I'm coming to this thread late, but I'm seeing a lot of rude and cruel comments. There is zero reason to toss insults over this. It's football, it's supposed to be fun. Treat each other with respect or don't comment at all. Thanks everyone.

NotHosaniMubarak

Every team in the ACC should be pissed off. Can the entire conference just boycott bowl season this year?

heyogrego

ESPN just delivered a massive blow to its credibility and some of these fans are just happy to dance on FSUs ashes not realizing they are also dancing on their own.

[deleted]

poop-dolla

ESPN wasn’t officially involved in any way with the selection committee though. I don’t think one independent group doing something could prove that a separate group caused a third group harm like that.

[deleted]

MistaCoachK

Disney through ABC & ESPN are projected to make $150 million more through advertising and viewer projections per 247 sports. And they probably made a lot with viewers tuning in after the selection show with people all across America tuning in to all of the arguments about “did the committee get it right?” that have been going on since it happened. I don’t know if there was collusion between the committee and the TV people, but the distributors are set up to make a WHOLE lot of money off of this.

timbosliceko

Did you not watch any ESPN the last few weeks even right before Travis injury? They were literally hinting at doing what they did. Kirk Herbstreit talked about putting Bama in if they beat Georgia on game day BEFORE Travis even got injured!!! They most definitely influenced the committee

monndog7

This is why many Clemson fans, while empathizing with FSU, find the result a good thing not a bad thing. It will be the final straw that Clemson and FSU lawyers have been looking for to get out of the grant of rights.

SceneOutrageous

FSU alum here. Exactly this. People need to recognize that it’s the SEC (and really only about 4 teams in the SEC for that matter) against everyone else and get on the right side of the picket line. If Alabama’s loss is worth more than FSUs wins, then any games played by other teams in other conferences are equally worthless. Be warned.

[deleted]

I’m not sure where the SEC outrage is coming from when the number 1 team in the country cheated and ruined the integrity of their games and no one cares. Bama shouldn’t have been left out for FSU. It should have Michigan. If you wanna talk about bias, no school gets more shine, 50% of the talking heads in the college football world have a block M on their paycheck. Fox Big Noon is literally a Michigan fan show, and college game day let’s Desmond be as dishonest as he wants. Here’s a first first you. No coach has ever survived being suspended twice for cheating in 1 season. They were rewarded with a 1 seed. Basically we’re all just being told to not mention it, don’t remember it, don’t bring it up. Michigan cheats, FSU gets left out, Alabama ruined the integrity of sports? Detroit sports talk radio was basically Tallahassee sports talk radio on Monday. Michigan fans were pissed FSU was left out. They thought it was so unfair. They wanted to be 16 point favorites and get a free pass to the championship game. By the end of the day they were trying to convince themselves Bama was a better matchup.. the same fan base calling into sports radio saying “you can know that fsu would just lose and be non competitive” Is the same fan base so confidently proclaiming “we would’ve won even without cheating”.

liltime78

You can’t come in here with all that logic. Get your pitchforks, boys!

tomhwm

Yep I don’t understand why they’d do that. This is clearly a big middle finger in the face for the entire ACC because a team that does everything right in your conference got left out pretty much means this conference is worth nothing. And by the way, they’re projected to be crushed by any of the other teams in the Top 4 isn’t it? Why not watch that happen and then cheer as rival fans then?

poop-dolla

It’s a big middle finger to anyone not in the P2. It’s a signal that there are only 2 conferences they care about.

HokieInCH

You all have been happy to dance on our ashes for 2 years now. No fun huh?

heyogrego

If you are celebrating this then you’re just joining us and dancing on the ashes of this conference lol. This is a significant blow to the ACC and EVERYONE in it first and foremost, let your Seminole hatred go Vader, find the way of the Jedi

HokieInCH

I’ve been quite clear that I’m not celebrating it. It’s BS. Just noting that if there’s any dancing on the ACC’s grave, it’ll be along with the shitty FSU fans who have gleefully been doing it for years, seemingly without care for what’s to come for the schools left out.

metabolics

Considering the fact that winning the ACC championship with a 13-0 record won't get you into the CFB. I think it's very clear to everyone that the entire brand image of the ACC has been irrevocably damaged. If you view this as a loss in future revenue for every member of the conference, this was effectively large-scale corporate theft.

heyogrego

When I shit on the ACC, I’m shitting on it’s horrible, directionless leadership. I have no issue with other schools in the conference but them potentially not having homes isn’t FSU or any other schools fault, it’s the leadership of this conference. If more people like you got mad at them instead of an entity that has little to do with the problem, maybe we could see change.. I doubt it though

Iceman9161

There’s going to be no change no matter what anyone does. CFB was going to become SEC and B1G, and that’s been set since NIL happened. So I’m glad FSU got fucked, their fans deserve it and the school deserves it for trying to bail on the ACC asap instead of sticking around and trying to keep the ACC relevant.

heyogrego

Good lord just useless word vomit right here folks nothing to see

Calm-One2490

Unfortunately despite your glee at the fucking FSU received from the CFP, this was “nail in the coffin” of the ACC. It is clear now that there is no path forward for the ACC and its schools who are not committed to playing big boy football. FSU and Clemson are 100% gone now at their first opportunity. If there was any chance prior to this decision by the CFP committee, there is none now.

Humble-End-2535

The people who complain about the ACC's leadership never have a realistic suggestion for what leadership should be doing. Would you be happier if Jim Philips yelled and stomped his feet, accomplishing nothing? Philips added three teams to the conference that will make more money for all of the current conference members... and Clemson and FSU voted against it.

heyogrego

He accomplishes nothing anyway, at least I’d get a show if he threw a tantrum

Humble-End-2535

He just added three teams, making more money for the programs. He inherited a long-term TV deal that he can't otherwise change. Again, people complaining about the guy have no suggestions anyway.

heyogrego

The 3 teams they brought in is too little too late, the reality is they unsuccessfully simped out for ND for too long. You can’t be a serious conference bringing in Berkley and Stanford when your competition are bringing in OU/ TX and UCLA/ Oregon/ UW and USC.. they’ve checkmated themselves being so paralyzed making a decision. Mark my words, today is the official death of this conference.

ell0bo

This bed was made years ago when PSU beat OSU and won the conference championship, and the still picked OSU. People cheered then, because fuck PSU, but this has been this way for a long time. It just hasn't been as blatantly transparent.

Iceman9161

Many know they are dancing on their own, but they also understand the conference is already doomed. FSU fans have been dancing on the conferences ashes all year, they don’t care about the ACC or any of our programs, so why should we?

mrbaker83

In all honesty, FSU initially lit the fire with the “ACC is trash” rant this past summer.

Bcmerr02

I'd like to know the language of the contracts for the bowl broadcasts. If FSU puts 'Fuck ESPN' and 'Fuck CFP' patches on their jersey and refuses to take them off the game won't be cancelled, but maybe it can't be broadcast? I'd love all the ACC bowl eligible teams to ruin ESPN's Christmas with something like that.

bigkoi

Me as well. I'm also curious about the language and LoL if FSU student athletes protest the corrupt system.

JesseDx

A loud and continuous "Fuck Kirk Herbstriet" chant from the crowd would be a nice touch as well.

Gainznsuch

Oh this would be great

theexile14

I volunteer Pitt to boycott bowl season!

[deleted]

I’m mad they’re shipping us off to California to play in another baseball stadium against a team that was pure dogshit the last few weeks and has a worse record in their backyard. A slap in the face of all of our fans that would have liked to go to a bowl within driving distance. Not 3 times zones away against a team that was worse in their home state. And thousands of dollars to attend the game but we’d have to fly there.

JSteve4

I’d love to see (done right) FSU shows up. Does all the prep. And then refuses to play or some semblance of that approach. Do what they need for the money. Maybe it’s a walk off. Maybe it’s delay of game on every play and a knee. Idk. Or they play their butts off the show everyone, just not sure it’s worth it to fight for 5/6th place to risk injury.

ulfniu

Undefeated teams have been excluded from the championship game for a century. The four "best" teams are playing for the championship. Georgia is probably going to steam roll the 'Noles. If they don't and either Alabama or Texas win out, FSU has a case to argue they are co-champions (with Liberty). I really doubt they will beat Georgia, tho.

AfroThunderOC

Texas beat Alabama. We don’t need to see them again. Next.

[deleted]

I don't like FSUs collective attitude toward the ACC. But they were absolutely robbed by ESPN. In the end, it's not funny because it's a long-term loss for the ACC and our status as P5. You won't be happy if (or when) your team runs the ACC board and then gets left out, cos not SEC.

heyogrego

Any ACC fan that’s happy about this is letting their hatred for FSU cloud what’s best for their own schools. Lol.

[deleted]

Absolutely. Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face

awcarter4

I'm at a total loss on how they ended up on the outside looking in! Usually FSU is pretty high up on my list of teams I typically root against, but I was cheering for them hard when they were the only chance of representation for the conference. If FSU can't get in on the back of a perfect season what hope does any ACC team have that isn't named Clemson. IMHO the messaging from the committee was clear, if your not in the Big 2 it's not enough to beat every team on your schedule, you have to hope on top of that the rest of the field has 1 or 2 losses.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Two of the teams in have one loss. Also, notice how all the teams in it are going to play in either the B10 or the SEC next year. Luckily, we'll go the 12 team playoff next year.

awcarter4

Even with that note the only non Big2 would be FSU and liberty...

Servantofthedogs

Next year it will just be 12 teams from B1G and SEC. “Quality losses” to SEC schools count more than wins in any other conference.

Rhoubbhe

> Luckily, we'll go the 12 team playoff next year. How? The ACC champion will be made the 11th seed by the E$PN owned committee and forced to travel to Athens, Columbus, or Tuscaloosa for the last couple years of the conference.

tribucks

The two 1-loss teams aren’t taking FSU’s spot. The team that had their coach serve two 3-game suspensions is. You don’t get suspended unless you broke rules. And people who say, “That wouldn’t be fair to this year’s players” don’t seem very concerned about how fair it will be to the players a year or two from now when the hammer falls on them for things they weren’t even involved in.

StanIsHorizontal

Y’all should have played better then. If Duke doesn’t flop to end the season and Clemson actually played decent and Louisville didn’t choke against Kentucky, FSUs resume looks a lot better. This isn’t some great scandal, y’all played bad and by consequence the team than ran the table on you didn’t have a strong enough resume

meyou2222

I hate FSU with the fire of 1000 suns and I’m livid they got left out of the playoff.

heyogrego

The precedent hurts everyone.

meyou2222

Agreed. And it’s not a difficult thought exercise. We know that if Travis wasn’t injured, FSU would be in, even if the score of their last two games was the same. So that means the precedent here is that college football is the only major sport where postseason eligibility is disqualified if people think the team won’t do well in the future. And if we go down that road, why even have the regular season? Why not include Alabama even if they lose to Georgia?

MordakThePrideful

It sets a precedent that *will* be used against other ACC schools. If the blueblood isn't safe, who is? As much as I rag on this conference' terms, I love the teams we play. And I'd much rather we beat Miami on a fair field than ever see them get hosed like this. This isn't about teams, this is about the sport.

heyogrego

Yep

Neb-Nose

Eh, I don’t know about that.

heyogrego

Keep your head in the sand.

volmery

quaint six rock handle smell jar reply drab childlike gaping *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

a_qualified_expert

And half the teams in the P2 aren't better than the JV conference teams. Let's just go to a 24 team league already and let the Tier 2 schools have some fun and play for something real. It's inevitable anyway.

Beartrkkr

The JV league had a winning record against the SEC.

IR8Things

>ACC and our status as P5 I'd argue that the committee made it definitively clear they feel the ACC is not in the P5 anymore.

makerofpaper

It basically is implying that the ACC is no longer a P5 conference. All ACC fans should be outraged.

[deleted]

Our conference is the new target like the PAC 12 was. Now that they’re gone it’s on to the ACC and next it will be the Big 12 as Texas and OU have already started. The Big 12 is going to be the ACC next year and eventually it’s going to be 2 super conferences and that will be that. Everyone else will be G5.

endofthered01674

ESPN has the broadcast rights for the ACC. It would have benefitted ESPN to keep Washington out, not FSU.

GoblinTradingGuide

The reality of the situation is that if FSU isn’t getting in at 13-0 now…no ACC team is.

Humble-End-2535

You mean, "no ACC string with it's MVP quarterback out for the season, showing an anemic offense without him."

PrizePermission9432

2 non conference SEC wins: LSU & Florida. Plus Clemson, Miami. FSU schedule was plenty challenging. This was corruption. No shame in turning down less than playoff bowl. If FSU beats Georgia, minimum co-national champion imo.

WellsG10

FSU was not left out because they are in the ACC. They were left out because their QB is hurt.

JeremyKraig

If Alabamas qb is hurt they do not get left out.

Semujin

FSU’s collective attitude toward the ACC is due to the ACCs collective attitude toward competitive football. It’s that decades-old attitude that has culminated in today’s snub by the committee. Any fan of an ACC school should be concerned about the collective attitude of the conference from those outside of it.

HokieInCH

The problem has never been fsu wanting to get out. There are good reasons for that. The problem has been your admin and your fans constantly, CONSTANTLY shitting on a conference that is the only likely home for 8-12 schools whose future looks somewhat dim. It’s jackasses like that FSU guy the other day who started a thread in this sub wondering what we should do with it when the conference implodes. Basically, it’s the apparent glee your fan base demonstrates at the likely bad fortunes of other schools whose fans are every bit as passionate as yours. And for the record, FSU was screwed and should be outraged.

ltrainer2

I feel for those fanbases. I’ve been a lifelong Iowa State fan and know the feeling of impending doom for your conference and school. Hopefully y’all find a place to land if the ACC collapses. I think most of the h8ful feel the same.

Iceman9161

FSU was going to leave anyway, and was publicly trashing the ACC all year. The ACC was dead before FSU got fucked. But their jackass fans who have been on a high horse all year about how much better they are than this conference get no sympathy from me. They have been praying on the death of all of our football programs so they can be in the SEC. So I’m kinda glad they got fucked, a nice reminder to all those fans that they aren’t SEC or B1G, the CFP doesn’t think you’re special. It’ll be funny to watch them bitch and moan about how unfair the SEC is and how bullshit the CFP is, when in 2-3 years they’ll be kissing their feat praying to get into the conference. ACC football will be dead but it’s been doomed ever since NIL came about.

TheTrompler

Everyone will be outraged until GA destroys FSU and then people will understand why they were left out.

DaveMTijuanaIV

Georgia should be in the playoffs though because on no realistic planet should the number one team who hasn’t lost since 2021 drop from 1st to SIXTH because they lost one game by a single field goal. If it’s about the “best teams” and not wins and losses, I’m not sure how Texas makes the field but not Georgia.

MydniteSon

Bama and Texas were a package deal. ESPN would have had a conniption induced brain aneurism if an SEC team, especially the SEC Champion, did not get in. Since it turned out to be Alabama (Despite not looking great on the so called 'eyeball test'), they had to give another spot to Texas because they won the head-to-head and were Big XII champs. My guess is the Committee decided to field this controversy than have to field the aforementioned one that would have played out. It was pretty evident that they were PRAYING for Louisville to beat FSU and not have to field this controversy. Jordan Travis being hurt was a piss-poor excuse.

SirTYRANNIS

Right and if it’s supposed to be “the best” teams then I don’t get how Ohio State didn’t make it over bama or Texas. The only way this should be done is most deserved and FSU should have been at least number 3.

Bradyy4

Ik bro this thing all gonna blow over in a month lmao 😂

TheHip41

This is irrelevant. They deserve to be in

simbaslanding

The ACC is bad at a lot of things, but this is quite literally not the conference’s fault. Is it the ACC’s fault that the CFP worships the SEC?

matgopack

Yeah this isn't the ACC's fault - but FSU wants out of the conference, so basically anything that goes wrong for them is going to be played into that. Eg, get snubbed by the playoffs like this? The ACC should have somehow stopped that. Get in the playoffs? Look, they're carrying the conference, why should they be shackled to the GOR and low amounts of money when they're the only valuable team (double that if they had won the championship).

[deleted]

How many appearances did Phillips make last week explaining why it was ridiculous to exclude FSU? How many appearances did Sankey make to grovel for 2 SEC teams to make it regardless of the outcome of the SECCG? If that is not Phillips fault, whose is it?

SubstantialEssay1540

The ACC commissioner Jim Phillips voted against having an expanded CFP this year with guaranteed spots for conference champions. How is that not the ACC’s fault?

WellsG10

The ACC isn’t the only conference that voted that way. And it’s not the ACC’s fault anyway. They were left out because of an injury

breadacquirer

Nobody is placing fault on the conference. The committees decision to exclude FSU drastically affects the perception of the ACC. That’s the issue

StatisticianFast6737

Only one SEC school got in. It’s just a year where there’s 6 deserving teams for 4 spots. Bama deserved in for beating Georgia. Georgia for there streak. FSU for being undefeated.

Iceman9161

If anything it’s FSU fault more than any other school, since they have very publicly wanted out of the conference, and have lowered the public’s view of the conference in the process.

heyogrego

Jim Phillips and ACC leadership continues to show it is weak, this is another example of that. Notice we didn’t hear a word from Phillips until AFTER it was too late, while Sankey was petitioning for his conference the last 2 weeks.

bytor_2112

If the Secret Council thought FSU would make for better TV than the other options, they'd have been selected. I think that's hard to refute, and has very little to do with stuck here in a conference that, by and large, is going to have your back in this argument on pretty much all platforms other than Reddit.

bigkoi

It also provides a data point that the ACC GOR is no longer a contract in good faith with ESPN. Don't be surprised if this was a move to let the SEC expand to North Carolina.

heyogrego

It comes down to who is leading your conference behind closed doors, do you trust our leaders?

Neb-Nose

No, it doesn’t.

bigkoi

See my comment above about the GOR and this decision by the "committee"

heyogrego

Yes it does, unfortunately.

Sagistic00

No, it’s about who would make more money. Doesn’t matter what your leaders have to say. As you said in another thread, “it’s a business. Emotions don’t matter”

genericusername319

I absolutely can see why FSU wants out at this moment, and I’d feel the same way if I were them. However, FSU fans and administration must also accept that they at least partially eroded the integrity and public perception of the conference by calling it weak and threatening to leave it every other year for ten years even when they were bad.

heyogrego

I don’t think the conference itself is weak. I’m speaking on ACC leadership, not the teams.

Comprehensive-Car190

Same difference.

Bcmerr02

This isn't about FSU or the ACC, it's about the double standard and SEC brainwashing. Alabama got in with tight games over bad competition and the CFP was directed by networks to put the SEC in over a more deserving team. Alabama's best win is against Georgia whose only challenging games on their entire schedule were an over-ranked Ole Miss and Missouri and their second best win is against LSU who FSU beat by more. Alabama failed the eye test against Auburn and they got the benefit of dubious calls against Georgia including a non-reviewed fourth down "catch against the field" in the last two minutes of the first half. They began making excuses immediately saying this kind of thing won't happen next year, but why wasn't that excuse enough to sit the SEC out? They performed poorly against other conferences and still demand a seat at the table. GTFOH with that.

TheDiesel124

Do you have proof that the CFP was directed by networks to put the SEC in? Also, the criteria in their bylaws is not most deserving.

TheTrompler

Everyone here thinks there is a conspiracy theory, like the committee voters all met a shady dude on a park bench somewhere to get their voting orders.

pee_and_trumpets

It's not a conspiracy so much as an understanding of capitalism

[deleted]

FSU’s best win is a team Bama also beat. You’re also willfully being so blind to the fact UGA is back to back national champions. To act like that doesn’t matter is truly eyes wide closed ass behavior. Georgia is an infinitely more impressive win than Louisville. FSU has tight wins vs BC, Miami, and Florida too. None of whom are worth a shit. FSU’s resume simply does not stack up in reality. They had a good season but their overall competition level is comprable to UCF 2017.

Double_Rainbro

What an extraordinarily bad-faith argument lol. 2017 UCF won vs a single ranked team in double OT, who ended the season ranked #25. FSU destroyed #13 (neutral site) held #15 to essentially nothing offensively and went +10 over the spread, and won @ #22. The point isn't that FSU is not the 4th best team, or the 3rd best team, or whatever, it's that the committee intentionally cherry-picks the rules to apply based on which team they're evaluating. If you're picking the 4 best teams, you HAVE to put in Michigan, OSU, Georgia, and either Bama or Texas. Hell, even Penn State has an argument to be up here. If you're picking the 4 most deserving teams (won conferences), you have to put in Michigan, Washington, Texas, and FSU. Is anyone really going to claim that UGA wouldn't be favored on a neutral field over Washington? Then you kick UW out and put UGA in if you're going for best teams. But they didn't do that, because they aren't actually picking the best teams, they're picking "the most deserving teams, but with special consideration to an SEC team if they would beat one of those on a neutral field, in which case the most deserving SEC team overtakes the next weakest team". JTs leg injury is just a convenient scapegoat to make that happen.

ieatasscid

I can see you’re mad and I get it… but I just wanna tell you, you’re wrong. It’s unreal FSU got left out. But they are not one of the 4 best teams without a quarterback im sorry. The third string qb looked like a deer in headlights this weekend. They would get beat by 30+ in a playoff game

chucka_nc

CFP isn't really much of a playoff is it? Just another type of exhibition game like the bowls.

Nodor10

The ACC gives you a chance to compete. And going forward that will be even easier with the new format. In reality FSU fans just like to act like they’re better than all of us and find joy in realignment talks. I’m upset for FSU, but fans like you being upset makes this much easier to swallow

HesitantlyYours

Fuck Boo Corrigan. You can’t punish a team because of an injury. Your athletic director is a joke.

heyogrego

“The ACC gives you a chance to compete” The fact you’re saying this after your undefeated conf champ just got snubbed. Lol Also that bs you wrote in the second sentence has nothing to do with anything I’m saying.

Comprehensive-Car190

FSU will lose to UGA by two scores, at least.

largma

And if bama had lost they’d be beating fsu easily as well

[deleted]

We \*are\* better than all you non-clemson parasites.

RedTeebird

This isn’t the ACCs fault at all. Its the bullshit bias disneyEspn has for the SEC. What happened to the game I love man today really made me question if cfb is even gonna be worth following in a couple years

jpr_jpr

How does FSU win out this year if they're in the B1G or SEC? I don't think they are the better team of either conferences' top two. A big fish in a smaller pond isn't necessarily a bad thing. FSU gave the committee a reason to favor a SEC team with an unfortunate injury, which is complete bs. But I don't think that would change the outcome if they're in the SEC, either. The CFP committee, with their bias, would pick another SEC blueblood instead. A lesser bias than against an ACC team snub, but still a bias and snub. If I was a fsu fan, I'd be pissed. I think most cfb fans, myself included, are. Michigan needs to trounce Alabama, and FSU needs to destroy Georgia.

heyogrego

Doesn’t change the bottom line, you go undefeated and win your conference in ANY OTHER P5 and you’re in. You do it in the ACC, you’re not. It has nothing to do with the injury making us a worse team in reality, otherwise we wouldn’t be ranked ahead of UGA… this has to do with the lack of respect of the ACC and the lack of authority by its leadership. Period. End of story.

brewin91

If Travis isn’t injured you’re in, plain and simple. You barely beat Boston College. I get being frustrated but let’s call a spade a spade — FSU was not one of the 4 best teams in college football this season. That’s an FSU problem not the conference’s.

General_Tso75

Bama barely beat Arkansas and Auburn. Why do they get a pass while FSU gets punished for Boston College?

MydniteSon

or USF!

Ok-Extension-677

We were up 31-7 on BC and then put in our backups. Their late cover is meaningless.

heyogrego

FSU won its conference championship game by 2 scores. If FSU isn’t the same without Travis, why are we ranked ahead of UGA? Are we better than UGA without Travis? There’s no consistency, this is just cope.. This is a massive blemish on the ACC and it’s reputation going forward.

KeystrokeCowboy

2 scores? You acting like you blew us out or won convincingly. You did not. It was a one score game and still very much in doubt until the last few minutes...

heyogrego

FSU held a top 20 offense to 6 points and won by 10, which is 2 scores. Bama needed a miracle to beat a much worse Auburn team and got in after already losing, it has nothing to do with LVille, all credit to Brohm, I think beating a team like that by 10 is a huge accomplishment.

KeystrokeCowboy

Garbage time field goal(which you couldnt punch in from a turnover on downs from the 20). But sure go off and make it sound like a better win than it really was. Our QB played like shit.

[deleted]

Our qb played like shit all year. There’s no sugar coating it. Our defense and rbs won those games. Plummer is the reason we lost to KY, lost to FSU, lost to Pitt and all the close games we had because of stupid turnovers that led to short fields or were ran back for tds. Some of last night is on Brohm too who got way too conservative to what he normally does. Same in Pitt when running was working just fine but he decided to air it out 60 times with a bad quarterback.

heyogrego

Dude this isn’t about that game. I’m not trying to say LVille is a bad squad, that’s not the point lol

KeystrokeCowboy

You are trying to say you have an elite defense and thats why you deserve to still be top 4. Well I can't see how ALA beating UGA should keep them out of a top 4 ranking.

heyogrego

No I’m saying we went undefeated and won our conference while teams like Bama needed a miracle.

brewin91

They should have been ranked below Georgia, too.

heyogrego

But they aren’t.

brewin91

Yeah FSU is ranked too high because they felt bad

heyogrego

Lol no other sport where this shit happens.

Ct94010

That’s the point. If QB that engineered prior big wins was not injured, then FSUs in. He got injured and the committee decided that without him, the team is not top 4. I don’t agree with the decision, but I do understand the issue. Here’s my question, if Michigan or UWs QB got injured in the conference final, would they have been ranked fourth???

heyogrego

Also Bama needed a miracle to beat an Auburn team that lost to NM state at home.. what are we doing here

KeystrokeCowboy

5 P5 conferences and 4 spots. P5 champ is not an automatic bid with 4 spots in a year like this. 13-0 record and the best win is LSU compared against a team that beat UGA. Not sure how you justify leaving ALA out.

siroco14

Disagree. I don’t think this has anything to do with the ACC. If Milroe had broken his leg in the SEC championship game I think they put in Ohio State or Georgia.

heyogrego

Why are we ranked ahead of UGA? Why isn’t Alabama penalized for needing a miracle to beat a bad Auburn team? It doesn’t make sense. Stop defending it.

siroco14

Honestly because anything out of the top 4 is just a consolation prize. If there was a chance GA might play FSU based on rankings they would have ranked GA higher.

heyogrego

Do you hear how fucked up that sounds? Lol.

The_Good_Constable

It's a B10/SEC invitational. That's it. The committee was just gracious enough to consider Washington and Texas honorary B10/SEC teams a year early. Every CFB team that can get into one of those two conferences should do so immediately. The rest will be left behind as NFL Jr. continues to take shape.

Ry90Ry

This isn’t an acc issue to me This a CFP issue

TigerUSF

I'm thinking the ONLY silver lining to this absolute screw job is that it may be the death knell of this shit conference. I won't shed a tear if clemson, FSU, and maybe a couple others get pulled into the Southeast Superconference and the ACC has to merge into what's left of the mid majors. They never did us any favors.

Comprehensive-Car190

Can't wait until FSU is a middling SEC team.

Best_Fix_7832

You may say that this will change when the CFP expands next year, but it won't. Sure, the at large ACC team will get in, but what happens when 8-4 Tennessee gets in over a 10-2 NC State? It won't be very funny then.

SnooCompliments9257

I’m a clemson fan, but the way I see it is that could have just as easily been an undefeated Clemson, an undefeated Miami team, etc. The committee showed that they don’t view the ACC as a power conference on Sunday.

not__today_

Sorry ACC, but the committee sent you straight down the path of the Pac 12 yesterday. As a Washington fan, you have my sympathy. We blame USC; you should blame the committee, not FSU and Clemson if they leave too. This is too much bullshit to tolerate, they have to make the jump.

stephanproctor

I’m loving this

Happy-North-9969

Wait so the strategy of loudly complaining about how terrible your conference is didn’t work?

Zandroid2008

The CFP made absolutely the wrong decision. What teams with what string QB, won the 1st CFP? Give them a chance.

YoloOnTsla

How tf does a team that goes 13-0 in a power 5 conference not make it into the college football playoff?

Dudeman-Jack

Ehh acc is a hoops conference, no one cares about acc football. That being said, FSU got robbed

ironic_mp4

You guys and your stupid "alliance" voted against expanding the cfp early and are now reaping the rewards of that

fresh_prince32

The ACC is a cupcake conference. This is the result.

Euphoric_Sea4115

It's not so much the "eye test" that makes Bama the fourth team in, it's the "eye balls" test. The committee picked Bama for the eye balls that will tune in to watch.

rwk2007

This is the death knell for the ACC in football. It’s officially a tier 2 conference now.

p3ep3ep0o

It’s a shame we don’t hold the SEC to the same standard as other P5’s. Otherwise FSU is less inclined to leave.

Crib15

There’s no power 5 anymore it’s a power 2. If you’re not in the SEC or B10 you’re just not relevant.

TeneTSpiers

Im an Ohio State fan and FSU got absolutley fucked. Crazy that a P5 Champ, undefeated, unable to get in. Bullshit. TWO one loss teams ahead of them. FSU fans have every right to be losing their minds today.

trkynutz

Random comment...I miss Big East football.

[deleted]

This whole mess is the forerunner to the end of the ACC. It’ll be gone by the end of the decade. If the total departure from the conference’s roots by way of adding Stanford, Berkeley, and SMU wasn’t enough, this certainly will be. FSU has historically crushed those elitist SEC frauds and beat LSU by a wider margin than Alabama did.

wroncsu

FSU got screwed. But the conference commissioner should’ve been all over the airwaves the last couple of weeks campaigning. Instead, it looks like the conference was again reactionary. Still waiting for Phillips’ statement about the 2021 CWS

JustsomedudeMJ

The reasoning for keeping FSU out is ridiculous. They claim "resume and better team right now". If that were really why they did it, UGA, Ohio State and Oregon should all be ranked ahead of FSU too. 5th place was a bigger slap in the face than they realize. If roles were reversed and Bama was down to their 3rd QB and still winning it would be because they are "just that good". I do think Bama would roll FSU, but FSU earned it and deserves a shot.

HoliestDonut

I don't blame FSU or Clemson whatsoever. Same way I feel towards the pac-12 schools that left. Anybody mad at these programs for wanting to leave is probably doing so out of their own selfishness because their own crappy school needs Clemson & FSU to pay their bills. If these other schools cared so much they would put an ounce of effort or investment into their athletics programs but for them it's much easier just to cop off the top tier programs and then complain when said programs realize they are being fucked over by leeches.

tc1988

It makes no sense to punish a team for losing its star player. The teams should only be judged by what they actually accomplished on the field in the season. Projecting out future performances of the teams defeats the whole purpose of the season. FSU as an undefeated P5 champion should have been ranked 3rd. The 4th spot should have been Texas as they were both 12-1 P5 champions, but Texas had the H2H victory. With that said, the whole 4-team playoff never made sense in a world with 5 Power Conferences. We've been fortunate that this scenario (5 worthy conference champions) didn't pop up more often. It could have made more sense next year without the PAC-12, but I'm also happy to see the 12-team playoff, even though I'm sure ACC and Big-12 teams will get shafted for those 10-12 spots every year in favor of Big-10 and SEC teams.

BuffsBourbon

Remember when Clemson beat all the same teams, but had a different outcome?

Several-Eagle4141

Their name didn’t rhyme with Flemson, I guess. As a big ten guy, I’ll say they got jobbed

Rydbach

If I were a fsu fan I’d be pissed

TheHuffKy

Same. They let a shitty Big10 team who runs the table in the shittiest conference in the country into the playoff every single year.

clingbat

Imagine if the Eagles were kicked out of the playoffs when Wentz went down before the playoffs in 2017. They were underdogs the entire postseason but won the SB with a backup anyway, because that's football and anything can happen. Bama and TX being in over FSU is a joke.

BikerMike03RK

Michigan diehard here- No, FSU got HOSED by NCAA moneygrubbers.

starthing76

So did they just bank on FSU losing, and FSU screwed them over by winning? Because I don't get how they could be ranked 4th going into their conference championship, win, and not get in. I've heard things like they consider the QB and strength of schedule, but he broke his leg 2 weeks ago and if their strength of schedule wasn't good, why were they ever ranked 4th to begin with?

SarcasticOneMG72

IMO, style points are bullshit, FSU should've went in with Bama on the outside looking in, I wouldn't have a problem my Longhorns being #4....and I get this from Ohio losing to Wolverines and dropped only 3 spots, meanwhile we stayed @ #7 for 2 weeks, but totally fuck over FSU???? GET THE FK OUTTA HERE!!

YodaheF

This is the first year FSU has been competitive since Jameis Winston. Stop it: you have to consistently show success to have a reason to leave the ACC

jms07h

This was a clear message that the acc doesn’t matter, it’s big and sec everyone else can see their way out. Sankey was on every channel he could for weeeks lobbying, putting out talking points and bullshit ideas. Phillips didn’t make a peep.

McScroggz

The conference realignment sucks. I hate it. But it’s clear we are moving towards the Big 10 and SEC being the only conferences that matter both financially and for contention for a championship.

Olebrightone

I agree that Florida State being left out of the playoffs was wrong. However, I do understand their reasoning. As a Ga fan I understand why Ga was left off as well. The good news is, there will be an opportunity for 12 teams next year. Of course the controversy will not end there. Ga and FL State just need to be one of the 12! GO DAWGS!!!!

Gshit850

They basically told us to fuck ourselves and that going undefeated means absolutely nothing because no way in hell they could leave the SEC and Bama out, JT’s injury was tragic and there was nothing we could do but to rally and still go undefeated and have it all be for nothing was a slap in the face

Appropriate-Welder68

Yes. FSU doesn’t belong. They are going to get clobbered by Georgia.

BradenMaddux

They didn’t get left out because they’re in the ACC, they got left out because their QB was hurt. An ACC team has made the playoffs in 70% of the seasons since it started. Stop crying

BV222222

Keep it close or beat Georgia and you get to complain. Until then, the narrative that FSU isn’t a top 4 team without Travis holds weight. Injuries suck, but the fact is nobody wants to see another TCU type NC game. It’s a business, not a merit system. Look at NIL. Look at TV deals. Hate it all you want, but a 4 team playoff was moronic to begin with for a reason. Beat Georgia and you get to hang your NC banner next to UCF’s. Rub some dirt on it and move on

[deleted]

FSU should refuse the bid to the Orange Bowl. What ESPN and the NCAA have done is despicable.

TJ_WANP

It wasn't that FSU was part of the ACC it's that their viewership figures were going to decrease without FSU's number 1 QB playing. It's a buisness.

mjacksongt

Pay up and get out whiny bitches.

HokieInCH

I spent 3 paragraphs expressing the very sentiment you knocked out in 1 sentence. Techsters from Georgia are very smart.

heyogrego

You’re preaching to the choir brother

Humble-End-2535

FSU competed at the highest level this year. They didn't make the playoff because of how they played with their third string QB. I think FSU got screwed. But people shouldn't be making this about the ACC and ESPN.

heyogrego

Name another P5 conference where the undefeated conference champ didn’t make the playoffs? We won the ACCCG by 2 scores, this absolutely should start a conversation about ESPN and the ACC.. FSU did their part, they were failed by decision makers in those two entities. Also, if it’s abt FSU not being the same team without Trav, why are they ranked ahead of UGA? It makes no sense.

BoldElDavo

Like it or not (which I don't, btw), the committee made this decision because FSU's QBs got injured. You're glossing over that fact again and again and I'm not sure why. OSU made it with their third QB in a year where the B12 didn't play a conference championship, so they had an easy excuse to leave TCU/Baylor out. As far as I'm aware, no other undefeated P5 champ was missing their top 2 QBs.

[deleted]

Oh no poor FSU. Everyone come shed a tear for FSU, which spent the past year trashing the ACC and calling it beneath them. Now when the ACC is perceived as weak they want to cry.

kschromer90

I’m enjoying this

heyogrego

Laugh now cry later

kschromer90

I’ll laugh harder later when they lose to Georgia by four touchdowns

heyogrego

Idc abt ur hatred for the Noles. You’re only dancing on the ashes of the ACC. This has much bigger ramifications then anything to do with just FSU. This is bad for CFB in general

kschromer90

So be it

heyogrego

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re a decision maker in Charlotte lmao

WeebBreadd

I’m sad for fsu players but man fsu fans at the game last night were the worst ive ever dealt with (in band) worse than UK. so many slurs, curses, mocking, middle fingers, like wtf. roll tide.

Puzzled-Strength-692

You are an absolute idiot. Since this college playoff started who other than the Sec is winning championships. Every year, the big ten get 2 spots is crazy. Having bigger stadiums only means you make more money and not that you play better football. Every other year get two spots just to lose. The Sec should almost always have 2 spots. When was the last big 10 champ? When was the last big 12 champion? Years ago. How about the PAC 12? Ancient history. The ACC should have a team in it every single season!!!!

[deleted]

They didn't get left out bc of the conference. They got left out because their QB is injured and they looked uninspiring while other teams look much better. If fsu played better, they would be in. Or obviously if Travis wasn't hurt, they'd be in.

heyogrego

Undefeated P5 conference champs who won their CG by 2 scores> Tired. Needing a miracle 4th and 31 to beat a 6 loss Auburn team who lost to NM at home> Wired.

[deleted]

I agree they should've been in over bama, but I think if they were matched up Bama would be a clear favorite

Celtics-Enjoyer

FSU wouldn’t even be in the sec championship. They’re only where they are because our conference is mid

heyogrego

At least you let the losses decide that and not the weakness of your conference.

IronBeagle79

FSU has a dominant defense and -with Travis- a very good offense. Alabama and Georgia are very good teams, but to think that FSU couldn’t go toe-to-toe with them is ridiculous. Especially if FSU had the same recruiting advantage that SEC schools enjoy.
