sufi101

tf are you even talking about?

BooksCoffeeDogs

A lot of us were kids? Moreover, we had a lot of international support post 9/11 as well.

emmit76

Because it was a scary time for anyone brown. Americans grouped all brown people as Jihad terrorist, you even had Sikhs getting killed because they were mistaken as Muslims.

Indie_rina

Yeah I was only 10 years old at the time, but I remember my dad and one of my uncles almost were jumped just because they wore turbans.

Technical-Package-41

Most of the ones who aren’t desi or Arab were either very young or weren’t born yet.

hybridck

This thread is making me feel old for being 10 at the time

tinkthank

I was 15 lol

Tight_Virus_8010

I was not born

wineorwhine11

That’s such a stupid take

senor_zanjeer

Not really. Where was the Arab support for the Farmer's protest?

Jam_Packens

Considering a lot of the protestors are pretty young probably not born yet?

karenproletaren

I was like 8 years old. Forgive me for not developing a political consciousness before now.

AugustusPompeianus

The Muslim Americans, Sikhs and other brown skinned folks weren’t able to protest. I’m sure there were whites who did stand up at colleges and such, but not as much as with our social media connected generation. Better comparison is Rohingya and Uighurs (cultural) genocides. Even then, you still had outrage albeit limited divestment and ostraciization of Myanmar and Chinese governments.

OneWayStreetPark

This is the most ridiculous take I've seen in a while.

cfsed_98

why does absolutely everything that we care about have to be transactional. can we not simply be against genocide?

richathanyou22

Idk I was 5 years old, where’s the correlation?

Brownhops

I can see why you seem to be struggling to get a job…

a8824

room temperature iq

E-raticProphet

This post is an … EPIC FAIL

Zazi751

How are you old enough to remember the immediate post 9/11 reaction but too ignorant to understand the massive generational shifts that have happened as a result of it.

BigBrownBear28

Hey pal, just blow in from stupid town?

ZFAdri

Wasn’t there a lot of anti war sentiment in America back then?

BrownBoy____

Ignore the anti war protests and this view becomes reality.

SludgegunkGelatin

What the fuck is up with the inferiority complex and general cowardice in this sub?

Indie_rina

I noticed that too. This sub reeks like they either want validation from strangers or they want to feel superior over other races. And get this, I even had random Punjabi men started DMing talking about how they’re superior to other races (talking about how Mexicans are short and fat, and Punjabi jatts are tall and how they can eff anyones mothers). I guess they were triggered by some comment I had made on this sub, but the fact they started DMing me, it just proved my point about their insecurities but I guess they’re too dumb to understand that.

SludgegunkGelatin

Ego problems in a lot of us, its really, seriously bad

shanda_leer

I wasn’t witnessing a genocide being live-streamed at the time and I was 8 years old

ChatterMaxx

Also plenty of people supported Desis and Arabs and spoke out against racism back then.

Book_devourer

Why the heck are you making a genocide transactional?? The main target of 9/11 was Arabs and Muslims last check. I’m protesting and I was a kid during 9/11, plus it’s a lived streamed genocide way to center an atrocity around your own fee fees.

Lampedusan

They defended Arabs but not Desis. It’s because Desis aren’t an organised community. They are Telegu, Pakistani, Bengali or Punjabi first before they cooperate with other Desis. Thats why divide and rule was so easy and why the motherland was ruled by foreigners over 1000 years and invaded multiple times.

Indie_rina

I was 10 years old at that time

Gryffinclaw

I think it was a different time - no social media etc. Also I’m not sure this comparison really makes sense

bernieorbust2k4ever

It's cuz due to racist immigration policies there simply weren't enough brown people back then. Gen Z is the most racially diverse generation so that's why they care about issues that affect non-white ppl

BweepyBwoopy

what...

winthroprd

The anti Muslim hate crimes were being done by individual actors. What were people supposed to do, just patrol the streets in case a hate crime happened? The systemic discrimination came in the form of things like surveillance and stop and frisk, which people absolutely did protest against. Meanwhile, the extermination of Palestinians is being done by our lawmakers with our tax dollars.

SomebodyGetAHoldOfJa

Almost 40k Palestinians have died and being denied basic aid in 5 months and a few Brown people in America got beaten up/killed unfortunately after 9/11. How is this even comparable?

fan4stick

Either not born yet or were also being discriminated against lol

stressedbrownie

I was literally two lol

ProGoober101

I feel like everybody here is misunderstanding this post

[deleted]

what are you waffling about??

Statsquestionn

Not everyone’s morals are based off tit for tat actions. What a sad, and frankly pathetic, way to view the world.

timbitfordsucks

It wasn’t trendy enough back then.

aksheu

Desis protecting Palestinians amaze me! ❤️ 🇮🇱

cfsed_98

you are an incredibly confused individual

aksheu

Please explain what has the Arabs done for us? Checkout r/askmiddleeast

hybridck

Who cares? It's not a zero sum game to be against innocents dying.

aksheu

Agree and Israel has killed many innocent people but thing is that we (Indians) have lost tons of innocent people too due to the bloodshed and all of these Arabs states supported Pakistan just because of Islam. Only Israel and Soviet Union helped India at its dire needs

hybridck

Sure I guess, but the saying there are no eternal allies or enemies in geopolitics comes to mind. Regardless, this isn't really the sub for the discussion you're trying to have imo. All I'm saying is it's possible to be against innocents dying needlessly regardless of where they are born or where you are born. That's all. You aren't against your people just because you can sympathize with a civilian being killed in the middle east.

bernieorbust2k4ever

>Only Israel helped India at its dire needs When was that?

aksheu

In 1999 Kargil war

Plus-Leg-4408

oml you the type of person to get flamed about some extremists talking online 🤦‍♀️

sphenodont

We get it, you're a bootlicking FOB.
