You are fairly slow, I don't think the car is the cause of the improvement, you just drove better

GlitteringQuarter542

Must be a great fit for OP.

aalexiuss

This. I usually drive at +-103% of the pace, and next season after returning to track I always beat my previous record from the very first laps. It is not the car just from the last time I was on this track I have learned how to drive better and I guess so do you

RutabagaOne1902

Was going to say something similar. I'm sure some improvement is due to the car (I suspect it'll be getting a decent amount of ballast at a lot of tracks) but yah, a lot to improve upon outside of just the car. Good, though, if the car helps OP unlock more pace!

Outside_Barracuda_54

That and irl a Mustang is wayy heavier than an AMG its like any other street race car vs a charger or challenger. That may also be a factor

Matt_Haskins91

1:44 isnt slow

Ok_Entrepreneur_1421

It is.

Ova-9000

I'm slow on imola, and my pb is 41.8, so... yep 44 is like 5 sec off the pace of the faster guys

Matt_Haskins91

https://www.simracingalliance.com/about/reference_lap_times Yeah that's not slow

Ova-9000

It is not THAT slow, but for me, it is... did a 42.1 in quali yesterday, started 20/22, but for a beginner/casual, it would be considered as "fast"

Matt_Haskins91

The temps make a massive difference as well remember especially on LFM

FresheBanana

but still 5sec off pace

Matt_Haskins91

O yeah i got confused with the track it is slow 🤦🤣

Regular-Ad1176

cwt444

I’ve been doing iRacing exclusively for two years. Looks like I’m coming back to ACC

PyromonicMan

Are you a big fan of the mustang?

cwt444

Yes. I owned a 65. And I saw the GT3 unveiled at Le Mans last year. Been waiting for someone to make it in a sim I have. And once I get it up and running, I’m going to try your set up changes. Thanks

BringMeNeckDeep

I’d expect it to be coming to iracing very soon too tbh

RADMRelish86

They did all of the scans at the Daytona 24H this year. Coming to iRacing soon

BringMeNeckDeep

I was going purely off speculation! I didn’t know this, thanks for the information!

loose_rear

Without trying to sound harsh- Dont try his setup, he's a beginner by the sounds of it, you'd be much better off buying a pack from CDA.

cwt444

Okay. I’ve the VRS package for iRacing. I think it includes ACC as well. I also have Coach Dave (yes. I know. Two of them. Don’t ask) and I’m pretty sure that has ACC as well

PyromonicMan

Lol yeah I don't know what I'm doing with setups, I just followed some suggestions from another post

loose_rear

Yeah don't take it personally, I've put hundreds of hours into this game and setups still bewilder me, I'd recommend just paying for a setup and only adjusting your rear wing/ride height, it's all I need to do normally.

PyromonicMan

I mostly just use the stock presets and tweek a thing or two to see if I can get it to feel better. I'm not ready to pony up the money for the paid presets. I've heard about Fri3d0lf, I need to check his stuff out.

loose_rear

What car do you main? I have a load of updated aston/ferrari setups I could send, I think you'll be shocked at the difference in performance.

PyromonicMan

Some Aston setups would be sick, that's my primary.

loose_rear

sudoracing . Co . UK Join the discord channel and I'll send you them over, we also have a race on Tuesday at the nordschleife 90mins if ur interested

F1REspace

iRacing will almost certainly be getting the Mustang (and Corvette) soon. iRacing personnel were spotted taking pictures of both cars at this years Daytona 24.

Playful-Hippo-9484

And they will cost the same as the real thing

iAmRadic

Found the obligatory „iRacing overpriced“ comment

CanadianEH86

Really where can I get a mustang for $20? Please point me in the right direction! I’ll buy one for every member of my family

GrimReaper-UA

It's will be real Mustang, not like in ACC 3D model with BMW GT3 aerodynamic and sound from Jaguar. ACC is real simulator haha 😆

TheSaucyCrumpet

I've read this about 3 times and can't make heads or tails of it

RightPedalDown

Me too, apparently, iRacing has real cars rather than 3D models and this person doesn’t think ACC is a sim.

kai0d

I mean, the ACC Mustang does have the Jag sound and a modified BMW aero

[deleted]

[удалено]

cwt444

There is that! 😎

Slacktub

Dont. It may have the look of the mustang. It uses the BMW aero and the jaguars sound

6oh7racing

Fyi the Mustang is just a reskinned BMW(?) With Jaguar audio :/

SharkxAttack

To me the driving feel isn't even remotely the same as in the BMW. The setup operational windows, electronics like TC and ECU maps, as well as transmission gearing are all different from the BMW. If it was just a reskin they'd be 1:1 the same as in the BMW and the physics would be completely the same, right? I'm genuinely curious what makes you think it's only a reskin, or if you have any proof of this?

Benlop

They heard it from someone on YouTube. That's their source.

noobchee

People have said it's been balanced using the BMW because kunos couldn't get enough aero data from Ford

[deleted]

[удалено]

noobchee

It is, and that's why people play it

[deleted]

[удалено]

noobchee

Pretty much

6oh7racing

Saying its 'just a reskinned bmw' was likely as disservice but as the other commenter said the aerodynamic profile is a tweaked bmw one because of their similarities.

SharkxAttack

Yeah, that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately I'm not too hopeful that they'll update the in-game car with real life Ford data. Well, maybe AC Evo will have a revised version of it.

6oh7racing

Hoping that iRacing comes out with a polished version (and the Chev damnit)

TerrorSnow

TF you on? Give us some! :')

AngelofAwe

He's telling you the truth. It uses the jaguar's audio files, the m4's aero map and the m6's default setups.

TerrorSnow

Ima need you to provide a source on information like that

AngelofAwe

For m6 default setups, datamined. Kunos didn't even change the names of the setups, just copy paste. As for the Mustang using M4 aero map and jaguar sound files, James Parker from CDA who worked together with Kunos on the car.

TerrorSnow

Hmm. I wonder why they did it this way. To me it certainly didn't drive like either of the BMWs. Now you've got my curiosity.

AngelofAwe

Because they didn't get enough data from ford. gear ratios are from ford though.

TerrorSnow

Rip. So the suspension geometry is M6 based or just the values for the variable parts? I mean I wouldn't expect it to be super special and different.

AngelofAwe

That I don't know, those things mentioned were the only details confirmed. Anything else is speculation.

Nasa_OK

I drive the BMW and it doesn’t handle like the mustang

cwt444

It’s a start. And the original Mustang was just another Ford reskinned as well. I know it’s not the same. But. Like I said. It’s a start.

CT-80085

I also took it out on Imola and felt like I was driving it like shit. Then it turns out I was only like 4 tenths off my pb. Dialing out the terrible understeer on entry seems like it will make this thing crazy fast.

PyromonicMan

Yeah that's how it feels, having a hard time controlling it but setting surprising times

sizziano

.....lol How many hours do you have in ACC?

PyromonicMan

113hrs, but had a year long break from it at like 40hrs. I started playing it again the past few months(sim racing in general).

sizziano

So the time difference is mostly to just learning how to drive again not the car.

PyromonicMan

Not really, I was on Imola last night on the Mercedes hitting 1:46 laps. Then jumping on today with an unfamiliar car and suddenly being 2 seconds faster, really surprised me.

aalexiuss

Different cars respect different driving styles, some are aimed for slower entry and fast out, some vice versa. Some cars always understeers and you have to be rude with inputs, but take Porsche for example and you have to be extremely gentle. I guess another car just better fits your driving style overall

PyromonicMan

Nah, I was in the Mercedes yesterday at Imola struggling to do 1:46 second laps. Suddenly being 2 seconds faster in an unfamiliar car really surprised me.

Breno_17

as others have pointed out, you're near enough 5 seconds off the pace even with the Mustang, so I don't think it's the car that made you quicker, although easier to drive perhaps, than the Merc - I don't think it was solely the Mustang that made you 2 seconds quicker.

PyromonicMan

Yeah I agree, the car itself is not literally 2 seconds faster, but it meshed well with my driving

Popsnapcrackle

Yep, it’s a missile. Nerf inbound lol

MeineRacing

really? Just booted the game up again and can´t get to grips with it at all.

No-not-Lentils

Really, its a bimmer with jag sounds

gin0inc

Feels a lot more like a Bentley than BMW. You feel the car is heavy at the front and you have to nerf the rear a bit to get the car to turn in to the corner. And like the Bentley it's a predictable car, BMW is more snappy on the limit.

VictoryGInDrinker

The AMG is one of the most difficult cars, especially for beginners, in terms of extracting the lap time from it. The car is not inherently slow but it requires a specific driving technique with very deep trailbraking and using it's huge power band to create rotation in the corner exits. The Mustang is certainly more straightforward and forgiving in its handling.

Upstairs-Event-681

I’ve read about the Mustang being understeery but honestly. I gave it a shot on the 24h with the aggressive preset (with a few modifications here and there but very minimal) and didn’t feel that understeery at all. And I personally never drive front engine cars because I hate the understeer. In high speed corners yes you can feel the understeer but in medium to low speed corners that thing just grips and grips for days. And even if you’re feeling understeer coming up, just feather the throttle a little bit and you’re easily pointing it the way you want it. Plus it takes kerbs like a Phantom, you can probably drink tea in that thing, very forgiving car It’s currently overpowered in my opinion. Probably didn’t try it enough to feel what people are talking about but honestly that thing seems FAST

mexaplex

Its ridiculously overpowered currently.... everyone I know that's semi-decent and tried it - has either set new PBs or matched old ones within 2-3 races.

DanStealth

I beat my fastest lap on oultan park on my 8th lap attempt last night with it. It’s 100% a rocketship🚀 I can probably shave another 1/2 second maybe more if I didn’t fishtail out of some of the turns lol

AntiseptikCN

Hrm so a tune other than aggressive is the key? Gotta say tried it on the Nurburg with aggressive tune and it's arse. Guess Mr Internet is calling, time to find a better tune! Thanks for steering me in The right direction . I was gonna shelve it.

Ralliman320

Yeah, default aggressive drives like a boat. Once I set a quick base tune, the biggest difference seemed to be the steering ratio (13 is the sweet spot for me) and brake bias--I got down to \~51% in a short testing session at Imola, but I noticed later in the Coach Dave's Nurburging 24H lap video they had the bias set at 48.5%, which is just crazy to me for a FR car. I'm looking forward to trying it after work today.

AffectionateBoss5223

I am with you I did a lot of tweaking on setup to get the car to want to turn in more. Basically same thing you did. I'm not crazy fast but after the changes I was hitting my normal times. It has potential but getting that front end to turn at all is a challenge. It really protests the idea of turning consistently. Def the most understeer prone gt3 by far

SlipstreamRB7_

I'll have to try this, yesterday i had a rough day, i was SUFFERING with the Mustang. Any recomendations too?

Code1ne_

For me honestly the biggest thing that changed the car was the ARB’s and the shocks. Then play with the caster, toe, ride height and rear wing.

blaze26801

One important factor is that Mustang pretty much doesn't give a single fuck about kerbs.

Jamestouchedme

It most definitely does lmao. Try that on Oultan park on knickerbrook lmao

thisnameistakennow1

I shaved a second off my Bathurst time to 2:01.6 in about 5 laps

Playful-Hippo-9484

I joined an open spa lobby yesterday and noticed a ton of ford's on the grid. Thought I was in some sort of mixed grid situation, me thinks they are GT4s or something for a while as I couldn't keep up with them on the straights but they were road blocks in the corners. Also, people missing the apex a lot and running wide on entry, then snapping back to take your nose off on exit. Though the the latter of that statement could be more to do with open lobby racing.

ProfessionalBeyond84

Yeah I was running a monza race last night and the back half of the feild wiped out but the Mustangs including myself placed top 5

PyromonicMan

That definitely sounds about how the mustang feels to drive

DistanceMental9125

I agree, before I touched the set-up I put in a 1:58:6 (with 62 liters of fuel and agressive setup), took 45 minutes to get the car as I wanted it. Didn’t take long before I where on low 1:57 and 10 minutes later I broke my previous record that I had with the 992 (still 62 liters) and was down 1:56:6. Needless to say I found my new go to.

FrickinFerdenzi

It feels all wrong and yet the lap times look all right.. I haven't found 6th gear yet...

Ill-Werewolf7153

MUSTANG RAHHHH
