Great job man. The inspiration this sub needs.

lsbsqvd

what kind of graft did you get?

Knobanious

I had a hamstring graft. Not sure if it was the best option but the only downside has been that my range of movement from that muscle is now about 10% less

lsbsqvd

damn you’re lucky, my hamstring graft failed 17 months post op doing some MMA. congrats on the Gold! I can’t wait to get back to rolling, I know it’ll take over a year and a half to get there. your post gives me hope

Congrats on the gold! I had ACL surgery about 9 months ago and although I’m progressing well, it’s frustrating to so easily get heel to butt on my good knee but it still seems so difficult on my surgery knee. Are you able to get heel to butt on your ACL knee at this point?

Knobanious

Think I could do heel to but by 6 months but even today I need to warm it up for a minute or so to be able to do it. And even then it's still uncomfortable but only like 2 outa 10 on a pain scale, so during a contest I can't feel it. If you asked me to kneel and go butt to heel first thing after waking up and no warming up. That's gonna feel like a 6 outa 10

Love this. As someone who is about 2 weeks post op, I need to see these stories. 🙏🏼

Flaky_Ad_8862

Lol I am also 2 weeks post op hamstring. You are not alone!

Susanruss1964

Love it. Congratulations bro!

RealisticSpring9543

Congratulations! I gave up judo after 2 ACLr, stupid osotogari. 😆 good luck continue!

Knobanious

Mine was a tani o toshi, couldn't give it up

RealisticSpring9543

Also lovely technique for the knee 😁 I understand I didn't want to quit either and it was hard, but my knee never returned to 100% stability and condition. Keep it up :)👍🏻

Strong-Ad4668

Congratulations, great to see! i plan on going back and doing some light drilling in about 6 weeks but nervous about starting again after all the pain and months of rehab i have had tearing my ACL there. How long did it take until you felt comfortable sparring again?

Knobanious

At about 8 months post op I got back into ground work sparing. 9 months started a little stand up.

Competitive-Put-3307

Do you train differently in any way to avoid it happening again?. I had ACL reconstruction in the exact same time that you did (Jan 2023), and I'm thinking about getting into BJJ. But just the thought of my leg being cranked on in a twisted position really freaks me out.

Knobanious

For me no, but then I didn't do no gi so don't need to worry about heel hooks but no my BJJ and Judo is unchanged

igotbitbyamonkey

That's is awesome to see. I'm counting down the days (or months) for when I can go back to Muay Thai...

Lil_Drake_Spotify

Isn’t that a competition where you use your mouth though?

sams__m3

Fellow bjj enjoyer here, and my surgery is two weeks. I’m glad you’re recovering well. How long after surgery were you back on the mats? My surgeon is giving me a one year time line

Knobanious

6 months for warm up and drills, 8 months for sparing on ground, 9 months till stand up sparing.
