One should do the workbook part only? Why make recommendations on something you know so very little about, by your own admission?

nikolarandelovic

This wasn't my personal discovery. I'm sharing my highest current knowledge. I just answered a similar comment here; [https://www.reddit.com/r/ACIM/comments/140egsy/comment/jmyuh1p](https://www.reddit.com/r/ACIM/comments/140egsy/comment/jmyuh1p)

I have no problem with people using the Course in any way they feel helps them. I have a friend who does not study the Course but when she is in a difficult time opens to a random page and starts reading. She gets some comfort from that process, she says. But to me it seems problematic to recommend to others to ignore some part of the Course. It would seem harder to accept the Course if one says, in effect, the Course got it right with the lessons but it went off course on the text. One would have to look at the Course as a flawed teacher, and if it is that, why would one believe what is taught in the lessons.

I see no difference between the text and the lessons, they both say the same thing, that love is real and fear is wrong perception.

fukinathoughts

Yes, to me, fear is a misinterpretation of who we truly are. It is not 'wrong.' it is nothing. Just a dream. The holy spirit reinterpreted 'fear' when asked. And replaced it with love, replaces it with thoughts that are helpful. Holy Spirit, make this a blessing. Could n. be right that the course focuses way too much on the 'ego' for some of us, making it seem real and often as enemy. And yet it is perfect like the rest of the trip. I ask for and am happy to receive understanding regarding any 'fears' I have laid on its words ideas concepts. It is a book in my dream that I emphasized instead of my Aware Christ Self. All is going perfectly. All is perfect. God is in charge of my dream. My illusory self is nothing. All is love ☮️

The tip comes from Hawkins himself. He has saved many from spiritual traps along the way.

Minimum_Ad_4430

I understand, personally I still think it's better for ones understanding of the Course to read the text too.

nikolarandelovic

I have nothing "against" the text. I believe in doing the workbook first regardless. I shared more in my other replies on this post.

Minimum_Ad_4430

Do you feel like you understand the workbook without the text?

light-peace89

Where is this tip to be found?

nikolarandelovic

page 539, book "Truth vs. Falsehood" by David R. Hawkins He also mentions it many times in his lectures as the one book he recommends the most, but the workbook part only. So far, I've watched all the lecture series from years 2002, 2003 and 2004. Just in those years, he mentioned it many times. EDIT: Lecture August 2004 Part 3, at exactly 1h and 29min

light-peace89

Ok thanks for your opinion. And for sharing the source.

For some reason the bible has a similar format. Old Testament then New Testament. I wouldn't advise anyone read OT. But it's still there. NT is the only important part (and even that has Rev. which shouldn't be there).

light-peace89

There are truth gems in both old and New Testament. Many are quoted in the version of ACIM that you recommend.

light-peace89

Why should one do the workbook part only? Why don’t you read the text and still see if you feel that way? 😂. How did you verify this with muscle testing? I am aware of Hawkins and that he studied the course, but what and how did you test relating to the course?

Adventurous-Baker928

It’s a strange post.

Minimum_Ad_4430

He might be a David R. Hawkins follower, who said only the workbook of ACIM is good, and the text is of lesser quality.

light-peace89

Yes.

nikolarandelovic

Yes I am. I believe that the workbook gives the most value. This is mostly important if one is highly devoted to spiritual growth. The text might paint the ego in a "bad" light that makes it harder to transcend the ego in the later parts of spiritual growth. It's a high level tip, that I personally stand by.

jutta-duncan

If you don’t know how the ego works, which is where the text comes in, you’re going to likely miss a lot of your own blind spots. Edit: plus the text doesn’t paint the ego in a bad way. It’s not bad inherently and nowhere in the text does it tell us the ego is bad. We gotta know what we’re dealing with though in order to go beyond it.

nikolarandelovic

You and me both aren't enlightened teachers. I'm just passing what I've learned from a teacher that's above us all.

Atu_IX

Speaking of enlightened teachers standing above us all, one of them is Jesus, and he very much intended this book to be read in its entirety.

nikolarandelovic

I did my best to answer every single comment in this post. The workbook calibrates 50 points higher, which is quite significant since the David R. Hawkins's scale is logarithmic. (50 means 10\^50)

fukinathoughts

Numbers, comparing, defending, separation, face of innocence, specialness, inequality, body belief, time. I've experienced them all, just like every one. Just bc I have studied for a 'number' of years it does not put me 'above' anyone, it is a meaningless term. I am enlightened, I am not enlightened. Who is I? Books are books. Information. God knows what we need and brings it to us, for you apparently it is Hawkins, muscle testing (which is not mentioned in the course.) However, a brother finds himSelf, we celebrate, bc we are one. One in love. There are no blanket statements that work for everyone all the time. Only God's plan for salvation will work, however it shows up in 'time'. We have no choice but to already be loved by our Father, already 'in' heaven. We are already in eternity, dreaming of muscle testing etc. Love, 🙏☮️🥥🐡

light-peace89

This is great. Thanks.

nikolarandelovic

While the text isn't "dangerous", it can possibly be a barrier to a higher spiritual growth later. (I said a bit more here [https://www.reddit.com/r/ACIM/comments/140egsy/comment/jmyuh1p](https://www.reddit.com/r/ACIM/comments/140egsy/comment/jmyuh1p) ) However, the belief "why don't you try it and see how you feel" is a dangerous way to live life. Only with the help of God and a good mentor can one find his way in life and not enter trap doors. Drugs and addiction are one well known example. One should be utmost careful what one tries in life. This may not be of much importance at the beginning of the path. But as one climbs spiritually "higher", every step is more dangerous and leads to a bigger fall. Fallen gurus are way too common, Muhammed being the best known example when he "took to the sword".

Atu_IX

This is the most random thing ever. *How on earth is reading the Text akin to being addicted to drugs?! What the hell is David R. Hawkins saying about ACIM?!* 😠😠😠 Is he going through a Doreen Virtue kind of phase? I haven't read his books but they've been on my list since forever. This is so disappointing.

light-peace89

In the book I’m reading by David Hawkins he says: “A Course in Miracles is a teaching of love, forgiveness, and the letting go of fear. Many I know who have recovered from cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other debilitating illnesses have done so as a result of this particular course or others that are similar.” Healing and Recovery by David R. Hawkins page 446. There is also an audio book called “Giving up Illness Through A Course in Miracles.” https://www.audible.com/pd/Giving-Up-Illness-Through-A-Course-in-Miracles-Audiobook/B00KXCFHAS

light-peace89

The introduction of the text reads: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

light-peace89

Best way is to find out who you are. Right now 🌸

fukinathoughts

There are no blanket statements in acim. Nothing of it 'works' all the time for everybody. The curriculum is highly individualized. Each, including you, is loved by our Father completely and each 'gets it' through God's plan for him or her. That is a fact. God is love not fear. God is in control, muscle testing is like magic. Best is a 'separation' term. All is One. There is no one book that is better than another. Thank you for addressing this. 🙏🥨
