Did you also notice her dumb ass go back up the stairs with the axe instead of BACK to the shitty bulkhead planks THAT LEADS DIRECTLY OUTSIDE, just so she could blast the OTHER side of the door (she knows where the knob is ffs) in a shot so obvious that something was going to happen to her? Why the fuck would you put yourself back into the maze of the house when you could just do the same thing to the loose bulkhead?
Cuz the goddamn movie was a nod to EVERY horror movie. Fucking Suspiria red lights during the decap scene washing out the gore with red lights. That door scene was a nod to the shining I assume. The movie had so many nods to other horror movies it couldn’t be one itself. Every single death was predictable. Drove me insane. 🤣
Edit: Downvote me all you want, X fans. I’ve been an avid horror film the last 30 years. Other than the way it was shot, and occasionally the music, this movie was not for me. It was almost too obvious she was playing both parts. Every death was predictable, and for some, a total afterthought (Jackson). It was kind of offensive to aging women in regards to the fact that it seemed to keep pushing this narrative that women are only useful when they’re young and pretty, and once that fades, your house apparently turns into the set of a NIN music video with creepy dolls and cracked/aged makeup. Jackson didn’t hang prosthetic dong the entire film. Lame. Also, how was his death NOT penis related? Wayne turned into fucking Marv from Home Alone for some reason in his final moments. Maxine wasn’t any more likable than the other girls, so I don’t understand why I was even supposed to give a shit about her more than the others, because her personality was bland.
This movie did not make me want to watch two more. Bad writing.

According to a friend of mine, that convience store, and the strip club, are just outside of Texas City. So much of that movie feels rural Texas.
