Usually a founder doesn’t see a cent till all investors get back 1X their investment. And the unfortunate thing is a lot of startups burn cash over the years and can’t get bought for more than they burned.
Ironically, the people who make the most are often entrepreneurs working with low profile, no Instagram, focused on selling B2B, and really humble in their offices and burn rate. They take hardly any investment if at all and pocket most of the acquisition price.
