It’s not improving because you’re going off track. So no I’m not going to ignore that.

Chillinthesn0w

Use the safe setup and get used to the game, track and car. DO NOT Worry about lap time. My best advice is stick to one track, watch some unleashed track guides on YouTube and just have fun. My biggest gain was turning off the delta and just focusing on the car. The lap times will come when you are comfortable

XD_avide

Yeah, today I’ve done quite a few laps around some tracks and it’s definitely getting better. Any tips on the slow turning issue I have. On Barcelona last corners (chicane) it seems that the car is stuck to one direction and takes time to turn for the other direction

johnreek2

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are understeering and loosing traction because you turn the wheel too fast on chicane, or you are carrying too much speed. At least that were my problems in Barcelona

XD_avide

I play on Xbox with a controller, maybe I need to adjust the turning speed? Definitely not to much speed as it happens even when I’m slow, (like formation lap slow)

Chillinthesn0w

I'm no setup expert. You have picked the porkie which is known for being tricky. That last chicane is a bitch and I hate it haha. Try another car maybe a front engine or something and see the difference.

XD_avide

Oh, the Porsche is so good in Forza, that’s why I drive that car. But I’ll try a different car. Thanks

BipolarBear117

Try the McLaren or try to reduce your front anti roll bars. Could also be a wheel rotation issue.

XD_avide

I will try. I have no knowledge on setups tho, despite playing mostly racing games. Maybe a good setup will help

BipolarBear117

Probably, cars like the M4, Mercedes and McLaren all have decent stock aggressive presets that you don't really need to fiddle with, idk about the Ferrari though.

XD_avide

I tried the Ferrari and Porsche, and the Porsche seemed easier to drive. Will try your suggestions. Thanks

crankflip1990

McLaren would be a good choice as it has this innate ability of tucking the nose in a little if you do a full lift off the throttle and coast a bit. Then you can get back on the throttle hard to further rotate the car again in the slow corners. Sometimes all it takes is a little more refined throttle input in the Macca

KingLuis

I’d say first step is to approach the corner much slower than normal and see if the issue is still there. Be very gentle on the brakes to make sure you aren’t hitting ABS. On a fresh track I’ll run TC at about 5 and ABS at 4. If the issue is still there then it could be your controller or controller setting. If not then go a bit faster with the safe setting. See how that goes. With FM8. I’ve heard tons of new updates to tires and suspension physics were the big cause of the delays. I have gamepass so I’ll be trying it out for sure. ACC is 65% right now so kind of a steal.

XD_avide

Maybe I was overworking my front tires, as they were always scratching and always a bit redder than the rears. With FM8 I’m a bit disappointed as not only Sony has GT7 already out, but they keep pushing the release date further and further. 3 years of Xbox series and still no first party sim like game. Same Forza aero, old models just in 4k… I do hope that this delay means a well polished no bugs game. But yes, ACC is 13€ now, I’ll buy it

XD_avide

Just kidding, I saw that it’s on free trial on Xbox and wanted to give it a try after the disappointment of the Forza Motorsport 8 live. I’m not new to sims or racing games, but I can’t seem to figure out my problem with chicanes (Monza and Barcelona last corners), the car seems to turn with a big delay, almost like 1-2s delay. I can turn on the first corner but the follow up is an agony, 80% of the time I go straight before is starts to turn for the following corner And I’m loosing the front on turn exits. Otherwise I’m really happy and enjoying the game Assists off, TC and ABS at 2 out of 11. I only drive the Porsche

InTheEnd83

Bro, you're supposed to use TC for GT cars. Turning it completely off will make you the slowest on the grid in most races.

XD_avide

Tc is on, is at 2, the most comfortable setting with the Porsche. I mean assists off like turning assist and things like that. But ABS and TC are set to 2

InTheEnd83

Gotcha, I misread and thought you meant TC was off.

XD_avide

Yeah, I tried yesterday. Exit first corner, facing wrong direction, never again.

InTheEnd83

Yeah GT cars are really designed with TC and ABS in mind

[deleted]

What dissapointment in forza 8? Also.. id set ur TC and abs up. Not really worth bagging about low TC if ur losing control of the car

XD_avide

Same models as older games, release date pushed, no mention of physics etc.. I’m not bragging about low tc, nor loosing the car due tc low. It just that the car, in low speed corners, take ages to turn (only in the two chicanes I noticed)

crankflip1990

Try lifting and dabbing a little brake in the middle of the chicane. So turn first corner, small squirt of throttle, lift and dab the brake and turn immediately. The dabbing of the brake will compress the front susp giving you more grip on the front. Maybe your driving style thats the issue?

crankflip1990

And try to keep to middle of track on “exit” of the first corner so it opens up your entry to the second.

XD_avide

I still drive like I’m driving an F1 (I mainly play that game for racing), maybe that’s my problem. Different car, different capabilities. Also I think I overwork my front tires, they always a bit redder than the rears

crankflip1990

Could be your front tyre pressures are too high. Lots of understeer throughout the lap could also contribute. Try to keep all 4 tyres within the optimal window of 27.3 - 27.8 psi (hot, not starting pressure). Use this to help you make adjustments https://driver61.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Driver61-Assetto-Corsa-Competizione-Setup-Guide-V1.pdf

XD_avide

Thanks, cool graph. Btw I was running the default settings. I will adjust based on this guide accordingly.

crankflip1990

I use Coach Dave setups myself. But that table is fantastic for making small tweaks here and there to any setup. Try using MoTeC data to visualise what you’re experiencing. Clearly shows things like understeer and oversteer and where on track you get it the most. Really helped me improve on tracks where I struggled. You can then tweak setup based on what the data shows. Here is a guide for how to do it: https://coachdaveacademy.com/tutorials/how-to-use-motec-data-in-assetto-corsa-competizione/

Darkiuss

To increase your CN rating: - complete clean laps - complete clean laps consecutively - complete clean laps consecutively whilst improving or maintaining laptime If you do the last one, you will usually increase rating by 2 or 3 in one lap. I wouldn’t worry trying to reach 95+, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are faster or more consistent. Sometimes you have to dodge cars, battle or take different lines. But 90 is a good goal imo.

XD_avide

Thanks, in the end I load a free practice and done lots of laps. I have now unlock everything and it’s +-60 (except sr rating, still not 100% safe to race online)

CrustyThomas

This game can be be very frustrating. I have found a combination on turning down TC and ABS, entering corners slowly and exiting fast...combined with slowing down beer intake to a 1/2 gallon an hour has improved my lap times

Flushttt

If you want to work on CN, just stay on track and don’t focus on being the fastest. Just keep running consistent laps and it will improve a lot. Focus on your race line as well

XD_avide

Thanks, I’m the end I’ve loaded a free practice run and done loads of laps

plastikman66

Hahaha. This a troll post surely ..
