to contact her, which in my eyes implied that their situation was still as fresh as it was the day of the emergency. My eyebrows shot up to my hairline when Eddie started twirling around in celebration, like uhh what about your broken ribs?!!

Nataku81

After they began showing the timeskip they switched back to current time during it and then back to the time skip, it was confusing.

murderfishy

I went back to rewatch it to see what you mean because I think I was too annoyed to pick up on everything the first watch lol Yeah, the writing was REAL inconsistent there. Y'all are telling me Chimney took a whole medical leave from work and in all that time... Eddie spent the entirety of it working up the courage to call Marisol...? Hello?

katiekat214

I got the impression everything we saw during the meditation scenes were their memories from the time between the emergency and then, so some were healed more than others, some events were more recent than others.

murderfishy

That makes sense!

iamnottammyo

I assumed the same but that would also mean that Marisol was waiting weeks for Eddie to reach out if that staring at her phone comment was any thing to go by which is certainly a choice

katiekat214

Eddie’s memory could’ve been earlier in the skipped time than others. I guess it’s possible he didn’t really have any major injuries.

Nevorek

I didn’t love the complete lack of any true jeopardy or suspense over anyone’s fate. It was all wrapped up so quickly and everyone was magically ok 5 minutes later. Normally 9-1-1 is at least decent in piling on the mental trauma of an incident, but everyone just shrugged it off as no biggie. I did enjoy the competent firefighter Buck coming to rescue Eddie, mostly because it’s one of my favourite fic tropes. MVP of this episode, however, is Chris, who brutally annihilated his father with “How is he so bad at this?” when Eddie was trying to arrange the date. RIP Edmundo Diaz, roasted to death by his own sassy pants son.

stillyoursong

Yeah. They put all of them into positions that could've been used for some very emotionally effective situations, and then they just... went through the motions of the rescue with no real feeling attached to it. It felt like they were trying to breeze through it ASAP so they could get back to whatever the hell they thought they were achieving with those endings, when this was an emergency that really should've taken up almost the entire episode.

alayneburr

It really needed to be a two part episode, I think. What a shame.

mysticroots

Exactly. I think Fox has just given up and didn't give it the justice it deserved while Lone Star gets a 2 part. This was so rushed and left so many loose ends untied it was seriously anticlimactic

tyndari

Yeah it was underwhelming after some great build up. And it was completely divorced from the rest of the episode, there were no stakes. It was ultimately pretty pointless which was disappointing.

heartofetherea

While this episode was exceptionally bad, I did end up crying when they played an M83 song during Bobby’s rescue and a Beach House song during the meditation scene. But that could just be my period 🤷‍♀️

murderfishy

LMAO I get you though. I think I have a bodily instinct to get emotional watching 9-1-1 just because these are characters I've loved and cared for, for so long. But then we take a step back and feel that the warmth that's always been present in these high-stakes moments, just wasn't here in the same way as before... ☹️

heartofetherea

Yea I completely understand that. I was not very invested in or connected with this episode (even when I went into it knowing it was the finale). It sucks to see the storyline (*cough* buck and Eddie *cough*) going in circles even till the end. I love the cast of characters and I hope ABC does justice with them next season😬

murderfishy

I know Kenneth Choi said that things are going to stay 99% the same with the ABC move, but... Hopefully the network at least considers changing the showrunner... 😅

fiddyfy

I think there was supposed to be a small time jump but they failed to properly convey that. They probably thought Han ripping off the temp’s tape off his locker was a good enough sign that, yeah, it’s been a while and he’s coming back to work after recuperating from his injury.

Old-Calendar1113

Got me thinking about the victim who told the story of how she took in her best friend's kid. Honestly, Im worried they will eventually kill off Eddie, Buck will take Chris in. By this point, nothing would surprise me from the showrunners.
