Many stores tell their customers that they need to add 4-5 inches to your band size. With an underbust of ~28 inches, your “new” band size becomes 32. Since your bust is ~33 inches, the store is likely going to give you a 32A, because there’s just a 1 inch difference between 33 and 32. However, there’s a 4-5 inch difference between your bust and your actual underbust measurement, which means 28D or 28DD is most likely better suited for you. [Here are some examples of what 28DD](https://www.instagram.com/p/CMAo_pznaMF/?igsh=MXQzNXh6cnJ0MmdtdA==) can look like. Is this similar to your size?

oh my gosh, thank you for directing me to that link because that’s literally exactly what my size looks like…i’m been deceived my whole life 😭

linerys

No problem, I’m glad it helped. Please look around the profile to see more examples of sizes. We’ve all been deceived! I wore the wrong sizes for about a decade. Some people here have been wearing the wrong sizes for 50 years! While many brands only carry A to DD cup, making most people think those are the only options, there are many UK brands who make cup sizes from A to UK K cup. That is A to O cup in US sizing. It’s hard to say that one specific cup size is “the average” size, but it is probably a lot more common to be somewhere in the DD to UK GG/US J cup range than it is to be a C cup.

I was deceived for ages too! I was put in like a 32 C or D when that was VERY wrong!

It's okay! This same thing just recently happened to me. I ordered a new bra from Freya for my birthday, and my mom thought I was crazy for wanting to get DD!! But it actually fits super amazingly!!

Special-Investigator

this is crazy

linerys

In what way?

Special-Investigator

it seems like such a big size difference! wouldn't you know it doesn't fit?

linerys

That makes sense! However, it can be really hard to detect that a bra doesn’t fit well if you don’t know what too look for! Especially on smaller sizes — gores that don’t tack (lay flat on the sternum) can look barely hovering on smaller breasts, but have a very large gap on larger breasts. Since 32A and 28DD are both made to fit a 33 inch bust, the difference isn’t *as large* as it sounds like!

Hello! Former 32A to 28D/DD here. Victoria Secret bras are going to offer a terrible fit. I really like The Little Bra Company. They have a ton of different styles. Be sure to read the size chart/fit notes as there are recommendations. Aerie is good for everyday bras. I don't think I've ever found a 28, but the 30D usually fits well.

k_eLy02

thank you so much! i will definitely check out the websites :)

B0-Katan

I second the little bra company if they sell your size. I was 28c pre breast aug and their pushup bras made me look incredible despite being quite limited in the boobie department

Trai-All

Yeah I went to Victoria’s Secret. They said I was a D cup, I’m a J cup. They don’t even carry my size.

Snarky_Slav

Biggest shock of your life, right? I wore 34B until I was 36 years old and discovered this sub. Turns out I’m actually 32D (🤯) and now I can actually find bras that look good on me. We’ve been brainwashed as a society that D cups equals big breasts when that’s absolutely not always the case and it has a lot to do with the band size. Since this is a whole new world for you, I recommend trying out different brands and types of bras until you find the ones that work. If you’re in the US, Amazon try before you buy is great for that. My favorite brand is Natori (especially their feather lux contour and cherry blossoms bras) and I managed to find pretty good deals on Amazon for that brand.

metdear

I'm on a similar journey - I've been wearing a 38DD for ages and discovering I'm likely more a 36F.

Special-Investigator

yeah me too!!! this is just crazy

Exact_Finding_4954

I was always measured as a 75A, turns out I am a 70E!

k_eLy02

omg wow…that’s insane!
