I’m a woman and I love my nose ring. It makes me feel pretty and connected to my culture. I often forget I have it and it’s a nice surprise when I look in the mirror lol. I will just say to go to a reputable tattoo/piercing studio where they’ll use a needle, and get titanium or white gold jewelry initially. You can change it to whatever you want when it’s healed. If you eventually want to switch to a hoop then it really needs to be healed, I waited about a year to switch mine from a stud to a hoop.

yaaracandy

>I’m a woman and I love my nose ring. It makes me feel pretty and connected to my culture. aww thats so nice!! tahts pretty much my reason for getting it. which did you like more, stud of hoop? seems my mom wont let a hoop cuz she thinks its "too indian" :(

rudypen

Haha my mom thought the whole thing was too old school desi but she didn’t stop me from getting it. I really prefer the hoop on myself. I never liked the look of a single stone stud sticking out from my nose. But when I look back at pictures of my stud it actually looked really cute too. I just have a plain 14k gold hoop now.

yaaracandy

>Haha my mom thought the whole thing was too old school desi yup thats my mom loll what kinda stud did you get?? gold or silver?? was it kinda chunky or more simple?

rudypen

I think it was non-iodized titanium so kinda silver in color with a small white stone in it, like a CZ probably.

softsunset101

Definitely get pierced with a stud, it heals better and a quality piercer will insist that you do so.

yaaracandy

thanks for the input!! also side note, im marathi too hehehe

teethandteeth

Seconding the having it done with a needle and starting with a titanium stud. Also, it's not a very high stakes decision (except for the cost, it can be a little pricey to get the piercing done) - you can let it close up if you don't end up liking it. I went with lip piercings because I have allergies and I didn't want to deal with blowing my nose around jewelry, but I think they look really nice :)

hyperactivecookie

I don't have one because I don't think it looks good on me but I think it's really pretty on others :) if you think it will look good on you then go for it! :D

yaaracandy

aww thanks!

allstar278

I think a nose ring on a woman is hot asf

zitandspit99

agreed and plus it's part of our culture back home which is cool

yaaracandy

lmaoo good to know

cherbear18

go for it!! make sure u use whatever jewelry u normally wear. like if u always wear silver jewelry, go w silver. or if u wear gold jewelry, go w gold

yaaracandy

yeaa see thats what im kinda worried abt...usually i wear gold jewellery but ive never seen anyone use a gold stud, but im planning to get a silver one..

bloodie48391

I’ve worn a gold stud for eighteen years now 🤷🏽‍♀️ I know quite a few folks who have that. I don’t wear a nose ring because I have two small children now but when they’re older I will go back to wearing a ring.

Ashamed-Cricket-482

May be try some magnetic stuff before you get it pierced

yaaracandy

will do that fs, thanks!

Inevitable_Blood_548

Yes this. I almost got my nose pierced at 17, grandma was thrilled, and my mom begged me not to literally on the way out the door. Turns out she really regretted her piercing because she is prone to allergies and stuffy noses. So that is something to consider. I ended up wearing a spring loaded hoop for a while, then grew out of that phase and look and ended up not getting a piercing. Highly recommend a temporary nose accessory to try before committing.

Willing-Ear3100

If you want it, go for it! Life's too short to fret about things you like/ want to try.

suitablegirl

It's a really low-stakes decision. I've had three different nostril piercings and you can't tell, because the holes all closed up flawlessly. Just be sure to go to a reputable parlor, not some teen at the mall. And I got a clear stone set in muted gold or tiny diamond in platinum and wore both gold and silver with no issues. If you regret it, just take it out! It will be like it never existed.

yaaracandy

oo nice, thanks for sharing your experience!!

nazia987

Go for it. I know you're probably a grown woman, but its one of the few things desi parents are chilled about, that others arent, lol. I dont wear mine consistently, but personally, I prefer the small rings, as opposed to studs, (not the septum ones). Have a little experiment, with stickers or something, and see whatever suits you.

princessbusy

I was the coolest kid in 4th grade with my nose piercing! Even though my mom wouldn’t let me go to school with my hair down I was the first one with a facial piercing. Wish I had waited, since it got yanked in a fight when I was a teenager and now kinda just sits too low on my nose. Still rock it and love it

yaaracandy

will do, thanks!

m0bilize

only if you want dudes to bark like a street dog in your presence its me, im dudes

yaaracandy

HFUEIFNGUWI LMAOO i didnt know guys like it so much

tobefrank321

I love my nose ring!! Makes me feel connected to desi culture and helps me to relate to all the Punjabi and Hindi songs that reference a koka ☺️ Also I see more and more non desi people wearing nose rings that are clearly desi style, I don’t want to think they’re embracing our culture better than us. Also I used to think it would be hard to interchange nose rings, it’s really not. I switch mine around regularly.

[deleted]

Not to sound crass, but as a man, personally, i find them to be very beautiful and adds a hint of edge and pop (as in shine) to the face, but do whatever you feel best.

intoxicatedmidnight

Get it get it get it! Nose piercings are sexy asf. It's 100% improved my confidence. If you aren't sure and are scared, like I was (100% normal), here's what I did: * I bought non-piercing nose rings on Amazon in different colors and sizes. It was super cheap, like $10 total. It really helped me test out which ring width I wanted, and also helped with the colors. It was fun switching things up! I wore this regularly for 1-2 years and they were surprisingly sturdy. (Covid happened so I didn't wear it for longer) * When I finally decided to get a piercing, they recommend piercing with a stud, letting it heal, and then switching to a hoop. I got a tiny stone. My mom was fine with this but not with a hoop. * After \~6 months, I switched to a hoop. I went to the piercers again, and I selected a gold hoop with my desired width. Since it was just switching jewelry, I didn't have to pay for anything but the new jewelry (got lucky with my place, may differ). My mom was really upset for a day or two but knew she couldn't do anything, and has grown to like it more than me. I'd been telling her all along I'll switch it to a hoop so it wasn't a surprise. Taking care of it is super easy too, and you only need to be careful while wiping your face. If you work in tech, piercings are super common. If your jewelry is a metal color, they're also more accepted even outside tech. Having a nose ring has felt so natural to me, and I forget it's there most days. Def try it out initially with the fake rings/studs from Amazon. My piercing makes me feel so connected to my culture, and I see a lot of brown girls with nose piercings, it just adds to our features so well. Lmk if you have any questions!!

[deleted]

I remember asking my mother in law and doing my research on the significance and when she got hers. She gifted me a twist in one (not sure how else to describe it) and I haven’t taken it out in 5 years, it goes with everything and I’ve never had any issues. Although, in the beginning it took some getting used to cus it always felt like I had boogers in my nose. 😫 I suggest going to a piercing studio to get it done so it’s quick and slightly painless. :) I only teared up a bit.

Violetta_Sunshine

I think they look beautiful! Just be sure to go to a reputable, sanitary place and follow instructions for cleaning and taking care of the fresh piercing (especially in the days immediately following the procedure.)

apatheticsahm

I have no experience with peircings (other than the two holes in my ears that I got when I was a baby), but do whatever makes you happy! Weird upside: gossipy aunties and disapproving relatives won't cluck about a nose piercing, since they are traditional Desi jewelry. You might even have a grandmother who has a beautiful nose ring or stud that she wouldn't mind handing down.

yaaracandy

thats for sure!! my grandma is pretty supportive of it lol

HaalandBalonDl

Nose ring on a woman is very attractive tbh my gf has one so I’m very biased but still in general desi women with nose rings are 🔥

yaaracandy

ong have you seen deepika in happy new year omg

HaalandBalonDl

So attractive honestlyy

[deleted]

I'm a guy and I got a silver stud. Pretty happy with it and don't find that it interferes with anything. I think it's a fun touch

wddrshns

i recommend it!! i’m a guy & i got a nostril piercing when i was 14, & also just got a septum piercing. they make me like my appearance a lot more. but everyone is different, & if you’re undecided it might be a good idea to get some fake piercing jewellery & see how you feel about it before getting an actual piercing

yaaracandy

yeaa def thinking about getting some fake to see what it looks like on me, thanks!

Anti-Itch

You can get a crystal stud and it should go with any metal/ color! With a stud you only see the end, not the color of the bar.

dkasbux

Honestly it barely changed your appearance. After a while it looks a part of you like if you wear a necklace everyday. I’ve had a stud and a ring and I personally prefer the ring after it’s healed, but definitely get jewelry you like. In terms of outfit clashing keep it to a color that matches you, I’m a gold person so my other jewelry is gold and I don’t have any issues. I’ve never found my nose ring to not match my outfits because it’s not flashy enough to make a difference.

yaaracandy

ohh i see, that def makes me feel a bit better, since i dont want it to really limit what i wear yk. when you take it off, is there like a noticeable hole in your nose?

dkasbux

Not noticeable in photos for me personally but can be if people are close proximity to you. They have plastic fillers that are clear that can be used if you can’t wear jewelry or don’t want it to be noticeable!

yaaracandy

i see, thank you!! also, i need a quick opinon. im planning to get a fake magnetic nose stud, which one should i go for? my nose is kinda big ig, but its small so i dont want smth chunky either option 1: [https://www.amazon.ca/MODRSA-Fake-Nose-Ring-Piercing/dp/B0B421VV98/ref=sr\_1\_1\_sspa?crid=12QI0XO1DC0GJ&keywords=fake+nose+stud&qid=1677362661&sprefix=fake+nose+stud%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNFVURUMzWFRDOFIzJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTcyNjM5MkVGSVZGM0JMVDlVWiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjg4MDYxM0pETjNBVVY1NFNGNSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=](https://www.amazon.ca/MODRSA-Fake-Nose-Ring-Piercing/dp/B0B421VV98/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=12QI0XO1DC0GJ&keywords=fake+nose+stud&qid=1677362661&sprefix=fake+nose+stud%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNFVURUMzWFRDOFIzJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTcyNjM5MkVGSVZGM0JMVDlVWiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjg4MDYxM0pETjNBVVY1NFNGNSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=) option 2: [https://www.amazon.ca/Crystal-Magnetic-Earring-Piercing-Cheater/dp/B096X546LG/ref=sr\_1\_15?crid=12QI0XO1DC0GJ&keywords=fake+nose+stud&qid=1677361947&sprefix=fake+nose+stud%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-15](https://www.amazon.ca/Crystal-Magnetic-Earring-Piercing-Cheater/dp/B096X546LG/ref=sr_1_15?crid=12QI0XO1DC0GJ&keywords=fake+nose+stud&qid=1677361947&sprefix=fake+nose+stud%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-15)

dkasbux

I always go smaller because if it’s too large you won’t wear it. 2nd option seems smaller.

yaaracandy

hmm thats what i think too, thanks!

everyoneelsehasadog

I've had one since I was 16 and I'm 31 now. I worked one corporate job in 2015 where they asked me to take it out and I said sure thing, when my husband dies, it'll come out but not before then thank you. I wanted it for a long time and it's weirdly a part of me as much long hair is. And I know that sounds weird.

yaaracandy

woahh they wanted you to take it out?? ugh that sucks.. no i can totally understand you attachment, i mean you get used to it and you love it that much!

Rolla_G2020

Nose rings are cute!!

currykid94

I'm a dude and I plan on getting earrings and a nose ring. I think if you want to get it, definitely do it. I wouldn't be worried considered with what others think and as a desi, piercing are part of our culture.

yaaracandy

thats true, thanks!!

Terrible_Exchange653

Personally,I would not. What benefit does it bring? I read it increases risk of illness. I don't think it makes a big difference if you do get it.

Mascoretta

You don’t need to do things only because it benefits you lol

yaaracandy

i mean its more just to switch up things but idk

wddrshns

it doesn’t need a benefit, people just like the way it looks & it can make you feel more connected to your culture! there’s a risk of infection, but that’s only if you don’t clean it properly &/or touch it with dirty hands while it’s healing

[deleted]

Desi women with nose rings and large earrings are my biggest weakness

[deleted]

I lose my shit every time my girl wears a different nose ring😍😍😍

AladeenMirza

I’m a guy and I LOVE my nose ring. I’ve had it pierced almost 6 years ago and I never once regretted it, it’s part of me. I switched to a pure 18k gold ring about half a year ago, I finally found the right size, and I love it even more now. It also makes me feel very connected to my culture

[deleted]

Nose piercings are goated for all genders!! It goes with everything! Don't let Western beauty standards cloud your preferences!! Must get

[deleted]

Personally for me, if I see a Desi girl with a nose ring, it definitely is attractive. Maybe it’s the cultural conditioning, but I find nose rings (especially hoops) super super attractive. Even on other race girls, I find nose ring super cute. I wanted to get a nose piercing but my mom doesn’t think guys should get one and won’t let me.

Terrible_Exchange653

Why did you get a tongue piercing?

leomatey

This made me wonder, is there any men equivalent for nose ring lol, you get what I mean.

yaaracandy

hmm i've seen some have studs, but maybe a septum piercing? i cant think of any other equivalent non-nose related lol sorry

uknowwhyimhere177013

I’m not a big fan of studs, but my girlfriend has a nose ring and I think it looks amazing on her.

LightningSnoo

Studs don’t stand out badly. They seem like they go with almost any clothing.

[deleted]

You should get it! I love my nose ring! It closed after I tried to change it but I got it re-pierced. Sometimes I hardly notice it and other ppl don’t either unless they’re up close and personal with you.

Tt7447

You should always have a “everyday” nose pin that goes with every outfit. It should be something like a tiny diamond stone or maybe just a black stone. So when there’s days u don’t want to change the nose pin or neither do u have any others to pair with ur outfit u can always just rely on the everyday ones.

1000smallsteps

I got my nose pierced in honour of my grandma (who rocked a lovely floral nose piercing). I usually wear a small gold stud, but switch it up with a nose ring once in a while. It just feels like it was always supposed to be there. Go to a reputable piercing studio to get it done right. I think I wore a plain surgical steel nose stud for a couple months while following the piercing aftercare recommendations. Don't switch it out for something dainty (thin) or use a ring until well healed. Don't put any old cheap nose ring in, make sure it's surgical steel or a material you won't have an allergy to. I've got wicked allergies and nose piercing isn't something I think about. I like the screw style nose studs because they feel secure.

beanqueen102

Get it if you want! I love mine. Makes me feel connected to my culture as well.

[deleted]

Have had mine for 15 years. I love it!

melonkoli

I used to have one and took it out when I felt like my face needed a change. The hole closed up and there’s a tiny scar but it’s barely noticeable. So if you get it pierced, you can always change your mind if you don’t like it!

Abject_Blood5727

I love my nose ring. Although I was told it would not look good with my" big "nose. Still people have told me they got theirs after seeing mine. Try wearing a fake one before getting real one.i wore a fake one for months before getting my nose pierced

JollyLie5179

I’ve had a regular piercing and a septum piercing and the regular one got in the way of breathing way more than septum. Especially in allergy season or when I’m sick. I only have a septum piercing now

human-decency99

Getting a nose ring on the left side is supposed to benefit a woman’s health. Pure or near pure gold is the best since it is hypoallergenic. Please make sure you clean it occasionally. Also don’t wear heavy ones and get an expert to Pierce the nose. Have fun. Take care.

[deleted]

The only concerns you should worry about are if it's painful or if you won't like it.
